Is that green thing the standard shift stick.

I like the strong spring and the short of the my malwood in my typhoon. Also removing the rubber bush really firms up the feel.

What I dont understand is why people fit a very short stick which reduces the leverage to smash those shifts. Plus its closer to the steering wheel.

Have had the Mal Wood unit in my car (FG MkII) for a week now.

Much nicer shift action, tight and precise unlike the sloppy stock shifter.

XJR, are dealers fitting this now?

sixman,

there are a few Ford workshops in Sydney who will do the job but most wont. Some of the guys at Brad Garlick Ford are a bit nuts like us so they did the job for experience and now would be happy to do it for anyone.

Aaronm, that green bit is the stock shifter. In fact everything you see in that picture is how the shifter is sold. you can just buy the leather boot, or the knob, you have to buy the whole lot at $500. I fought Ford for a while to have it replaced as the leather wrap came loose and span around the knob. I was out of warranty by a few months, but still just sh*t quality and they want $500.

The green bolts face the ICC and bolts up to the short throw.

B series bolts face east/west not north south like the fg's. Some mod work would be required to fit a hurst shifter to an fg as the shifter would be 90 degs out if you where to just bolt it up.

Naked hurst shifter:
