I found it quite time consuming as space is quite limited. Was easier to take the oil filter off and remove the entire air box assy.

I wouldnt say its easier, I thought it was quite a sh*t of a job. I needed to pull airbox/oil filter out to get to it from the top and bottom. I put the car up on car stands.

I honestly dont think cleaning the filter is a good idea, as ive mentioned before, I pulled mine out, cleaned it then checked it under a microscope and it was still blocked. I then put it in the ultrasonic cleaner, tried a few more chemicals then had another look under the scope and there were still metal fragments in there.

I think its either remove or replace. Dont clean.

I have mine booked in tomorrow to have it removed, but if you say it can't be cleaned properly, then obviously it still catches stuff now I'm wondering replacement or removal?

Yep, Auto. But to make things worse for myself. My oil pressure sender for my Autometer gauge is T'd into where the stock one is. Its quite a large round sender which is right next to where the filter assy is. So space is fairly limited. I use a deep socket to undo it and a spanner to hold it all, but I need to cut the spanner down, its way to long.
