Yes the Circlip is tricky to get out but can be done. I was lucky enough to remove mine which enabled me to remove the fine filter assembly completly. I then reinstalled the circlip, just for some extra support for the banjo bolt due to the groove in the banjo bolt for the circlip being quite deep.

I guess you could leave the circlip out all together, but cant see it doing any harm being reinstalled.

Just take it out hey. Completely un-necessary. Runs better without as the turbo can actually have a drink. You cant even see through that gause its so dense its a wonder there was not a recall like subaru had. If I knew about this thing when my car was brand new, it would have been out at once.

Kinda makes sense. I mean how many other Garrett turbo powered cars are running around that never had this type of filter?

As mentioned earlier, the oil filter does a good enough job in protecting the engine, why would it not be good enough to protect the turbo?
