need some help I have gotten as far as taking the 4 bolts out and loosening the 2 that are fouled by the oil return line but it seems my exhaust housing is stuck solid onto the core of the turbo so far I have tried hitting it with a mallat wd40 trying to turn it but it just wont budge.

sooo does any1 have any ideas or is it best to just give to my tuner to pull off as I dont know how how easy it is to break the fins if I smash it to hard with the hammer??

Mine is the same mate, have a new housing to go on but stuffed if the old ones is coming off without a fight!!

I didn't want to damage fins or bend the shaft so left it be for the mechanic who puts the new turbo on, to change my rear housing over.

Apparently they require lots of heat, and then should just about drop off.

This is probably a stupid question but is there supposed to be a gasket between the turbo and exhaust manifold? I'm guessing yes but dont remember seeing it when I pulled it off (was in a hurry to get the turbo to the shop though) and cant find the old one anywhere.

Damn! Should've looked here before I bolted it back on. Called ford and they said it didnt need one. Seems strange to me but oh well. Hopefully it's ok because I dont want to have to give them another $48 for studs.

Had a go at this myself this weekend and was a easy process that only took 6 hours or so with R&R of turbo and a few breaks.

Has a obvious crack but that's no biggie and will be addressed in due course.

Just used a Dremel/snake adaptor along with appropriate cutting/smoothing tools.

boost up top is not an issue, it's mid range boost when a stronger actuator is used with a free flowing exhaust and intake.

how about a pic of the flapper open and what size flapper did you use?
