A lad posted a picture of his bike on a Ducati forum I frequent which inspired me to polish the stainless on my exhausts.
I only had time to do one muffler, but want to do the other side (obviously) and do the headers.
today was really a test to see how far I could get with limited time.(1 and a half hours)
I have bought a carbon hugger from the US, and a carbon front guard from the UK, so I wanted to bling up some of the other components in preparation for their arrival.

sanded a couple of bad areas with 800 then 1000 grit sanding discs on a hand held sander (in first picture)
then buffed with a fine fabric polishing wheel and fast-cut wax (blue bar)

what did you do to polish the stainless steel like that?

it looks brand new.

Unfortunately it doesn't stay like that for long.

So how do you make an exhaust last for long with that sort of shiny look?

I'm about to find out

At a guess I would expect the headers to colour up pretty quickly with blue/purple strong at the cylinders   and decreasing down the pipe.

The mufflers I would expect to hold their shine for a long time.
