Tells ya what panda there's some bargains to be had on fleabay!!!

Compared to the inflated prices of baking stores here!

I got a huge silicone high temp fondant rolling mat and andant cutter and embossed and smoother and cake lever for under $20 and the foam fake cake teirs are only like $2 each

Just lost a bloody long post..

Recipe was pm'd.

Anyhow..

This gist was look up books by:

Edwald Notter: chocolate and confectionery

Michel Suas: breads and pastries

Toba garret: decorating

Buddy valastro: recipes

I don't think many books will actually teach you how to make a tasty cake..

Most of that has always been trial and error for me.. Make a cake, adjust recipe, make it again..

But there is no point making an awesome looking cake if it tastes like crap (not saying yours taste bad but I've had some shockers at weddings)..

Oh ye I totally hear u!!!

Some cakes taste crap... Even if they taste good theres no point! I'm in the middle of perfecting a vanilla sponge cake batter that I can adjust for cupcakes etc but mud cake I think Is ok... It's hard though coz people think "of ye I bake" and it's like "dude white wings don't count" haha

Thanks ever so much for all your help and recipie panda!!!!

Your a sweat heart

Naww shucks..

Keep up those comments and I'll be typing up all my own recipes..

Oddly enough I am not completely against packet mixes.. Brilliant if you need something quick, and certain mixes have an excellent starting base you just need to tweak the recommended ingredients a bit.. However the trick is: Never tell them it's a packet mix.

So much comes down to baking times and temps though.. It's very hard to teach but trial and error is an excellent way to learn..

I think it's time to go join the local CWA and piss off all the old broads again..

Hahah....

I use them sometimes... As u said u never tell ahah..

For big cakes I use a mix from my baking lady who sells baking supplies from home... It's a really chunky mid cake mix and u add water eggs melted chocolate and its done... It's easier when in such a large quantity for someone inexperienced like me coz u know that it will make x amount and it will be good ... Just incase haha

I used to make alot of my own mixes.. Unfortunately it worked okay when we were turning out 20kg of mud cake a day.. But when at home I just don't eat enough to be that keen :-P
