Hey Guys, I thought seeing alot of the new guys that come along always seem to ask similar questions and one of them is how do you remove those plasic push in scrivets that seem to hold alot of plastic parts from falling off.

Here is a short video I dd yesterday on how to do it.

In hindsight I should have said what I was doing as I was doing it but I think people will be able to work it out.

All you have to do is get a small flat screwdriver and slip it between the head of the screw and the plastic surround.

Pull up with enough force to raise the screw enough that you can remove it.

Hope the video helps

CHeers

James

there's no way I could get a flat blade screwdriver under the inner rivit bit, without gauging the f* out of the "scrivet". The only way I can do it is to unsrew the middle while holding the outer bit, which it then screws out easily. Dunno if there is a thread in there but im guessin so as is come straight out.

Are yours pretty wornout?

any other names for these? I've lunched so many and should replace them

You can buy em from supercrap, and other auto stores, but they only come in little packs of 2, I buy them, and the other smaller scrivets (for the bars and splashtrays) in bulk from a guy who come in to work in a van selling screws n clips n sh*t, you dont need to buy from ford and pay a fortune for them... just look up a local screw and clip guy... :bopp:

They have been in and out a couple of times but that's the way I have always done it.

Even the first time when it was super tight I still used a real sharp screwdiver and it worked fine.

Transcooler install went good. Dont have any video of it but a few pics.

Might do another 'how to' but Hanra already has done one. SHould I bother???

Dunno. When I first tried undoing one years ago I was turning the screwdriver forever.

Dont they pop up/come loose a little when you give them a half turn with a Phillips head....

Yeh pritty much, second option would be to use a hair dryer for a few seconds to weaken it and then try use a flat head, worked for me :stirthepot:
