  1. I've got the dreaded spoiler bolt hole rust and have the chance at a clean Fairmont lid and need to know if its a direct fit to the XR6 sedans? I'm not sure if the taillight sizes are different and cause it to not match up or something along those lines. I've already got ghia leather interior with chrome door handles so the chrome boot garnish will feel at home 😆 Cheers legends
  2. Hey guys. I know this is an absolute long shot. but, many a moon ago, (2010-2012, somewhere around that time) my father sold his beloved XR6 Turbo BA ute. And I'm trying to find out what happened to it. Rumour has it, it ended up in Sydney, but I'm not totally sure. It was sold in Qld. Unfortunately, all I have of that ute are some EXTREMELY low quality photos, I'm talking potato spec photos. The 4 photos I have left: Heres a quick block of info on the car. It was a fully built BA. Fully done suspension, 900kw at the wheels, 1600nm. It was an auto, but it absolutely raped gearboxes, I'm talking 5000-10000 km if you were lucky. So whoever bought it would have had all the fun in the world changing boxes. It had an alloy flatbed, and it had this blue carpet stuff attached to the flat bed. I also distinctly remember it having a Bob Jane T-marts sticker on the back window, along side one that said "Sucks to be you." I'm just trying to find out what happened to the damned thing. It's always made me wonder, and it just hit me this morning that I should go to the forums, and see if anyone happened to buy the vehicle, or know someone who did, or where it went. Anything could have happened to it. It may have been written off and sent into a tree for all I know. The car introduced me to high horsepower fun, so I just want to take a trip down memory lane. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
  3. Hi guys, I'm a newbie to Performance Upgrades, so I thought I'd get some ideas from some of you experienced performance junkies. I have recently bought a BA XR6 that has already had Stage 3 cams fitted, oversized injectors, extractors, an X-Force exhaust and lowered about an inch and a half. It was performance tuned by a reputable company and dyno'd at just under 300hp. So it's no slouch. It needs some repairs done, rear struts/shocks, diff, one of the front bearings sounds like it's on its way out and some fibreglass needs some loving on front and rear bumpers. And an idling problem (surging revs and stalling on occasions) which I will hopefully have sorted over the next week. What I want to know is, aside from the obvious turbo upgrade, what else can I do to it to give it that extra VROOOM I love?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 👍
  4. hey guys theres been alot of talk on the bf xr6t im hearing lots of different things about it, people saying they have the same internals/engine as the bf typhoon, if true is it from 2006 upwards or 2007? and is there any difference mechanicals wise between the bf mk2 or mk1? thanks
  5. Has anyone fitted a PWR trans cooler kit PWO6115 to a BA XR6T - will the mounting brackets in the kit mount up fine behind the factory intercooler?

    Just Curious

I’ve found a welded diff from a BF XR6 6 speed auto, and I’m wondering if it will go into my Manual BA?
  7. Hey guys looking for some advice. I converted my BA to a 6 speed manual and am about to wire up a reverse lockout solenoid Control box that actives under 8 kmh. The control box requires input from the vehicle speed sensor VSS. Some cars have this on the gearbox. But with the falcon the speed reads off the wheel bearings and into the abs? Can I tap into the two wire speed sensor from the back of the wheel for my VSS? Will abs affect any of this? Cheers http://www.grcperformance.com/Instructions/Reverse Lockout.pdf Attached is the instructions. Last page has the wiring diagram
  8. Hi Gang, Long time lurker, first time poster. Been re-searching higher stall converters for the BTR in my BA mk2 in the hunt for better 1/4 mile times. I've had a poke around but can't seem to find a direct answer. If I install say, a 2800 converter, will the car go into limp mode? Will it need to the ECU re-flashed? Anything else to look out for? Also, it's soon to be running 300rwkw, with the usual upgrades. With a 275 drag radial, will that get it into the 11's (with practice) do we think? Thanks for your help!
  9. Have been having issues with my Ba xr6t mkii manual , for a while a whirring sound would come and go slightly between 60-80 km/h (I put it down to just about time for a centre bearing change over. then after about 3-4 weeks of driving to and from work I gave it a little throttle from a standing start and it made a very bad vibration through the car , pedals and gearstick. after that , any hard acceleration of more than 1/2 throttle would make bad vibration and the whirring sound had now become a Humming sound heard and felt above 50km/h. and an all around feeling of "something isn't right" was lingering ....a couple of days after this (about 60-80 kms later) I was driving with barely any acceleration at 60km/h and the whole car broke into vibration with a metal on metal sound present, the car also seemed to now have some resistance under acceleration as if the handbrake had been left on.... Babied the car home about 30km away and every time I would hit an incline and had to give anything more than a touch of acceleration the car would vibrate/drone and hum violently . on the very last hill to my house I honestly didn't think I was going to make it. the last 2kms. when I got home I took it apart and on this video is what I found...... If anyone can point me in the direction of what it might be? and the costs involved / possibly even someone in the northern perth area that can fix it, with quality workmanship? Until I get it fixed im leaving it parked up . im hoping it'll get me to the repair shop without the cost of a tow, though I've been told too much vibration being sent back through the gearbox etc could be very bad? car runs 500+rwhp on 15psi
  10. Hi I am thinking of getting a ba icc with back. I think it's a colour screen, before I buy it what is back and can I hook up reverse camera to it and is it just plug and play?
  11. Removed the spoiler off the boot and obviously there’s holes, which models can you use to replace the boot with so that it’s same fit and look but with no spoiler
  12. BA ICC Unit issue, Stereo dropped out and aircon whilst driving and won't turn on or work when manually try to turn on ICC,blank screen and still no fan or aircon.... Things to check or anything suggested to rectify the problem?
  13. Hey guys so I have ba xr6 nonturbo. Its throwing codes for throttle actuator,Tps and pedal sensor. Drives fine at speed but idles high with a miss and when I put in reverse or drive, idle drops real low and lumpy and nearly dies. I have cleaned throttle body and replaced TPS as garage and ford told me that's most common part to go but problem still there, anyone else had anything similar? Guess my next step is to change actuator and pedal sensor. Is there any way I can check actuator and pedal sensor/sensors. Is there any other cause that could be throwing throttle codes? Local garage cant help.
  14. Hi all, Am a full newbie to the fordxr6turbo forum, or any forum for that matter, and just thought I'd share my experience in converting my BA mk2 XT wagon into a turbo/manual/lLSD equipped weapon. Got a bit fed up with how much choice Expensive Daewoo fan's have when it comes to a quick wagon and was always pretty cut about ford never making a BA or BF (or even FG) wagon that had some poke. Massive missed opportunity. Also, every new car on the market is a sh*thouse-suv-dog walking- sunday driving-gumby driven poo box, so making a fast taxi was a no-brainer in my books. I've actually had the wagon for 8 years and used it for everything. Ranging from carrying a few hundred kilo's too many concrete bags in the boot through to weekend camping trips in the hills near where I live. It's actually pretty amazing where you can get one if you really try. Especially when it's your bed for the night and is the only car in the group that has a 'banging stezza'. Anyway, I got a bit of inspo from looking at other members conversions on this forum where they'd converted their taxi's into turbo WMD's and thought I'd give it a red hot crack. So I got excited one night after a couple of bevvy's and found myself as being the proud owner of a beaten up xr6 turbo ute. 5 months later and I can finally say the conversion is complete and the wagon is running sweet as a nut. Completely stock in every way apart from a cold air snorkel from an FPV typhoon and a Turbosmart BOV and Turbosmart Wastegate Actuator. Have no idea what power it's putting out but it's enough for me at the mo. Am looking to get a tune done at some stage in the future but the bank account won't allow that for a while so I'll just keep it as-is for now. I got some gangstaaaaaaaaa wheels for it too and reckon they set the thing off perfectly. Will post again soon to cover off on the issues I ran into along the way. The reason I joined is to share what I came across during the conversion process cause I ran into heaps of conflicting advice from this forum and others and just thought I'd help clear things up where I could.
  15. What’s needed to change rocker cover on an na ba to the fg one? I’m told I’ll have to change either coils to fg ones or use something to keep the coils down from poping off while under load with the stock ba/bf coils and I’ll need to change the manifold? Thanks in advance
  16. I'm looking at getting a xr6 turbo, preferably 06 and upwards but still the ba/bf body, I want to get 500-550hp to the wheels but I dont know about a couple things and hope some of you know and can help me, 1. I've heard the bf 06 and onwards blocks are the typhoon blocks and are the stronger ones and are better to use? 2. Is the bf or fg engine better? Is the head different on the fg or what are the differences between the bf and fg block and head. 3. Can you put a t5 manual trans on a fg turbo engine? Then put that in the ba/bf body. 4. Any recommendations for the following parts? - forged pistons and rods to handle 800hp+ Valves and valve springs -what bottom end stuff like bearings ect would suit this kind of power? - could a fg head go onto the bf "typhoon block? Much appreciate any advice or comments that can answer these questions!!
  17. Hi I’m just wondering what turbos come out on the Barra motors like what there names are and what models they come out on and how many there are I’ve been told 4 but only know the ba I have a ba with 3540 now wanting to know the difference I have looked them up but I get a lot of different story’s
  18. I’ve seen quite a few threads on swapping a FG into a BA bolting up to the Btr auto. But what would be involved putting a ZF along with the FG in a BA? would it require an FG ecu, pcm, driveline? Cheers
  19. Hi everyone well I already own a wrecked ba xr6t with all parts perfect except right hand door and dashboard and have a ba xr6 that needs new engine trans rear sub frame now that parts sorted. After I swap my engine rear sub frame and transmission into the standard xr6 can I just swap computers and turn it on or do I have to change all my looms as well ?? Please help
  20. Hi, Does anyone know if side skirts from a 2006 BF Falcon XT sedan fit on a 2004 XR6 BA MKII sedan? Thanks in advance, Nick
  21. Ok I’ve read page after page after page.... heres where it starts.... bought a ba xr6 turbo Automatic and it came with a x3 flash device that has custom tunes, base 4-5 psi - 8psi - 10psi. Car drives great no weird noises or anything of the like. The problem I’m having is to do with a overboost/limiter issue. This is the 10psi tune. Car accelerates great but once it hits the 10psi mark it either goes to 12psi or it hits 9-10 and it’s like a rev limit and the exhaust makes an almost ‘flame’ sound? And the boost gauge flickers up and down 1psi. Mostly this happens with WOT. Especially does it when just in Drive and going WOT, not so bad in sport mode because I can shift before it gets to the almost misfire stage and goes weird. Most times regardless of in drive or sports mode it’s around 4000rpm. Sometimes though in drive and sports mode it will rev out and hit boost perfectly and have no issues but it’s very short lived and then it’s back to ‘missing’ 2 minutes later. Now when I put it back to stock it hits 5 psi steady as can be at WOT but as it hits 5000-5500rpm it makes the same weird flame limiter noise. Heres what I’ve tried. •New plugs gapped to 7.5 •New boost control solenoid •Clean throttle body •Tighten all hoses that I can access •Run turbo hose straight to wastegate (hits 5-6psi and goes great •Disconnect battery for 10 minutes and then drive WOT New coil packs will be here by the end of the week as there about the last thing I can think of that I can do myself, there still originals and car has done 170,000ks. So if anyone can help me that would be AWESOME! I’ve read so many threads that seem to be my problem and they either never come back with the solution or I’ve tried what they’ve done to no avail.
  22. Hi I know the whole 'mail order tune' idea is frowned upon mostly but I'm not looking to gain heaps nor continue to pursue power, but if anyone has a 10psi tune for a stock ba xr6T that that goes on a SCT X3 they could share I'd be really greatful! Thanks guys/girls
  23. currently building a sleeper ,it started out as a 3v v8 boat anchor with 47,000 klm only on the clock .was going to fit a under bonnet blower ,but the engine was on its way out . its a long story so I just will say I bought a lemon of a reputable ford dealer ,and after owning it for a couple of days went to the dealer and complained .there reply was (f*ck of and do not come back )have bought cars of them before with no problems . so anyhow the turbo wreck came up start of February this year ,I bought it for $2400 .it had lots of money spend on it (dockets for about $8000 of work done to it by elite . I have fitted a truetrack diff with danna 3.7 gears .$3150 .new paint and bonnet $5000 .new suspension ,rear leafs and front springs new shocks ,camber caster kits and new bushes (nolathane) new ball joints .rebuild turbo and performance wheel .rebuild btr auto with au parts and pump .new hot side piping (which was a pain to fit, rapid system )fitted the xr 6 sound system including tweeters and front and back speakers (had to run al the wiring from the xr 6 .fitted the turbo fuel pump 500 hp walboro .all the fuel lines .fixed the heater shaft so the heater works again .fitted all new air con seals ,condenser and the charcoal canister ,and hoses .fitted the sedans black carpet (looks way better ) fitted the gauges including the cluster . swapped over all the wiring from the turbo car including the engine bay and all the dash wiring .was unable to use the car dash as it was damaged ) had to change all the power steering hoses .fitted new radiator ,water pump ,harmonic balancer, sump gasket (to look at the bottom end sludge or failed parts ) I also have taken the aluminium tray apart again to get it powdercoated again (the clear coat started to crack ) but I most likely will take another 2 month before I can start it (still in bits but slowly getting there ) can not wait to drive it around after all the dramas I had so far building this .thanks to jake (work mate )who helped me with the heavy bits ,but all the rest I done my self .just hope that it will all work in the end (I am only a dumb ass glazier ) the car used to run a 12.300 at willowbank ,hope with some of the extra mods it will even be quicker .ps there are so much more pictures but these will do
  24. Hi all, I have a BA 2002 xr6 ute with 340,000 on the clock. My old mans has 450,000 on the clock and it’s been across the desert 3 times so I’m not too worried on how mine will last but I’ve found an xr6 turbo engine (ba) that comes with exhaust, intercooling piping, intercooler and all the bit and pieces for a reasonable price. The engine has only done 170,000 and the turbo has little to no wear. It also comes with the ECU. My ute has a 5 speed manual which I hear is very weak so I am also looking at the 6speed. I an am aware there are lots of threads about this and I have read them all but most of them are old and price are very different now. They also had donor cars which I do not but I am willing to spend time and money on this car. I do not want to sell mine and buy a turbo because mine isn’t worth anything with the km it has done and a decent one is still up around 6.5 and if I can do this slowly I’ll be happy. so I am just wondering if all I will need is the wiring looms and fuse box. I know I will also have the get the computers cleared and reprogrammed but is that all? Forgot to mention that the motor was an auto. If I could get in contact with someone who has done this before that would be good too.
  25. Hey, I have a BA mk2 turbo and I noticed about a month ago the turbo was fluttering when I drove it hard. The car HAD just the factory diverter valve installed. So I assumed this was on the way out (being a 2004 car) and I bought an atmospheric BOV for the sound and to hopefully stop the fluttering. The BOV is nothing special, just a $40 one off eBay that said it was compatible with my car. I put it on yesterday and no matter how I adjust the spring, under high boost, the turbo will flutter. This is the part that confuses me when I sit at 1700 revs I can hear the BOV is open no matter how stiff or soft the spring is but then I also assume it isn't opening enough when I come off the throttle, pushing air back into the turbo and making it flutter. The flutter only occurs when I floor it. Otherwise the bov will vent correctly. So I was wondering; is the issue something like the bov not being wide enough? did I jump the gun on assuming the turbo flutter was an issue? (I've heard some cars just do it) should I try a different spring and lubricate the piston of the bov? Or just bite the bullet and get a decent one? Any help would be appreciated, cheers
