Big congratulations to Scott McLaughlin on the championship victory :3gears:

Back-To-Back (which should have been back-to-back-to-back haha) :spoton: :icon_ford:

been that way for ages... they even changed the name to VASC (a sponsorship addition to that initialism) but it doesn't change the fact that the cars are still 5L pushrod v8's.

I feel the penalty for running a higher lift cam then accepted is a slap on the wrist.

As if they would not check every cylinder to ensure they are getting enough lift. They would not sacrifice lift at all.

Then to turn around and say ahh it was a manufactuer error we didn't pick up on.

They would have had that cam tucked away ready for Saturday at Bathurst for a long time.

Guarantee there cam in the sunday engine is in spec.

well, another company builds their engines... and it comes in sealed because of that...

they also got approval from supercars to change the engine due to some values that showed the engine may not survive the 1000km of the race which was potentially it getting too hot...

the value of the higher lift of the valve was 3.5 thousandths of an inch over specification (700 is the value +10 thousands of an inch as allowable tolerance), so they were around a quarter width of a sheet of paper over-spec...

this overspec occurred on 5 of 8 cylinders, but why not the other 3? surely if they were to overspec it to gain an advantage, then the entire 8 would be out of spec?

the people checking on it confirmed that it didn't go over standard torque or horsepower values, so there was no gain in performance...

those same people checking also said that the overspec was not done intentionally.

all of those things combine to make it a "you stuffed up, don't do it again" sort of punishment (which I feel was considerably over-dealt, based on those same facts above, but that's just my personal opinion which is admittedly ford-biased)
