When bleeding brakes the correct order is to always go from the furthest caliper from the master cylinder to the closest. So of course in the case of a right hand drive vehicle with the master cylinder on the right hand side, you go LR, RR, FL and then FR.

This method is applied to all cars with hydraulic brakes.

After considering for a while what to do to improve the Premium brakes on my 2002 BA(F), I have decided to fit DBA 5000 series 2 piece front rotors, and upgrade the rears to BF specification, which are larger than the BA brakes, and also ventilated.

Expect to get the components next week, and will post pictures when I have fitted the kit :buttrock:

Have you noticed any difference in the performance of the DBA5000's compared to the OEM dual groove all iron discs?

Regards,

aa

Haven't got the 5000's yet, they were delayed :spoton:

Finished fitting the BF rears today :msm:

And YES that are VERY close to the inside of the rim, but JUST clears it

Ninka,

I have a some questions.....

Is this a BA or AU backend?

I noticed you have no backing plate/splash shield. Did you remove it?

What was the pedal like after you finished bleeding the brakes?

Finally, have you noticed any change in braking performance?

When I did the same mods to mine the backing plate had to be trimmed to avoid any fouling or scraping.

Removal is another option though.

The pedal is certainly much firmer with the premos/braided lines/BF II rears and the pedal height is unchanged.

However it all comes off next weekend to fit AP 6 spot/4 spot. :spoton:

It's a BA XR6 Turbo

The backing plates are there, but as they are smaller than the disc, you cannot see them. Edge bevelling had to be trimmed slightly to fit the caliper.

Pedal feel is unchanged (as you would expect)

Braking is better, with a more confident feel

Dingah,

Thanks for your feedback.

Why do you think it is necessary to go to AP 6 spot/4 spot brakes? It seems a lot of money for what may be little additional benefit.

Ninka,

Thank you also for your feedback.

I should have thought about the size of the disk.

I noticed you have used braided hoses. Could you have used the standard hoses? (This is the only thing I haven't reseached yet)

What braided hoses did you use, where did you get them and how much?

Thanks once again.

I have had the braided hoses for a couple of years, they were supplied by PBR as part of the 'Premium' upgrade.

Couldn't tell you the price :Sug1:

I think we run the same rims, so either the brake guy didn't check it properly, or there are subtle differences on the rims, as it definitely doesn't touch, though it is very close :roflmbo:
