Share Posted 10/08/12 11:39 PM Posted 10/08/12 11:39 PM Share Hi Essgee & thanks for your callthe problem is once a box starts to slip & depending on how long you let it go for then the damage is done !!... if the steels get hot spotted just like a flywheel with a manual clutch the next time you give it a hard time the friction can not get a full contact on the metal plate then they start to warp, adding a cooler after the fact is like saying what about if I replace the oil in it every week & drive it sedately, & yeah it may prolong it if you do drive it sedately but we dont !! that why I say take it back & get all of the ZF & normal trans changes reverted back to std & drive it for a week the megatronic will relearn & if your lucky enough, you could have saved your box but if it still slips & flairs its to late.we are build a ZF from a customer from Queensland I'll take pics of what stuffed fiction & steels look likethanksjoe

Share Posted 20/08/12 01:04 AM Posted 20/08/12 01:04 AM Share BTA Motorsports are pretty good on the ZF's as well, just had mine rebuilt there. Ali and his team are good value.
Share Posted 20/08/12 01:35 AM Posted 20/08/12 01:35 AM Share oThere's no argument. Plenty of ZF's failing without any mod's. Anyway, I didn't raise this topic to generate ' I told you so's'Appreciate all feedback.I don't think I've seen a ZF on an unmodified car fail other than the ZF Milkshake which is a design flaw rather than this which is excess wear and tear above what the box was designed for.I think there's a company in WA that do really good ZF rebuilds but I can't think of the name. Their cost includes freight there and back from memory.

Share Posted 20/08/12 05:19 AM Posted 20/08/12 05:19 AM Share Correct, Simon at Xtreme does them too, but do we really need to go to WA to get our boxes built, there are plenty shops that are capable in Sydney.
Author Share Posted 21/08/12 09:33 AM Posted 21/08/12 09:33 AM Share I've had my transmission serviced and re-tuned by Autotech Engineering in Sydney. I've not experienced a more professional and customer focused service provider in my life. These guys not only know their stuff but are dedicated to their work in every way.Spiro kept me posted every step of the way, he asked my approval for the most minor job before proceeding and explained the process and reason for what he was recommending.Check out their web site and testimonials, they're spot on.So in a nutshell, transmission is performing better than new and box didn't have to be rebuilt.
