What do you peeps define as low boost for a screamer pipe?

By the way, those who are planning a holiday to Phuket, book it! Just had 10 nights there and loved it. Quad bikes in the jungle FTW!

Nerds, got a question for you..

I think my hdd is getting a bit slow (4 years old) and I would like to upgrade to windows 7. Was thinking about a format but was then told it might be better to just get a brand new hdd and install windows 7 on that. Essentially will have a brand new pc so to speak.

Have I been given the bum steer or is this logical? Would I upgrade teh ramz as well?

If you do mean the actual hard drive, the small part inside the case that holds your info, then the problem there is your CPU (maths brain) is 4 years old. Might feel crappy. Same with RAM, you should have at least 2GB by now, 4GB or more isn't $ at all, we're talking $50 if you shop around and your PC takes the modern RAM.

You can get the motherboard, CPU, HDD and RAM for a new PC to stick in your existing case for like $500 and get a fast as hell PC for normal web surfing etc. This might need a new power supply though, so add $50-$80. If you want flash 3d games then you're looking more around a grand.

These are hardware only mind, not software as well. get Windows 7 for $20 legit from uni if a mate of yours goes!! Same for Office. Or be a bloodthirsty pirate if you can be bothered.

Check out net plus for an example of some of the cheapest retail prices.

New LCD/LED screens are cheap too, though probably not as cheap as a deal we have on offer by wholesaler right now. as part of a CAD PC package we can get 2x24" LCDs for like $120 each....! Not a crappy brand either. Won't be that cheap on their own of course.

Spotted an F6E today, in the dark maroon colour. plates something like [GMB8 F6E] or something...with a smashed up rear end! Saw on Main St on the way to and from work. Left rear bumper protruding rudely to the side... sad.

Steve, sounds like I was missing out some info.. Once my mate gets back from work I'll get him to send that photo through as well.

So new hdd, CPU and ram (I have 2gb already) and I'm laughing? Would love to keep it around the 400 mark... I just want it for general stuff. No gaming. I already have a 22" monitor as well

Was told 200 online for windows 7 but one of my blokes at work is at uni so how does he get it for me?

He goes to the bookshop and buys it! Hah. At least that's how it works at Murdoch. You need student card I'd imagine.

Your RAM needs to fit new motherboard - DDR3 is popular now, you probably have DDR2 or even DDR! There's a bit more to it than that as well but for desktop use/midget porn viewing you don't need to worry about how many channels of RAM you're running, as long as it boots anyway hahaha.

Your CPU won't fit a new board.

Cheapest option is get only a new HDD, format and reinstall. But the PC is 4 years old so will die in the arse soon. Hardware I mean.

If you're willing to spend $500, get an all new PC. Especially if you can Windows off a uni student and don't have to buy an OEM copy with the PC. For $500 hardware only you'll get everything new with 3 years warranty. If you're not gaming it'll work like a dream for whatever else you throw at it.

Hmmm that could be an option? I just want windows 7 and a new fresh computer that will browse the net, iTunes etc. CBF with torrents and sh*t anymore. My budget is $500 tops because my house is sending me broke!

RAM and GPU and possibly motherboard sound a bit overkill, be more specific on the GPU, xfx are just a manufacturer, like ford and holden. It'll have a specific model, like nVidia gt980 or w/e. Which is essentially the engine in the ford or holden.
