Got my first power bill that my solar system had been installed for the whole period...$34.40, compared to $356.45 for the same period last year. Looking at how much power I used through this period though my bill this time around would have been like $245, so still saved me $210.

yep, solar is a winner, if you can make the money back that you invested, which it looks like you'll do quite quickly and well within the lifespan of the solar panels

From what I've calculated today it should be less than 5 years, which I'm happy with considering I went with a little more premium inverter and panels. Inverter has a 12 year warranty so will be well within warranty period before it's all paid back :)

It's just nice knowing though that I can be home on the weekend, running the aircon all day and night and not be worried I'll get a massive power bill now.

Much more successful day on the tools today. Got my trans cooler and fan in. Just need to run the hoses, do the trans oil and finish the wiring. Is mega hot so I'm just doing a bit each day.

Taking plenty of pics so I can write up what I've done. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of detailed info on doing this job and as these cars get older there'll be more DIY I imagine.

Also de-engined a mate's Hilux yesterday, so putting the stupidity of the other day behind me gradually!a99400c00f9ec32b51512551353aa791.jpg
