Here's the obligatory thread to follow my dream daily's quest for 310rwkw! I want a place to add photo's, ask questions specific to my rig (without spamming other threads) and update anyone that may be interested! I'll treat this as like a sort of "build breakdown" even though its no where near as tricked out as a lot of the other builds on the forum I bought the car just over a year and half ago and basically immediately started saving and buying parts for the rig. Here's a before and after shot of the car from the first time I took it out for some shots till the latest. I got the car on a loan for 95 per week with an interest rate of 6.75%. For my first ever loan I was pretty impressed with the low rates. The car was on the market for 17k with 102,000km on the clock, but after all the warranties and car dealership sh*t it totalled to 24k (interest included over 5 years). First ever photo I took of the daily Latest photo taken of the daily! 🤤 (Yes its blurred, but its the only one that is landscape xD) The car is booked in with Monsta Torque in Perth on the 18th of January for Rob's stage 1 package on top of the work that's already been done. The stage 1 package will include 1000cc injectors and will be tuned using PCMTEC. My power goal for this setup is 310rwkw which I'm hoping is achievable on the stock turbo. I just wanted to learn more knowledge on my car and what I should do to reach my current goal of around 330-370rwkws, I wouldn't push any more further as I know I would be likely to do a zf rebuild so far my car has only pushed for 235kw at the wheels when iI tuned it as the previous owner returned it down as close to stock form again, they've put a Chinese turbo on as opposed to the original Garret which didn't climb enough as id expected it do FG Mk2 Full 3'5 xforce system High flow cat 1000cc injectors KN Air Filter (still stock piping) Valve springs and headstuds (thanks to previous owner) Autotechnika intercooler I am expecting to upgrade the cooler and do a full piping kit also to a Plazmaman 1000hp cooler & since I don't have the stock turbo figured I'd be better off going straight for a GTX3582R Gen2 Any suggestions or recommendations on other supporting mods?
This may need to go to the modification & workshop section. sorry. Hi everyone. First post but I've been a long time lurker. I'm a proud owner of a MKI BF XR6 turbo and am planning a few budget mods. I welcome a few hard opinions and ideas from you guys to see if I'm close to the right track and I've got a few questions too. The car is going to be kept fairly sleeper by the looks of it. First a bit about the car. 144,000km, Second owner and was owned by a middle aged couple with kids. The guys wife mainly drove the car and I'd be surprised if it's ever popped a skid. the car has a build date of 29 may (05/06) so there is a chance it has the upgraded bottom end after the 06/06 turbos. It doesn't really make a difference for my situation anyway. I've got new genuine spark plugs and coils and an earls oil line for the turbo. transmission and diff are serviced. Anyway I've priced the total build to about $2700-$3000 and this should hopefully net me around 280-310ish RWKW which is my goal... we'll see. Parts include Exhaust: $180 4inch 100cell Venom catalytic converter - welded in place of the stock. Option to straight pipe middle muffler either from a shop or $250 venom bolt on from ebay. The catalytic converter should be enough on it's own but that cat with straight pipes would be pretty nice. Standard dump. Induction: K&N panel filter, XR8 snorkel $80 from eBay and a second pipe from the bottom of the airbox that I'll make myself. eBay intercooler $150-$180... I know I know they are pretty rubbish and I'll get heat soak pretty quickly but worst case I'll upgrade it later on and I've lost $150 and a touch up tune, not the end of the world. I'm tempted to keep the stock one but it's seen better days. Stage 1 tune offered by a few tuners $2300 and includes 1000cc injectors, spark plug gap, cooler thermostat, custom tune and a few other things) So that's about $2700-$3000. And then maybe: Fuel pump - Walbro 255 for $160 valve springs $850 - although they are upgraded from the BA motor the car has done a few km's I'm thinking of doing this a bit later on. Plazmaman stage 2 intercooler for $1400 with under battery intake All in all these modifications are there to supplement the stage one, I can't justify spending a quoted "$7500" for a stage 2 on a car that is worth around the same amount. I'd rather put that money towards a stock F6. If I can pull something decent from this I've successfully built a quick(er) 6 speed ZF falcon for around 10 grand. I'm in WA for now. Couple of questions So honest opinions... is it total crap? call me what you like but from all the research I've done this should get me close to 280-310rwkw. I know a lot of people will say do it right or not at all but I'd rather pick up the tools, take a challenge and do it on the cheap with a few small compromises. Would I get away with not doing the valve springs at least for now? I've been told a 5 inch cat would be better but I figure without doing more exhaust work there's no point, this should give a decent improvement over stock. I can get a 5 inch bolt on for $650 Are there better inexpensive intercooler options? Any ideas or experience. Thanks for reading.
Hey all, So I know there's a few of these threads going around and I've searched and searched and I think I'm just making myself more confused. Basically I want to build a daily that I can take to the drags and with some practise run atleast a 13(a high 12 would be nice). I would aim for an 11 but I know the driveline mods needed are probs out of my budget(for now!). Budget is 3k-7k MAX depending on what I get...Basically aiming as cheap as can reliably. The Car: BF mk 2(08/06) XR6 Turbo Mods so far are minimal being: Bilstein coilovers all round.Photo is of when I got it though will update when I get home! Just put the earls turbo oil filter on and ditched the old one as recommended here! Glad I did after seeing it. So the questions I have are: Intercooler kits - I know what's out there PW,Plasmaman ect but what do I need to avoid losing power at my goals? I can't find an answer apart from don't get a monza or f6 cooler. I want to do it properly so if I need a stage 3 I will buy it but if stage 1 will be safe then great! Injectors - What brand and size? Some say get the biggest so you can power up later but how big? I was thinking of going Siemens here. Exhaust - Pretty easy one from reading I'm thinking the cat, centre muffler removal and bigger dump will be enough.(Size?) Fuel Pump - ???? Here as I've been given mixed ideas some say you NEED a surge tank, other just upgrade the pump. Tune and xcal3 - No brainer on xcal 3 and will probably head to Monsta Torque for tune(Heard nothing but good things). Sorry for the novel, but I think every persons needs are different so let me know what you think please! Want to start collecting parts asap so I can get it tuned. Just finished servicing everything I could think of to make it ready.
