A nine-year-old boy crashed his parents' car through a fence after taking it on a joyride through a western Sydney suburb, police say.

A NSW Police spokesman said the boy got behind the wheel of his family's black Ford XR8 in Macquarie Fields at about 4.30pm (AEST) today.

He drove it through several suburban streets before crashing through a fence at the intersection of Eucalyptus Drive and Bangalay Place.

"He has fled from the vehicle but was detained by police a short distance away," a police spokesman said.

The boy was taken to Campbelltown hospital for observation and the car was towed from the scene of the crash.

Police inquiries are continuing.

An open-and-shut case of 'justifiable homicide' coming up

there is more to the story!!

the boy took the AU xr8 down the street and past a riot squad truck full of police that had just left the local high school as there was a group of teenagers trying to break in.

the boy was dressed in his yellow and brown school uniform and could not see over the steering wheel!!

after crashing the car into a fence the boy jumped out,

a witness says the boy started running away and had 15 police chasing him on foot!!

once police got him he started crying!!

saying he was sorry!!

last night police confirmed they did not charge him as the boy was under the age of 10...

3 police cars were damaged as well as the front end of the AUxr8!!!

When will parents and car owners for that matter learn to lock their cars and keep the keys "out of reach" :stirthepot:

What a preventable waste

I think everyone else is the same, very hard to be politically correct when talking about the bottom-feeders of the gene pool :tease:

I am way past trying to be PC with these people. I think I will donate some money for research into retrospective abortions.
