Like I said in my post 'taxis drivers' have had this problem. We're talking about high km vehicles. Every time it got done Toyota suggested they use 98/95 octane fuel, after doing so they didn't have many dramas. I can't imagine you will find lots of info on the net about this, none of our Falcons or Camry Hybrids (taxis) have had this problem. Probably isn't common on private cars.

It it a myth that 98 octane premo fuel has cleaning additives?

I only ever run 98 in all my cars, usually Caltex. In my old Accord Euro (which I bought new), at 80,00 klms the fuel filter got replaced as part of the scheduled servicing. It was very evident at that service that 98 is indeed worth the extra cost, as my fuel filter was absolutely spotless......

I used to run 91 in a ford econovan.. But switched up to 98 and I reckon there was about 10% less smoke pouring out the back of it..

^^^and that's what I reckon too.

Just one thing though!

The E10 they used was 94-95 and not the lower E10 91 that most servos sell.

I buy my E10 94 from 7-11 servos , I think it's Mobil and it's the same price as the lower E10 91 at other servos.

7-11s are about the only servos that sell the 94 E10 round my way that I've seen.
