I would get a remote unit. I think they are legal in NZ. Have a read about the new remote Creative W500 CT4 (Hidden) unit they seem to be the choice item

numerous threads on this, donr waste you cash, purchase a CB radio, the best radar detector I have ever had to contend with, I think the other boys will agree
