  1. Hey all, I have a 04 Ba Xr6T (with BTR gearbox). Looking at getting up to 300rwkw. Car is currently stock as a rock, but after researching for a while I have come up with a list of things im gonna need to support reaching that mark but without sacrificing the reliability to much. As this is my daily I'm not looking for cheap power but also not wanting to spend loads. If things need to bought then I will but trying to avoid to much. Here is my list, let me know your thoughts. Venom Turbo back exhaust system (4" downpipe -> dual 2.5Inch system). PWR Trans Oil Cooler Kit - With trans guage to monitor temps. Demon Pro Parts XR6 Oil Catch Can. 4″ Turbo Side Intake & Passenger Tray Battery relocation suit XR6 Turbo. Plazmaman BA/BF BAR & PLATE 650HP CROSSOVER INTERCOOLER KIT. Turbosmart 25mm kompact duel port bov. Walbro 460 460LPH Fuel Pump. 1000cc BOSCH Fuel injectors x 6. Crow Cams valve springs. Barra Billet 4340 Oil Pump Gears. Internal Wastegate Actuator. Built BTR Transmission to support. Other mods outside of engine to support the body is not listed here. Thanks.
  2. I'm dealing with an issue on my 2003 BA turbo manual where the fuel pump relay is not getting a trigger signal from the PCM. The car is tuned with an SCT flash tuner, but this was done years ago, this issue is only recent. The fuel pump does not get a signal from the PCM to prime or run. Sometimes disconnecting the battery and letting the PCM reset will fix it, sometimes it won't, but eventually it stops working and won't work again until reset. The fuel pump and all its wiring after the fuse box is fine, the car runs without issue if I bridge out the fuel pump relay with a jumper wire. I have swapped and tested multiple relays and changed the inertia switch, didn't fix it. The wires between the PCM and the fuel pump relay are fine (<1ohm), and all the PCM pins and connectors look fine, so I'm convinced the PCM isn't opening the ground signal to open the fuel pump relay (it does have 12v on the coil side). When it happens it throws code P0230 fuel pump relay primary circuit malfinction. Has anyone encountered this before and has any idea where to look next? Is my PCM dead? Any advice is appreciated, thanks

G’day I have a exhaust manifold gasket that’s leaking obviously on My BA XR6 Turbo and I was wondering whether I could unbolt the 12 manifold bolts and slightly pull the manifold away and remove the gasket and then slide the new one back in and bolt the manifold back up without having to remove the whole thing with the turbo? an answer would be mint, cheers

Howdy, I know this has been a topic previously I would appreciate some wisdom as to whether there is a way or not to access the exhaust manifold to turbo gasket bolts and also the turbo to exhaust gasket bolts without taking the whole turbo off as I’m not well experienced in doing so, as I can’t seem to reach them when having the car on a hoist or from above, I would prefer to do it myself rather than take it to a mechanic because of the labour cost. The vehicle has a shocking exhaust leak at the moment and it’s coming from one of the turbo gaskets, definitely doesn’t seem to be the exhaust manifold gasket. It’s a loud ticking under load and whistling+ticking under boost, when rev matching it almost sounds like a car without an exhaust manifold lol. Just want it fixed asap. thanks

Hey guys hoping someone on here can help, my car is a 2005 BAMK2 XR6 Turbo Manual. long story short I took my car to a tuner, got the car back with a very dim/faint battery light on. initially we thought the alternator was on the way out so I replaced it, made no difference. then realised the battery was going flat over night. went on a rampage changing the alternator, battery, and starter motor. none of these fixed the issue. more and more weird stuff happens with the car, for example when I turn the car off the instrument cluster flickers like a Christmas tree then turns completely off. then if I put the handbrake down whilst the cars off, the traction control light turns on very very dim. not sure if its related but a few years ago my surge tanks fuse melted, same thing happened the other week hence why I've decided to finally address this annoying issue. I also noticed on the odd rare occasion after parking the car at night I've seen the front headlights indicators on very very faintly barley noticeable as if they were getting a small current. also when I connect my battery my interior dome light flashes for a second (I installed an LED interior dome light by the way). also usually when listening to music, the right side speakers stop working leading me in having to turn the volume up really loud for them to kick back in and start working. I don't drive the car much at all hence why I've had the issue for ages, I've temporarily overcome it by disconnecting the battery every time I park it up. there is a lot of weird things going on that I may have forgotten to mention which I will add to this thread as I remember... MAINLY, cars got a drain and faint/dim battery light on and is doing weird electrical things Thankyou in advance
  6. So this afternoon I put My Ba Xr6 turbo 5spd into second gear and gave it a boot till around 3,500rpm and could hear a super load ticking noise coming from the engine bay, replicated the same sound, only in second and as soon as boost starts kicking in. thoughts?
  7. Does anyone know what the factory sway bar thickness is for a BA XR6 sedan? just looking at getting some new bushes while I’m at work and don’t know what size to get. Few websites reckon 24mm
  8. With all the knowledge everyone has acquired over the years, what would the best transmission fluid be to put in a 2005 BA XR6 T5 manual transmission that’s behind a 240kw Barra turbo? I know they recommend DEXRON 2 and some sort of additive but I was thinking Penrite 75w80 gear oil? (As recommended by the penrite page ha) I am about to service the gearbox and not sure what to put in it as it’s out of a standard xr6 non turbo and I want to make sure the fluid helps preserve the gearbox as best as possible whilst giving the smoothest shifts. recommendations please 🙏 (I realise the best solution is a t56 but that’s later on lol)
  9. Evening everyone, I recently had a question that despite my research can’t find a definitive answer online and was wondering if the infinite wisdom of these forums might lend an insight into it. My xr6 turbo has been tuned a few years ago and since then I have deleted the factory middle muffler (dual in/dual out) with dual straight pipes, keeping the rear muffler in place and have no issues whatsoever with air/fuel ratio. I now am curious about whether I add a straight through muffler (dual in/dual out) at the rear instead of the chambered factory one, whether this will cause any leaning out without a retune? it still has factory dump/cat. opinions?

G’day, Today I went over a stupid unsigned pipe in the middle of the road and buckled my clean deep dish 20’s that I run on My Ba XR6 Turbo, so when I got home I decided to test fit some 17x8 G6E rims that I had lying about thinking I could run them whilst my 20’s get repaired. when putting the 17”s on the rear of the car and checking for any issues, I noticed a bolt that’s to do with the rear suspension/ lower control arm (if they have them at the rear lol) that sits about 2mm away from the inside of the rim due to their offset. Is this an issue if I go over bumps or will the bolt/rim be one unit and not touch while going over bumps etc? I would upload the pics but don’t know how to turn a pic into a url lol 🤓

  13. G'day everyone, I have a ba xr6t and the poor bugger has over 260,000 kms I bought her at the end of last year knowing full well of the excessive kms. Unfortunately I have started to appreciate it more and more and want to keep and potentially put some more power through her. The question is. Is. It. Worth. It. I dont wanna pour my soul and more importantly my wallet into her if its just not gunna be worth it. I can do most of the work myself minus tuning and similar. Please let me know your opinions and experiences and I welcome sh*t talk haha.
  14. Hi there . My 2003 xr6 turbo factory falcon. Started chugging on me when I was a little low on gas . Third time now. I can't seem to run it under 30 k gas wise. So I had put gas in ( I will add I still had 33 k left. Driving just fine on motorway started chugging and shuttering so I pulled over turned her off and she went sweet again . Came into town and she started doing the same thing again over 100 k in tank still. She went into limp mode literally around the road from home. She sat for a few hours and went fine again . Then did limp mode again. But then this morning she's back to normal. I have had fuel filter replacement the first time this happened as I felt like it was something to do with fuel. As it's only ever when it gets low. I've had so much different advice. I don't even know where to start to be honest . Please help 🆘
  15. Hey lads I’m planning on building my first Barra in the near future and wanted to get a rough idea what work has to be done to the motor. I know I need to change all my rods, pistons, bearings, block and head machined ect... 1. I have read that people are running 1200+hp on a fg turbo crank that's been heat-treat and got me thinking if a fg crank would go straight into a ba-bf? Probably a stupid question but I have read there’s a couple differences between the ba-bf and fg. Only reason I ask is cause I can get a hold of a good fg F6 crank and I’m just planning on buying a cheap n/a ba-bf motor to build. 2. I’m looking to get around 7-800 on 98 for the street and around the 1000-1200hp on E85 so would I have to get the head ported and if so would it be cheaper and better to just exchange the head for a ported one? 3. I have been looking at the spool rebuild kit with custom CP forged pistons and spool drag pro I beam rods and going to run 14mm head studs. I’m a bit confused with all the different options like the all the oversized bearings. is it better to have all the bigger bearings? cause I’ve never built a high hp engine like this, I’ve only ever rebuilt diesels (trucks) and a couple old v8s with my old man when I was a kid. And with all the piston options I got taught by my old man the higher comp ratio in a N/A the more power and lower comp in boosted applications the more power but with technology nowadays it’s completely different from what I got taught. I know all these questions I’ve asked are simple and stupid questions but as I said I’ve never rebuilt a motor to give it more power. If yous could help me out with this stuff it would be great, I know I’m more than capable on putting it back together and for it to run like brand new, it’s just all this other sh*t just got me a bit stumped 😂😂 cheers boys 👍🏽
  16. Hey guys I’m sorta new to the Barra scene and I have bought a mk2 BA xr6 with a BF green top (gas) motor converted to straight petrol and was wondering if anyone on here has turboed one. The bloke I bought it off had blown the original motor up which was just a standard BA xr6 motor with a turbo bolted on it tuned to 270kw. I did a bit of research bout the BF-FG gas motors and a few sites had told me they had a 10.3:1 compression ratio and had very similar conrods to the Bf-FG turbo motors but have a press fit gudgen and the BF-FG turbo motors has a 8.7:1 compression ratio and have a full floating gudgen. I have been told you can get 450-500kw safe tune on a gas motor if you do head studs, value springs and exhaust but I thought I would do a bit more research and ask a forums page cause all you guys are here to help before I go spending money on more parts trying to get it to my 350-400kw goal. I was going to get value springs, plazmaman head gasket and head studs, 800hp plazmaman intercooler and piping, crow 639 or 640 cam, haltech ecu (if needed), 4” dump pipe with stainless 3.5” x force exhaust plazmaman, single feed fuel rail (not sure if I should go 6AN or 8AN with the fitting size) with ID1000cc injectors and try out a aeroflow 6662 1.06 T3 turbo with a screamer pipe later on down the track. And also wanted to know if you have to change the wiring loom when to go from a T5 gearbox to a T56. If yous could help me out I would really appreciate it. Cheers guys!

  18. Hey guys, I have a 2010 50th xr6 turbo and I have an issue in regards to my cluster. I am unable to set any of variables in the centre of the cluster like my fuel consumption or digital speed reading as an example. It displays it in the small icon/tab up the yop but any time I go to set one of these options in the centre of the cluster it makes the noise but does not appear. Have disconnected and reconnected battery and done all the basics with no luck. Any suggestions? Cheers
  19. Hi, I'm looking at exhaust options for my currently all stock xr6T BF MKII. I want it to be a little louder but am mainly after a nicer exhaust note and the ability to allow for higher flow if I choose to do some performance mods (I'm not going after any crazy kw numbers and am happy to keep it at stock or near stock power for the moment). I'm also deciding between catback or turboback options and price isn't too much of a concern but obviously if I can save a couple of bucks that'd be nice. I've seen brands like xforce, venom and a couple of others and was hoping you guys can share your personal experiences. Thanks!
  20. Hey guys just seeing if anyone has any ideas about what I should check next. my car has a pretty bad misfire under load (basically as soon as I hit boost it misfires and carries on). I’ve got brand new spark plugs and genuine coils. Intercooler has been cleaned so there shouldn’t be any oil residue in there from my old turbo sh*tting itself. The car is 480kw on e85 so it’s very noticeable when you hit boost and it misfires. When I replaced spark plugs and coils it fixed the issue for about 50km then it came back, I’m thinking of checking spark plug gap next? Just seeing if anyone has had the same issue. ive read other threads with this problem but nothing really helped

I just wanted to learn more knowledge on my car and what I should do to reach my current goal of around 330-370rwkws, I wouldn't push any more further as I know I would be likely to do a zf rebuild so far my car has only pushed for 235kw at the wheels when iI tuned it as the previous owner returned it down as close to stock form again, they've put a Chinese turbo on as opposed to the original Garret which didn't climb enough as id expected it do FG Mk2 Full 3'5 xforce system High flow cat 1000cc injectors KN Air Filter (still stock piping) Valve springs and headstuds (thanks to previous owner) Autotechnika intercooler I am expecting to upgrade the cooler and do a full piping kit also to a Plazmaman 1000hp cooler & since I don't have the stock turbo figured I'd be better off going straight for a GTX3582R Gen2 Any suggestions or recommendations on other supporting mods?

Hey guys, im in a bit of a pickle Ive recently blown my 6sp clutch burnt it out now she's cactus, my question is the clutch and flywheel are they a sing mass or a duel mass in the XR50 mine a 2010 XR6 ute but the xr50 model Ive been told by ford that they a duel mass and by others it's a si how I have no idea what part to buy has anyone else recently replaced the clutch do I need a single or a duel please help !!
  23. Hey guys. I know this is an absolute long shot. but, many a moon ago, (2010-2012, somewhere around that time) my father sold his beloved XR6 Turbo BA ute. And I'm trying to find out what happened to it. Rumour has it, it ended up in Sydney, but I'm not totally sure. It was sold in Qld. Unfortunately, all I have of that ute are some EXTREMELY low quality photos, I'm talking potato spec photos. The 4 photos I have left: Heres a quick block of info on the car. It was a fully built BA. Fully done suspension, 900kw at the wheels, 1600nm. It was an auto, but it absolutely raped gearboxes, I'm talking 5000-10000 km if you were lucky. So whoever bought it would have had all the fun in the world changing boxes. It had an alloy flatbed, and it had this blue carpet stuff attached to the flat bed. I also distinctly remember it having a Bob Jane T-marts sticker on the back window, along side one that said "Sucks to be you." I'm just trying to find out what happened to the damned thing. It's always made me wonder, and it just hit me this morning that I should go to the forums, and see if anyone happened to buy the vehicle, or know someone who did, or where it went. Anything could have happened to it. It may have been written off and sent into a tree for all I know. The car introduced me to high horsepower fun, so I just want to take a trip down memory lane.   24. Hi all, owner of a September 2016 FGX xr6 turbo. At the start of the year I was doing stage 3 upgrades to my car including everything that comes with doing the oil pump. The only thing that wasn’t really done was the turbo itself being upgraded. I’m only running at 340rwkw just for some fun and without putting too much pressure on my gear box. This was done in February 2020 and it’s now June and for a few day’s my turbo has been making such a horrible noise. On starting my car it sounds high pitched and after the first blow off valve release it’s no longer high pitched but “dry” sounding. When the car is off the turbo is still spinning and sounds like it’s grinding away for roughly 30 seconds before stopping. I asked a mechanic and they said it’s being OVER supplied with oil because when I put the new braided oil line in, I didn’t remove a filter in the block, I wasn’t even aware I had to and would an over supply make it sound dry? I’m very confused as to what to do next. I could Always buy a new turbo but I don’t want to run the risk of this happening again and wasting 4/5k. Thanks heaps for any help.
  25. So thought it was time to write up my new addiction! The 3 of April 2016 I brought a 04 xr6 t ute 4sp auto as a cheap daily work ute, Car was completely stock and in great condition and paid $6900 for it. By the 4th I was already looking into mods and decided to give it a little upgrade. First mods and service was booked in to a local tuner for the 8th. Work done, Fuel filter, k&n air filter, 460 pump, spark plugs, 42lb injectors, Fg front brakes, Dba slotted 322 rotors, bendix pads, full auto service, diff flush, 2.5inch duel zorst and HP tune, 6k in the bin Got 330hp 500ft pound of torque @ 12psi On the 15th I had Atomic valve springs fitted and a new tune, $1500 and got 324hp 690ft pound of torgue. Not happy with this result and boring drive I started on here searching for how to get this ute to life. On the 28 of April I put the car back in to the tuner to see if anything was wrong as I had a miss, I had filthy fuel rails which stuffed everything. Had a new set of rails fitted a new set of injectors again only 42s I dont know why but.... and another 460 pump. $2500 later it was tuned back to only 327hp and 690ft pound Again banging my head I kept searching on the need to get it going. Although the car was now driving smooth and much more response it was still boring lol. On the 12th of May I had it back at the tuners after splitting a hose and sending it on a tow truck. This round of mods got expensive, Weld turbo housing, trans cooler, 12psi actuator, 4 inch dump, 5 inch cat, 36mm waste gate mod, repair helicoil, flange and mod the zorst, plaz 1000hp cooler. 8k later I had 364hp and 820ft pound of torgue, But maxed the 42s, so told the tuner to put bigger in as I want to do E85 later on, I went to work and told them ill be back to pick it up later! He fitted 62s.... grrr I was seriously pissed off here as I got another $1100 bill for the injectors and another tune, This was when I got the Himalaya graph!!! 375hp 854ft pound Due to the graph and the car now stalling every time I stopped I was not happy at all. After a few guys on here advised me to take it to a new tuner... I booked in to CMS for the 2nd of June, $1500 later and my car on the dyno all day being sorted out, I got 296kwrw and 1080nm with the 62s maxed Car felt strong for about 20 minutes then I hit a new problem. First thought was intake starving the turbo, had that fix by a machenic in newy with new turbo oil line, drive belt, fan belt, idler pully, upper drive belt pulley $600 later That problem hasnt gone so did my coils, still been giving me headaches. Now with the poo's Im going all out The big coin starts here.. Full fg drive line upgrade with tr6060 npc twin plate clutch Billet tail shaft Atomic 698 short with all the whips and chains lol 5 link rear with koni fronts 6 pots in the front with fg f6 rears Nizpro plenum Nizpro battery relo and intake box. Hoping to have it all done within the next few months and pushing the turbo to its limits as I let the block settle in to its new life. Then turbo upgrade when I choose to lol. Theres probably plenty more to write but cant be funked lol. Any input is welcome and thanks heaps to all that have been helping me to date, Mattyp your a champion and have been fantastic with helping me. Jets also been great with his backward riddles of information to guide me
