I wouldn't put dry ice into the airbox, like xrfranjo said, it is carbon dioxide. I'm not sure how quickly it will turn into gas and go into the engine, but we want as much oxygen in there as possible :)

I've seen plenty of people put dry ice up against the front of their intercooler.. that works great in dropping the intake temps as the air rushes past the dry ice, then past the intercooler I'm sure that will help drop the intake air temp a fair bit.

About 10 years ago, someone in Japan was working on an A/C system where intake air was refrigerated. They were showing huge power gains on dyno testing, but I don't think they got over the problems of a practical working aplication.

using a proper dry ice setup intake temps of -20 degrees can be obtained.

the guys using these setups have to install expensive throttle bodies so as not to freeze open.

You could use a water to air cooler after your air to air unit. Refrigerate the water supply to the water to air cooler with dry ice and there you go. - intake temps.
