Synchro ain't buggered, mine did it from day dot.. 65000ks now and going strong.. It's such a common thing unless every one of those FG gearboxes got busted synchros.

It's normal, learn to drive around it,

Change gear slow and at low revs.

Let it drop into neutral from first then go into second.

It is possible the synchros could be munted in 2nd.

Their not bomb proof.

In saying that mines a bit notchy too.

I pulled the carpet up from under the clutch peddle and cut the foam out for an extra 20mm of travel.

Only ever use it for reverse sometimes though.. or if I cbf to push to the floor the whole way.

I think the oil has a lot to do with the gear changes too. Found in the past with fresh oil it's a *beep* to change for a while... could be just me though

mine is exactly the same, terrible when cold, but shift slowly when cold and it goes like butter when its warm. Swapped out to transmax Z at about 40,000 and absoultely no change. If I was keeping it long term I would swap it out to mainlube, but its going in the next month or so , so no real need.

Its sounds like a synchro issue. Viscousity of the oil changes when hot, hence shifting better. Could of been caused by a miss shift at some point of its life. Either way, its not normal for a box to grind gears on a simple gear change.

It's farking normal.. Mine did it from brand new, 4kms on clock.. I've gone to dealers and test drive a few out of stress.. 99% of people I know with manual FGs there's does it. It's a mechanical part of the car, it's like not booting your car till engine temp is up, same with gearbox..

I doubt very much everyone of these cars someone has missed a gear.

Like I said, put 4.8ltrs in not 4.5.. And also change oil in gearbox at least once a year.

Did mine and it's 85% better, not cleared up but better.

Ive got a BA series 2 6 speed 160000km, it shifts fine in all gears, but I need to make sure that the clutch is buried in the carpet when changing most gears.
