Nice bomber, powdercoat it! You know you want to!

think I'll leave it polished for now to match the ECU cover. Might have to buy some other little bling bits - see how I go.

Hey Bomber,

Awesome work on the car buddy! Bet she goes like a rocket!

I just had a couple of questions...

Did you need to change the fuel pump to cope with the tune/bigger injectors? What about needing a new actuator? Haven't seen any F series boys put these on the list of mods yet... What about the valve springs? Were you advised to do them?

And is this a fairly safe and reliable tune - In terms of gearbox and engine longevity?

Congrats again mate - She's a beauty!

Dan

Thanks for you comments Dan.

The stock FG fuel pump can handle this level of tune. The F6 shares the same pump so the injector upgrade (to F6 440cc) was of course no problem. From memory, I think they're running at about 85% total duty cycle at this power level.

Time over, I'd probably change the actuator but it does mean removing the turbo so extra costs there. If I went to that trouble, then I'd probably do the turbo mod also so again more $$. Bottom line, the standard one holds ok, but drops off in the upper rev range. Tuners work around this and still get good results.

Valve springs are a hit and miss on FG. Mine held up.

Car does not burn a drop of oil (Nulon 10w - 40) and by putting a mild gearbox tune in it, there is no reason with maintenance that it should'nt be as reliable as stock at this power.

I get better fuel economy also on cruise than it did stock.

Cheers, Bomber.

PS. Got the new 'bigger' boots today :) Rims should hopefully come next week.

the 275's actually measure 285 - bonus. Can't see they'll shrink much on the rim with air in 'em.
