  1. Hi All, I'm new here so go easy, and I'm hoping this can help! I just wanted to share some stuff on here as I had one hell of a time finding it out for myself. After hours of searching and much experimenting with my own FGX G6E I have finally got the Sync 2 Stereo in my FGX sounding right, and this was no easy task. Honestly even after changing all the speakers to quality splits, it souded like they all had pillows in front of them and the louder I turned up the volume, the worse this got. Something had to be done! I'm not going to go into the install of the components but more along the lines of what As-Built Settings you need to change to get your custom speaker/Amp/sub install sounding as it should. You can in fact re-program the Sync 2 to give you Preset Equaliser options, and you can re-program the Audio Control Module (ACM) to output line out levels (RCA +4Volts) from the speaker wires, not only this but you can also re-program the ACM to give you a flat unprocessed output from 20-20000hz and I'll explain why this is important shortly. I have a G6ET which is fitted with the premium audio, and although I haven't tried these mods on any other FGX vehicles, I reckon there is a good chance they will work on all of them. Anyway for me I have purchased a monoblock amp replaced the sub in the rear parcel shelf, changed the speakers and have them running off of a 4 channel amp. The Sub amp gets its signal from the front speaker cables. For those interested the Speaker cables in the front kick panels are the same colour coding as the FG MK2 (which I owned previously also) Right Front: Grey/Green (Neg-) & Grey/Black (Pos+) Right Rear: Blue/Red (Neg+) & Blue Black(Pos+) Left Front: Orange/Light Green (Neg-) & Orange/Black (Pos+) Left Rear: Pink/Green (Neg-) & Pink/Black (Pos+) Once you are wired up you will need to use FORscan(software on Win10) and an OBDLink MX adaptor (tool which plugs into you OBD port) to change the following AS-Built data (sorry you'll have work out this bit for yourself) To Get the Preset Equaliser Options in Sync 2 you will need to change the following; Select the APIM Module, and change the value of the large X to 8. 7D0-01-02 xxxx xXxx xxxx - Enables Preset EQ 0 (Disabled - Default) 8 (Enabled) My original string looked like this 7D0-01-02 0420 0200 0000 With the Preset Equaliser Enabled it looks like this 7D0-01-02 0420 0800 0000 Once Written, Sync will reset itself and the Preset EQ settings should appear. To Disable Factory EQ Processing (This does not affect the BASS/MID/TREB control or the Preset EQs they will still work, this only effects what the ACM does after all of that) The Factory EQ processing that the ACM changes are the Bass and Treble frequencies, it effectively 'rolls them off' as you turn the volume up and that's why the louder it goes the worse it sounds (even with all new amps and speakers) I believe Ford use this fuction to stop your average Motorist from blowing up their crappy factory speakers whilst turning up there favourite tracks. *Prior to doing this modification, turn your volume down* Select the ACM Module and change the values as follows 727-01-02 xXxx - Disables Factory EQ Processing 1 (Enabled - Default) 0 (Disabled) My original string looked like this 727-01-02 0132 With the factory EQ processing disable it looks like this 727-01-02 0032 Once this is written and you cycle the car off/on you will notice a big difference in the sound, especially as you turn the volume up. It will also be alot louder so make sure all your gains on your amps are down as wellyou should now have a clear and unprocessed signal going to your speaker wires (still at speaker level output voltages) In theory you could just have aftermarket speakers connected to the head unit without any amps and they should sound much better, but I have not tried this so proceed with caution. To Change the ACM output Voltage From factory to drive the speakers I believe this comes out at up to about +8V (controlled by the volume control) on the speaker wires as listed above, to be clear, this doesn't magically give you RCA output and bypass the existing amplifier, it only changes the output voltage, so you wouldn't have to use a Speaker Level to RCA level converter to connect to the RCA inputs on your aftermarket amplifier. it also helps avoid 'potential' signal clipping, which once amplified can destroy speakers. Select the ACM Module and change the following values 727-01-01 xxXx xxxx xxxx - Enables Line Level Output 0 (Disabled - Default) 5 (Enabled) My original string looked like this 727-01-01 9E01 1800 806E With the line level output enabled 727-01-01 9E51 1800 806E So you could now hook up your RCA plugs to you speaker wires! always remember to turn down all your volumes/gains prior to trying some music. Your volume control will work as normal. If you are not happy you can just put your old values back in and re-write them to the modules as discussed, Please Make shure you save your factory values before proceeding with these Mods. Hopefully this helps and offers hope to some of you who like myself think the Ford Premium Audio Systems are just not up to scratch (lucky they are so good to drive!)
  2. Hey all! Finally got a car that I've drooled over since they came out, the ford g6! 77,000kms, 2010, ex navy (not turbo unfortunately, please don't judge me, I'm on a budget! haha) I love it, lots, however, I already have some questions/ideas in mind for it... - I want blutooth and USB/iPod connectivity, but the base model g6 didn't include this... the head unit stereo part looks very...unchangeable. I'd assume I'd have to get it professionally replaced with a G6E stereo unit? Is there anything that I could do to get the same result? The feedback through the aux is a little annoying (coming from a superb custom sound system in a sh*tbox pulsar, it just doesn't cut it). I also want to be able to just jump in the car and my music start playing! I haven't looked into it too much, but does anyone have any suggestions? Remember...budget! hahaha - Every morning (or when I first start the car) and slip it into reverse, the whole car kind of jolts, and makes a loud clunk noise, however after the initial gear change it doesn't do it. Perhaps because of the cold engine? Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks a bunch! and I'm glad to be a part of this community! :D
  3. Hi guys I have a 2009 FG XR6T (manual) I have done some mods to it as listed below and get 300rwkw atm. But I am not satisfied with the tune....it runs ok but smokes a bit and sometimes even pings on uphill 3rd gear in high revs. I want to find a genuine good tuning place where the guys do a good job and know what they are doing. Currently: I have full turbo back 4inch exhaust, upgraded valve springs, bigger injectors, and a tune. Boosts upto 15PSI. PS I do not have a flash tuner atm they just tuned it on the same ECU. All I want to do is upgrade the intercooler and SS intake piping and get a nice tune done so that its running nicely without troubles. I am not chasing a huge power figure just want it to be reliable & running well enough to be my daily drive as well as fun mobile for them hill runs. Please let me know where is a good genuine place for such things. I am located around Ringwood side but don't mind driving to a god place. Thanks
  4. G'day, Can anyone provide me with a step by step for removing the stock turbo and installing a GTX3582R, with reference to changing oil lines and necessary mods that need to be made in the upgrade? Can you simply replace the stock turbo with a GTX3582R? Cheers
  5. Hi team, Did a bit of a search to find a comprehensive list of the limits to the different parts on the B series XR6T's, nothing came up. There is a sticky on the FG's but they are a different beast. I guess all the info is here on this site individually, but a nice list would be handy. If we could group source the info and sticky it, might help newbies like myself. Been a Fordmods member for a long time, but they don't seem to have as much knowledge in their userbase on the factory turbo sixes as on here. If we could list the parts, and fill in the blanks about what is reliably accepted from the following components: Factory Injectors: I've been told 10psi will push them to their safest limit. Factory Fuel pump: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory dump pipe: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory Cat: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory exhaust: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory wastegate actuator: good for ??? psi, anything more requires upgrade. Factory Wastegate flapper: good for ??? psi, anything more requires upgrade. Factory intercooler: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory piping: good for ??? psi, anything more requires upgrade. Factory valve springs: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory Throttle Body: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. Factory Tubocharger: good for ??? rwkw, anything more requires upgrade. etc etc. That way those newer to the ways of the XR6T can look up what parts are likely to restrict first, and plan an upgrade path, rather than just go about slapping bits on, without the right supporting mods. Thanks in advance for the help.
  6. Hi guys my turbo just gave way, bearings stuffed. looking at replacing it with this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-XR6-Turbocharger-BA-BF-Typhoon-Garrett-GT35R-Turbo-gt3540-t3-t4-billet-/350998013263?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b91ca54f&_uhb=1 will pay the extra $110 to get their oil feed kit as well so I can get the 12mth warranty any thoughts? just a bit wary about the price that's all
  7. Hi guys, Got a Turbo Terri Ghia 2006 Blew the turbo and just purchased this replacement setup on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231093047129&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123 Whilst its out I wouldn't mind spending some cash on the turbo for some upgrades to get some quicker spool/more flow etc, can anyone suggest if these are worth it or just a waste of money and time: .70 front housing upgrade: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251381656068?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Billet wheel upgrade: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271306378220?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Flutter mod: I dont know how to do this yet, is it something that can be done at home, do I need to replace the internal gate flutter? Also upgrading with that aftermarket exhaust manifold, Plazmaman stage 2 intercooler kit. already have the following mods: 4 inch dump to cat high flow 4 inch cat dual 2.75 magnaflow cat back Injectors Chip ECU with hand controller (this it was like SRT or something) Tuned by Xtreme ford tuning on around 13PSI. plazmaman under the battery intake kit
  8. Hello G6ET friends. I am curious...has anyone upgraded their subwoofer and speakers in their G6ET? I have purchased one of late, and find the premium audio, isn't so premium afterall. Anyone else find the audio lacking a little oomph? Cheers! Cam
