Hi guys,

My brother has a BA Mk11 Futura,

If you accelerate slowly from take off you get what sounds like a slight thump under floor in front of drivers seat. It is an auto, and doesn`t happen all the time. It has been to the mechanics but nothing stands out , I have a feeling it could be the tranny but it is intermittent and appears only in 1st.

has anybody had this problem?

BAII? - maybe the drive shaft! I had a similar problem. Put it in drive and foot on the brake and put a bit of power down. So the drive train loads up. Do the same in reverse. This often shows up drive shaft problems. May be other things but worth a try.

Stang is it only on the first take-off after it's started (if that makes any sense)? Could be the ABS priming.

Both my BA & BF did it - but it would be after I drove up the driveway, slowed down then turned on to the street and drove off.

Yeah if it makes a 'tap tap tap tap' sound as you first drive off after starting the car, when you get to about 10km/h it will be the ABS system priming. My car does it also.
