Worth trying Shannons. I have had two Harleys, an XB GT and a very modified (550+hp) xD ute with them and premiums were reasonable from memory. They specialise in modified and performance cars. I'd go with them for the XR but I've financed it on a novated lease this time.

I just got another quote from AAMI:

$798 60% no claim, no under 25 drivers etc etc.

All this is fine and reasonable but...

How come the replacement value of the car is $45,000 when the purchase price was $56,000? The 56K being the sum insured???

No drivers under 25?

That a funny policy coming from AAMI who said they wouldn't insure me at all because I wasn't 30.

Cool, that means I'll insure it under someone elses name with the same clause and drive till my hearts content. :o

As for Shannons, I think you will find that their premiums for new cars are not that competitive. I have an older car insured with them and they're great for that but they basically told me not to even ask about the T.

19 years old and a T owner - I MUST have done something wrong.......

On insuring under someone else's name...

Doesn't work, it is the age of the driver when the claim is made that is the clincher. Not who paid the insurance.

On Shannons...

Yes I have had a Harley insured through them, but they are not interested in modern cars. They do the modified, specialty niche market.

Believe me, I know. Insurance companies don't need much of an excuse to refuse payment let alone trying something like this.

Insured through RACQ in queensland, no worries with the under 25 thing. I am 24, my fiance is only 20 and she is also on the policy as a nominated driver, that did jack the price up a bit though. Quoted $880 per year, live in country just outside toowoomba. Huge excesses though due to our poor driving history.

I got several quotes before I ordered:

Direcdial (now allianz) wouldn't offer insurance even though they insured my EFXR6 for 4 years!

MCMS $3500 (novated lease)

NRMA $1100

NAB $940

Leaseplan $670

I wonder who I decided to go through... ;)

29, 60% NCB (bike & car)

Canberra

Hey,

I have just insured mine for $2485 with CGU Insurance. The bummer with this is that I am just on 21 which is why the premium is so high, but for full comprehensive, new car within 2 years or >30000Km and being and XR6T it is worth it. CGU is by far the cheapest for under 25's.

I am interested where people are insuring their XR6Ts. The prices I have been quoted are poison. I am 40 with a good history and still can't find anything under $1900.
