After chatting to the local shop who also thought 70.1 at first before calling their suppliers, I'm buying some Nylon (plastic) 70.5mm ID very shortly and fitting the wheels this arvo so fingers crossed!

 

Plastic 70.1 would stretch over 70.5 I imagine.  Might make them crack more easily...but I'm ordering a metal set from online anyway for permanent use once I'm happy that the 70.5 are snug.

Just checked multiple ford stock wheels.  BA. BF and territory.  Steel and Ali.  All 70.5mm
