  2. Hello, I need some help if anyone cares to give any info on my turbo problem. I have a BA XR6 turbo ute mk2 that has an intercooler, intake pipework, 3.5ëxhaust. I fitted new 60lb deka injectors and loaded my bpracing X3 60lb 11psi tune today (I know using these tunes can be like playing russian roulette and had planned on not driving it until I get it dyno tuned but I just went for a zip down the road).The car idled fine and drove well unti I hit WOT the turbo made an uneven whooshing noise and then made what sounded like a mega blow off valve noise(not metallic), after the noise I could hear the turbo spooling up but it also made a sound like the boost was escaping and the cars performance is that of an N/A vehicle. I will look tomorrow at the turbo and piping but it's too dark now was just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem.
  3. Hi guys, this is the first time I've started a topic on this forum so forgive me if my forum etiquette is out of whack! I am in need of some information and recommendations with regards to a flapper mod on my BA MK2 XR6 Turbo. I've been quoted $1,000 to have the flapper mod done by Xtreme Ford Tuning in Perth. I've had all my work done by these guys and although quite pricey, I'm very happy with the results. (currently running a little under 320rwkw with 4" dump and 3.5" single, ID1000 injectors, fuel pump, 12lb actuator, bolt on cooler, growler, valve springs, and a few other little bits and pieces). I need the flapper done because with the current tune from last week (tune needed after putting on new exhaust) the car is over boosting. I have read around and some people have suggested that to save money, it is easier to put on an external gate instead on the flapper mod. This I'm not too keen on as I'm planning on buying an under battery cooler kit later on down the track and would require unnecessary mucking around. Doing the mod myself is also out of the question as my mechanical ability does not extend this far. Basically what im wanting to know is, is this worth $1000? Will I need a retune after doing the mod? Is an external gate a viable option? Should I be expecting any power gain from this? Any help or opinions gratefully taken on board. Matt

  5. Hey guys. I have a ba xr6 turbo. I have recently installed a new LSD diff woith 411 diff gears. At the same time I installed nolathane diff bushes. They have last around 3 months. I am wondering if I should change back to genuine diff bushes but even then they dont last long. Does anyone know any better diff bushes and what do people run. Cheers
  6. OK, I know similar questions have been asked but couldnt find any that were exactly the same as mine. I have a 2003 xr6t and recently the left side rear end has been making a clunking\knocking noise when going over bumps and rough roads. It doesnt seem to happen when both wheels hit a bump but rather when it is the left rear wheel by itself. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar thing happen and if there were any solutions to this problem. I have had the 3 diff mounts replaced less then 5000k ago. I have had a look at the bushes and the only ones I can see that look suspect is the top shock bushes. Should these fit flush in the center with the bolt that holds them in becuase there seems to be a 3mm gap between the bolt and the bush. Anything would be helpful. Also one more sympton is that sometimes when taking off from a standstill the rear end will shutter as if somthing is holding it back. Thanks
  7. Hey guys.. Just a quickie.....Is it worth the money Dynamating the front doors in a BF Ute. I do have a set of MB Quartz splits with a 10" sub in the back tray. I've heard people say it makes a huge difference. What is this difference they're refering to.
  8. Trying not to swear... Have arrogantly ignored my ZF clunking etc for the last 2 weeks (work work work), last couple of days has been really bad, to the point that the engine revs are unstable at low revs or idle when in gear, sometimes grinding noises in 2nd 3rd 4th and so on (the typical milkshake symptoms). Lifted the bonnet at the servo today, and I have icebreak in my coolant overflow. Have reviewed a few forum posts with no 'where to nows', so to speak (including http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/75623-zf-auto-milkshake/) So where to now? Is my gearbox rooted, and I will def need a rebuild? OR At this point, is it possible I could try installing one of those external trans oil cooling kits, flush the coolant and trans oil, give the ZF a service (filter, clean etc) and hope for the best? Is it not even worth that work, should I just trailer it to somewhere and have the ZF rebuilt? I come here as im in central QLD with no one within 400km that can look at it.... I bought the car around 4 weeks ago at Manheim Auctions Moorebank, it's an ex cop car and I noticed the engine noise around 3 weeks ago, it only comes on after driving the car hard and/or the engine is hot.     Turbo Leaking Oil

    Hey Guys, First post, pity it has to be about a problem with my XR6T. Just purchased a 2010 XR6T with 47000km on the clock. Bought off a guy in Melb who had purchased the car brand new. Car was picked for split diff bushes at RWC which I was assured (by both the seller and Ford) was a common problem. Car was still under warranty and as such was returned to Knox Ford in Rowville to have the parts replaced and was thoroughly checked. Seller provided invoice from Knox which made comment about an oil leak around turbo - "Check for Oil Leak around turbo - Oil leaking out of turbo intake tube, oil in tube is from normal blow-by coming through inlet tube from PVC pipe. No fault with vehicle, removed and cleaned intake tubes and refitted making sure hose clamps tightened correctly". As part of the check the timing case oil leak was also detected and shorter bolts installed and idler pulley assembly was replaced. This check was completed on 02/11/12 and I collected the vehicle on 09/11. Today I took the car to my local Ford dealer for 45k service and when I went to collect the car I have been told by the service advisor that the Turbo needs to be replaced???? On top of this even though the car is still under warranty they have advised that it may not be covered under warranty because the "turbo has been tampered with" and it doesn't have the standard air filter installed. This will result in me being out of pocket $8k for a new turbo :o There was also a comment made in relation to blow back into the engine and hoping that this hadn't caused any damage??? I have spoken with the seller (who didn't have to talk to me given it was a private sale) who has advised that he has not modified the turbo in anyway and I have opened the air box and the air filter is just a K&N aftermarket part which (in my far from experienced opinion) is a ridiculous reason to knock back a warranty claim? I have no doubt that the guy I bought the car from gave the car a squirt (who buys an XR6T and doesn't) but I highly doubt he sat there in a $50k car with his foot on the brake bouncing off the rev limiter doing a 200m skid! How easy is it to blow up a Turbo in one of these? From reading other forums I can see a number of people have had the oil leak issue from the pipe at the top of the turbo. After driving around in my trusty (and yes I know a little boring) BA MkII XR6 this is turning into a nightmare after only 5 days!!! I have attached photos of the Turbo this afternoon after collecting from Ford and you can see the oil as well as a comparison between the filter in my BA (white - which has a full service history with Ford) and the one in the Turbo. Appreciate any experiences and thoughts on the Dealers Comments! Cheers, Pip

  14. HEY GUYS! love this site. Well im new and im new to ford, just bought a brand new xr6 2012 mkII 6 speed manual sedan for $33 500, 21kms on it straight out of factory.. Its fast, but im noticing it stutters, like it wants to go harder but the mods it got are limiting it, now I dont know anything about fords, im skyline fan. lol But what should I get for it? I heard K&N fliters and cold air intake, new exhast 2.5 cat back, a tune and I was told a underpully doesnt do anything :S and that's all I know. Any ideas? im all ears and I want to learn this car I got the cash easy blow 20k on it lol fcking love it so fcking much. Kinitic Blue paint. By the way cuz its new, if I mod it, will the warrianty get voided? Thanks guys!!! P plater by the way...
  15. Hey guys. This has really been frustrating me. So I took both the rare door trims out of my xr6T FG which was easy and perfectly fine. but when I try to put it back on the it just does'nt clip on properly and sticks slightly open from the top. (Photos attached). It just feels like some things touching somewhere. But I did spent hours but could'nt figure it out. However I have taken the front trims out and did'nt have any problems putting those back on. Do I need to put my window down while doing it or something. Let me know if you guys have faced similar issues or if there is any logic or trick behind this. Help much appreciated guys.Thanks

About me: Im Chris Findlay, im 18 years old from Noosa Queensland, yep that makes me a P-Plater... I have an unfinished project car currently sitting in my shed awaiting its finish.. Its a 1982 Ke70 Corolla.. It has been built with the purpose and intentions to be used for drifting, I have spent roughly 25k on it to date, and it is pretty highly modified, with everything from brand new leather bucket seats, momo steering wheel, 4age 16v Quad throttle engine conversion with 250hp at the flywheel, coilovers strut braces, sway bars, sunroof, ae86 break upgrade all the way to 4 link trailing arms etc.. Hey guys, im new here so first thing I thought I would to was post a thread on my new car.. As you have read above its a 2011 XR6T, im yet to see it in the flesh as I work away and I purchased it from Victoria, had it shipped over here to Queensland, where it has been parked in my garage until I get home tomorrow night (Sunday 14/10/11), I bought the car from Hillis Motor Group, they were awesome to deal with, and the offer 100% perfect customer service. This ute has been purchased for the intention of use as a daily driver, but due to me only being home 9 days, 12 times a year (I work a 28 on 9 off rotation) Im extremely keen to take it to Queensland Raceway when I can for the occasional drift night.. I have the car booked in for this coming Thursday at Tint-A-Car to receive the darkest legal Octane tint, which should look awesome. First thing Monday morning I am debadging the boot and side skirts of the car, although it is still registered as a turbo vehicle, and insured with Just Car insurance as turbo.. I have a cunning plan which has worked for mates with high powered turbo vehicles on their Provisional licence to allow me to drive this vehicle without any hassle from the Police and its simple.. My local mechanic gave me a full receipt for labor and necessary parts for a "TURBO REMOVAL" back dated to the afternoon the vehicle was delivered to my house.. I will simply place this receipt in the glove box for use when needed.. Also I am going to do my best to hide the turbo (Although it is lower-mounted which is pretty hidden already) with metal heat shielding.. So far I have purchased a few bits and bobs to give this car some hidden potential.. Below is a list of what I have purchased so to date..   17. hi guys bit of a newbie, I bought myself a black xr6 lowndes ed ute and am after some wheels second hand. Looking at 20" or 19" and have found two sets close by almost new. just after some opinions. Also the black ones rear are 275/40/20 will these fit ute at stock height? please ignore my dodgey photoshop too. also trying to keep everything legal (nsw).   18. Hey guys, new to the forums and looking to buy my first Ford. Currently in a VT Berlina. After a BFii XR6, n/a as I'm on Ps. Basically I wanna know the difference in performance between the four speed and the six speed. I can find plenty of 4 speeds in my price range, but very limited amounts of 6 speeds and most in basic colours with no options. I'm not towing or anything, very little highway driving, and fuel economy can't be worse than my current car either way so that's fine. Is the four speed at a huge disadvantage to the 6 speed? Any advice would be great!
  19. Hi guys Something weird I noticed today: my ego-coloured (I.e. "black") XR6 has two small-ish stripes on the driver's door. These stripes look "greyish". I tried rubbing it off but it won't come off. The paint has, apparently, changed colour on these two particular spots. It's not really noticable unless looked at closely. I have never heard of a car's paint changing colour. What's happening? My car is left out in the blistering sun for most of the day. Could that be what's causing the discolouration? However, It's odd that both stripes are on the driver's side... Has my neighbour put turps or something like that on my car to cause such a thing? (I live in unit and we share a car port, and my neighbour is suspect.) I would really appreciate some insight into this. I don't want my car to receive any more marks like the two I already have. Thank you.
  20. I just posted this in the Technical Forum but perhaps it's better suited here, seeing as I don't own a turbo. I recently bought a 2010 5-speed Auto XR6. It always makes a "clunk" sound when changing from Park to Reverse or Reverse to Drive or Drive to Park and so on. The dealer told me this is normal. After doing some reading it seems common for the 5-speed Auto. However, is it damaging my transmission? Also, ocassionally when I drive I notice that when it changes gear it makes a clunking sound, and it sounds as though it's coming from under the bonnet. This only started to happen over the last 2 weeks. It has happend over a dozen times now. And it happens in both Performance Mode and Automatic Mode. Is this normal? And, more importantly,is this damaging my transmission? I'm getting worried that my gearbox (if it is actually the transmission) is going to die on me much sooner than it ought to. Is this likely? I'd appreciate any feedback on my questions. I spent $24,000 on this car; I expect everything to be in tip-top order. Thanks guys!
  21. Hi guys I'm new to these boards. First, I have to say that I don't own an XR6 Turbo; I own a 2010 FG 5-speed Automatic XR6. I'm having a problem and I hope you guys can help. Recently I've noticed my car making a "clunking" sound occasionally when it changes gears. This didn't happen the first 4 weeks I was driving it (I've owned the car for 2 months now). For instance, tonight I was driving on a highway in 4th gear (in Performance Mode) and there was a traffic light up ahead flashing amber. I had to slow down (obviously) and thus drop the gears. When I dropped from 3rd to 2nd the car made a nasty "clunk" which I heard coming from under the bonnet. This has happened about a dozen times over the past 2 weeks. It usually happens when I'm changing up a gear, though. This clunk happens in both Automatic Mode and Perfomance Mode. Is this clunk normal? What is the likely cause of it? And, most importantly, is this clunk damaging my transmission in any way? Further, I should also point out that my car always "clunks" when changing from Park to Reverse or Reverse to Drive or Park to Neutral and so on. My dealer says this is normal, and from reading other guys' posts it seems that this is a common issue with the 5-speed auto. But is it damaging my transmisson? That's what I care about mostly.
