The police detectors pick up that there is a frequency in the vicinity at the same freq as their radar.I always thought about this being overcome by adequate shielding, but I guess they havent found a good way yet. As to whether the cops still use them, dont know... but they would have to be quite on the ball with them.

Does anyone have any recent (last few years) knowledge of police using detector detectors? I know years ago the Police were able to detect them. The Solo 2 has VG2 which means when it detects a detector detector it turns it's self off. Is this successfully in making them undetectable?anyone sick of the word Detector yet? Why would a Grandpa need to buy a radar detector for? Grandpa's drive nice and SLOW, especially one I know driving a PURPLE car! Im the one who needs a radar detector after the snowy mountain cruise Rob...p.s How are you anyway? The police minister was on the radio and even she said "Radar detectors have a negligible effect on the road toll but these new laws are sending a strong message."STRONG MESSAGE OF WHAT?!? They are determined to empty our wallets even if we stray over the limit by just a few k's? If they were fair about it I wouldn't have needed to buy one in the first place. I don't intentionally speed but I do concentrate on the road more than my speedo. The multanova can't tell the difference though.

It's like saying "watch out for speed cameras"... it doesnt matter if you're not speeding.

Save you every time.
