Snapon will set you back about $180 and wellar will be about $130. I have had many soldering iron and I would definitely go one of these two brands. The Weller is a better unit. The Snap on had never ending problems with ignitors and elements and broke after falling from the door sill of my 4b onto the ground. The Weller has been dropped/kicked/left out in the rain and still works.I also have a smaller china spec "proflame" (or something similar to that) which is small enough for electronics work. I dont have a garage so having to run out power leads for a couple of wire solders sucks , probably just getting old/lazy/grumpy but hey, you can never have too many toys tools!So far weller looks like the fav, are they still german assembled?
