My girlfriend is looking at buying the 2004 RS impreza.

Just wondering if anyone has one or knows about them, and can answer these questions?

1) Wats the weakest part of the car to look at when buying one second hand?

2) Do they run/sound good with a bigger exhaust even though they dont have the turbo?

3) Are the Factory services expensive?

4) Are spare parts expensive?

5) Finally, what should one in good excellent condition (less than 30,000km) be worth?

I know SF All about Suby's.

Cheers!

My wife has a 2001 Subaru Impreza RX, they are a great car.

Here are some answers to your questions.

1) Haven't really noticed any weak parts.

2) I've heard a couple with bigger exhausts and sounded good.

3) All factory services are relatively expensive. You don't need to have the factory service to keep warrenty.

4) Haven't used alot of spares but most imported cars have more expensive spares than local cars.

5) Not sure on 2004 prices. I'm currently selling my wifes, it has 75000km's and I'm asking 20000. They range from 21000-25000 in the yards. I'd think 2004 would be worth high 20000's

Hope this helps.

Geea.

MS700 may be able to help you with more info as our work sell and service Subarus. Also, Trumpy I think has a 2004 Liberty, he will be able to give you more info. I recall he said his is running sweet, no probs except for some minor dash rattles. My Mum had a 1998 Imprezza, never missed a beat except for a flat battery, but that was because it has been sitting unused for 3 months. Gotta keep the air up to the front tyres, they scrub easily, 40psi at least.

I have a WRX, fantastic build quality, I have super low springs and 19's on it for 3 years. Not one rattle or squeak.

The gearboxes are sh*t and will break at any given time (luck of the draw), but if she isn't dropping the clutch it will be OK.

I would only pay $23 for that car, if that.

The N/A don't have the unequal length headers like the WRX does, or not to the same degree, so you don't get the rumble as good.

Not much else to say really, except that the only reason I have one is because it's got a turbo. A lot better cars, looks wise around for that money then a SUbaru.
