Im starting to think the supply screen is a bad idea. Im going to have a bit or a search around to try and find a larger screen that can be remote mounted to make servicing easier.

I'm thinking the same, and will remove the screen before fitting the new turbo.

A small inline filter on the feed line, in a place where it is possible to get to it would be ideal, so if you come across something suitable, please let me know.

the oil line does go right around the front of the block, in plain view, so why the screen is buried under the intake manifold is beyond me. I am also very interested in a different setup luke, so please let me know too.

Just been having a quite looksee and have found this stuff from earls that might fit the bill.

-4an is aprox 6mm and -6an is 10mm so the -6an filter with the -6an to 3/8 adaptors would probably work well. You could cut the supply like and install this on the front of the engine where the oil feed line

runs across the timing cover. In sure it would be very easy to rig up some sort of mount and clamp setup to support the filter. It would be very easu to access and service if it was mounted there.

You didnt by any chance blow an intake hose off recently Ninka did you? Snapped shafts can also be a result of a turbo over rev. I have a lot of customers experience the same thing generally within about 2 weeks after blowing a hose off...

probably the best idea iv'e heard of on this site great work guys keep us all up to date on what you come up with I'm still saving for a trans so experamental work like this I can't afford at the moment

Got a reply back from the supplier

The filter screen assembly is $61.88 and the two fittings required to install it are $41.25. so for a little over a hundred bucks it may turn out to be a good solution.

No hoses blown off.

Got the 'new' turbo back today, complete replacement of everything except the exhaust and compressor housings :nono:

A BIG thank-you to a member here, who has been extremely helpful in getting my turbo fixed quickly :sniffle:

On further investigation today, I have found that NO oil is coming through the feed line with the engine running for a minute or so, so it is well and truly blocked.

Will pull it apart tomorrow, and should then have a better idea what may be causing this, but I did clean the screen less than 10,000k's ago, so it is a bit of a mystery.
