Will update this first post with venue, time and DIY details - so keep checking this first post

On this Sunday 20 May at 2:30pm Venue is Kestrel Creek carpark in Westerfolds Park, Templestowe (near Fitzsimons Lane and Porter St, Templestowe)

Would anybody be interested in a hands on tutorial on home maintenance for our cars? I'm thinking along the lines of changing light bulbs, tightening turbo manifold bolts, cleaning out the boost solenoid, greasing up that drivers side window so the farrken thing does not jam 3/4 of the way going up :roflmbo: , changing your brake pads and rotors and so on. Farrk, even deek has some pretty good tips cos he's been around our cars for a long time - remember the air filter under the glove box clogged with leaves and things deek  And I really found it interesting when Paulie showed me how the rear brake rotors and pads came apart and were put back together - including using a torque wrench :spoton:

I mean we talk alot about these things and some of us do it, but could be that some would like to do it if only they had someone to show them how to do it.

Bring some deck chairs to sit on if you like. I'll bring some free bickkies and coffee - so feel free to partake

Sounds like there could be 2-3 cars being worked on at the same time led by various experts so cars being worked on should park furtherest from the Kestrel Creek Park entrance (one way in/out) so as not to block access to those coming and going please.

Also will have some free Wi-Fi running :beerchug:

It'll be BYO hand tools and materials by the way and things done at your own risk :beerchug:

Here's a list of things that are possible be we obviously won't do all - but you can ask questions about them and other things.

Ok just a few things that daztbo has up his sleeve that have come in handy

1. Tighten manifold bolts

2. Lube and clean boost solinoid actuator

3. Change spark plugs + coils

4. Change tps + reset tps

5. Change engine oil + filter

6. Change fuel filter

7. Clean throttle body

8. Block of bov to make flutter

9. Clean aircon filter

10. Clean or replace fuel pressure reg

11. Replace brake pads + rotors + bleed brakes

Plus there is a heap more like installing mods eg

New cooler

Injectors

Fuel pump

Exhaust cat and dump pipe

Actuator

Relocate battey to boot or passenger side so turbo side air box can be fitted

Dose pipes

Plenums

And pretty much anything

Standard forum rules are for this event if you decide to come along:

RULES:

1. Obey all laws whilst at this event.

2. There is a designated event leader who's decision is final.

3. Use the Buddy system - always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn to make sure nobody gets lost (in the park ^_^ )

4. CB Radios - if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. It is highly recommended to have CB as it enhances the enjoyment of the event (if you can't see what's going on ^_^ ).

5. Please turn up to the meeting points with a sufficient fuel in your tank and enough time.

6. Onus is on the owner/driver to ensure their vehicle is safe to drive on public roads and meets State road traffic authority laws.

7. Please ensure you have a contingency plan if you have a breakdown or unnecessarily delayed. e.g. Roadside Assistance or a mate in another car who is willing to stay with you if necessary. Well this one is serious - if you do something that stops your car working - have a back up plan.

8. If you wish to post this event up on any other social media site e.g. facebook, myspace, twitter - please obtain permission from the Cruise Controller/Mod organising the event first.

9. By attending this event you agree not to hold FordXR6Turbo.com, it's Administrators, Moderators, Cruise Controllers, or Owner responsible / liable for any damage and / or grief sustained (simply; you are responsible for your own actions).

That's an awesome idea for the newcomers to the turbo scene Gary. I know there are a few people on here that don't know of the 'standard' things to regularly do to their cars and maintain, good time for them to learn before something goes on them. +1 thread, make it some sort of meet up for the colder months where no cruises happen, good photo op too.

Tra1nr's back from The Prom, so he can supply the BBQ :P Worm could come and there'd be a double burner!
