Basic's

Air and Fuel supply (can you check fuel pressure)

Air leaks that would allow unmetered air into the engine

Battey condition/Voltage when hot

02 sensor condition

Or skip the guessing games and pull the codes and work from there.

Possibly O2, might be worth replacing when I stick the new dump on, will check for codes tonight and check for air leaks too

also check for pre 02 sensor exhaust leaks.

If there are no codes leading to obvious issues, look for any issues that would cause the pcm to believe the engine is receiving less air than it is.

To add to the topic.. This car was tuned by a workshop with sct, it was over boosting and detonating, plus the LTFT were around the 18 mark, this hard start problem was happening even with the sct tune.. So I said I would have a look...

The tune was very ordinary, (and that's coming from me, with little tuning experience)

I sucked out the custom tune and the standard tune... I modified the standard tune as if it were my own, I adjusted the injector scaling and got it to a stage were it was boosting at a slow but steady 9-10psi, softened the timing so there was no detonation just so the car was drivable as we only had a couple of hours to look at it...

I'm thinking that the base tune that I got from the x3 may not be the correct base file for the car, may be similar but not exact? Is this a possibility?

When we both have some free time I'll have to do some logs while this is happening to determine what it could be

Yeh may I add this has nothing to do with you're tuning joe, this has been happening since I got the car. Since you tuned it, it's better, just still there. I'm hoping it's just in the tune and we can find something!

I really hope so! Just need to give peppy more than an hour and 3 runs to work things out. Managed to have the car running heaps better after even that amount of time,.. So if it is tune I'm sure we will be able to sus it out. I'll try to eliminate any other possibility before though
