I know i might get flamed for this.. but i had a conversation with a relative about ute's and sedans.. Im just wondering why the fascination especially in Australia for the ute?

I know there is work reasons behind having a ute ie carrying things int he back etc.. but why a ute just for everyday driving? I must admit the Pursuit and others look great

Interested to know your reasoning behind buying a ute?

it is simple Chris,

utes are utes

to tell you more would mean that we would have to cut out your tongue ...

I think it is just a passion ... you have either got it or you don't

never have a go at a someone's mother, dog or ute !!

utes may be more open and expressive like  whereas sedan drivers more stealth <_< ....

go the uters <_<

My first car was an inherited XM Falcon ute - came from a farm and always had a bag of barley in the back over the back axle to help keep the tail in place! 3sp column shift to very noisy gearbox and sadly limited power (didn't have the pursuit motor).

Couldn't wait to get a back seat, but I was about 18 at the time and living at home! At least my ute had a bench seat!

Have never really lusted after a ute since - maybe it's a "been there, done that" thing.

Must admit though, the modern utes seem a far cry from my old girl and they do give the opportunity to own a very cheap sports vehicle with great load carrying ability and no less human accommodation than a 2 seater sports car.

Horses for courses, I reckon.

My main reason for getting a ute over the sedan was a pretty simple. By getting the ute I avoid FBT as the vehicle is deemed to be 100% work use, which makes it much much cheaper. the other reason is there is plenty of room to put tools, tyres, etc for the race car.

The reason I love utes so much is because of the way the look. All utes look good and no matter what badge they have on them they all look good, and my favourte ute is problury the old HQ One-Tonner. Gotta love your old utes lol, and the only Ford ute I like is the BA XR8, did I just say that hmmmmm lol. Go the utes. :smilielol::)

Why??

Why not??

I can cart stuff around in one go without worrying about ripping the seats or getting the interior dirty

I can tell ppl I can't drop em home or pick em up cause I don't have the room

I can throw my wetsuit and life jackets all sandy and dripping in the back

And the lines of the ute are pretty cool now. Specially with the body kits.

I use the ute as a ute but besides that it's cheaper than the sedan, resale value on utes is traditionally heaps better, rego is cheaper and now I don't get taken for a taxi service anymore
