  1. Thought I'd put up a build thread so hopefully I stay on the right track, keep motivated and do some learning/helping. Car is an 03 BA XR6t 5 spd manual and leather interior Yes I know not the best platform to start with motor and gearbox wise, but bought cheap enough with the intention to at least change to 6 spd. Purchased about a month ago and already has the following mods: Plazmaman Stage 1 Intercooler Process West Crossover Pipe Kit Battery relocation to right hand side with copper-core welding cables used. Plazmaman Sheet metal airbox with 4” K&N filter VENOM twin 2.5" Exhaust VENOM 3.5" Cat Fabricated Tig welded oil catch can with K&N filter Turbo bored out with larger flapper valve Turbosmart wastegate actuator with 10psi spring In tune Motorsport turbo oil filter installed Walbro GSS342 255lph SN95 Mustang Quickshifter with adjustable stops, stainless lever and carbon knob Custom carbon gear lever surround 19” OX Racing OX111 wheels Lowered on King Springs and Munroe dampers Nolathane Polyurethane bush kit Including diff bushes DJR Bobtail spoiler HID headlights Projector headlamp conversion Also came with an SCT xcal 3 flash tuner Body is a bit untidy and needed bigger injectors and tune. Pics from when I got it Few things I already found I needed to fix. Had a few oil leaks. First one I found from the oil return into sump. One of the bolts that holds the flange on was stripped so I put a helicoil (thread insert) in. So I left the oil in until I finished drilling and tapping the hole out, used grease on drill and tap to prevent swarf going into sump, but dropped the oil and flushed afterwards just in case. Replaced sump plug with a new one from Repco, which happens to have a 15mm head on it. WTAF??? Who the feck does that. Damaged thread. Sorry don't have after shots. Noticed PS hose leaking too. So gave everything a good degrease Wanted to change the coolant reservoir/overflow and wanted to check what spring was in the wastegate actuator. Didn't look too hard to do, and after little reading on here and another forum saw some people having a hard time with it and taking turbos and manifolds off. Anyway pulled the coolant reservoir out, removed the dump pipe, cross over pipe, oil feed and coolant supply to turbo and hose to actuator. Check out my sweet light setup! Removed the bolts for the actuator bracket, bottom one is slow only using an open end spanner. Pushed actuator back so I could see the R clipholding the clevis onto the flapper valve arm. Got my seal pick in the end of clip and pulled it out. Yes it snapped. Then squeezed the actuator out of the bay, it's tight but got it. Found it had a 10psi spring, not a 12 like I originally thought. Reinstalling just same as above but in reverse. Make sure you push actuator back as far as you can, open wastegate, and put clevis back on arm. I just used a new E clip. This is where you can check the actuator rod preload. Push the bracket forward towards the turbo and that gap should be the preload of 2mm. Bigger gap in pic as I wasn't holding it up. Bottom bolt on bracket could be tricky. I just gripped the head with long nose pliers, got it sitting in the hole, then put pressure behind the head with the pliers and got it started with the open end spanner. All back together Had to replace the vent hose to catch can as it was so hard and brittle. Have a big roll of the blue air/chemical hose so just used that. Will change to black hose and the catch can at some point. Sorry for the story. Will be updating tomorrow, I mean today/tonight. Thanks for looking... if you got this far lol

  4. I have an option of 2 cars im incredibly stuck on... 2008 FPV f6 with 100,000km ($26,000) or 2015 FGX xr6 turbo with 50,000km ($30,000) The FPV f6 will retain a lot of its value and its already modified a bit and making 300rwkw (about $2500 worth of mods), and it has brembo brakes and simply the FPV badge. Where as the FGX is the newer car, under warranty, and its just a fresh new car that not many people have atm. And I really do love the new FGX front design with the lights. Where as the fpv's have been around for a while now and every person has modded them and stuff, so I can be a bit more original and stand out more in the fgx? I have driven both and they both drive really well. Just unsure which one to buy. I do plan on keeping the car for a while. Just wondering of the 10 year old FPV is too old now, and whether its 'smarter' tobuy the new car despite it being much more subtle than the FPV. Eventually I will modify both and want them to stand out as much as possible. So torn apart help!!!!!!!!!
  5. hey guys I have a problem with my 52 mm gauges for some reason my gauges wont stay mounted into the saas pod has anyone else had this issue? and help would be great

  7. Hi all, I have a BA 2002 xr6 ute with 340,000 on the clock. My old mans has 450,000 on the clock and it’s been across the desert 3 times so I’m not too worried on how mine will last but I’ve found an xr6 turbo engine (ba) that comes with exhaust, intercooling piping, intercooler and all the bit and pieces for a reasonable price. The engine has only done 170,000 and the turbo has little to no wear. It also comes with the ECU. My ute has a 5 speed manual which I hear is very weak so I am also looking at the 6speed. I an am aware there are lots of threads about this and I have read them all but most of them are old and price are very different now. They also had donor cars which I do not but I am willing to spend time and money on this car. I do not want to sell mine and buy a turbo because mine isn’t worth anything with the km it has done and a decent one is still up around 6.5 and if I can do this slowly I’ll be happy. so I am just wondering if all I will need is the wiring looms and fuse box. I know I will also have the get the computers cleared and reprogrammed but is that all? Forgot to mention that the motor was an auto. If I could get in contact with someone who has done this before that would be good too.
  8. Hi I’m finally getting around to wiring my 96 el xr6 witch I’ve done a bf Barra conversation with a malwood built t56 with transducer fitted and a Vipec v88 ecu I’m wondering if anyone would have any wiring diagrams or any sort of information on how to go about my input output list that may help get this beast up and running again any help will be much appreciated thanks
  9. Just wondering if anyone knows the torque specs for the tail shaft coupling/flex joint for a 2012 Falcon FG Xr6 Turbo Auto. Been searching on the forums and haven't been able to find any torque specs as of yet. If I can't find any I might just do it up to my own standard of bloody tight. I had a look for commodores and its 75-85 for one model but 115 for another, so I'm really unsure :/ any help is appeciated, cheers! Edit: 75-85nm or 115nm
  10. Just wondering if anyone has a pillar guage set up in there car it looks good but I don't know if I won't the light in my face when driving at night. I now I can just choose red as it seems to be a better night driving colour but still might get annoying after a while.
  11. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what this could have been. Stock standard 2012 FG XR6T MKII, ZF auto, 38,000KM Rolling over a give way into a 100kph zone I floored it and when it shifted into second gear there was a very very loud bang / thud from the gearbox. It continued to drive fine, so slowed down and floored it again but this time it shifted fine into second, and hasn't done it since. I'm wondering if I should service the transmission, its only done 38,000KM but is 5 year old oil in there?

  15. Hi, I'm considering buying a second hand xr6 turbo and was just wondering if any of you could help me with some pointers on what to look out for, for example how many kilometres is too much? on average when do parts start to blow? My budget on only 5k and most cars at this price usually have over 170'000 on the meter which is why I would like some help on what to look out for. Thanks
  16. Hey everyone, Ive got a BF xr6t its had a new motor put in and done just over 3000kms, temps here have just started to push 40 degrees and its starting to over heat. 17. Hello I'm a New Member as of today.... I'm Rockin a Gold 04 Ba Xr6 Turbo Ute in the Far North of New Zealand. How did I get here you ask ? (or not)...Here go's anyway!. Having a owned few early, mid and late 70's falcons as well having driven a range of 80's 90's and later models over the years. I have wanted a Turbo Falcon Ute of age's. So after lining the Ca$h it was time to start looking. I hit Gold...as in a Gold Ba XR6 Turbo Ute in reasonable condition... km's...right price... standard unmodified on the right Island (Not a lot come up for sale in New Zealand). Best of all for me is the fact it has 2300kg towing capability 700kg or so tray capacity... it's great on the long haul's really comfortable with heaps of grunt. After the acquisition I had a full service done and replaced the ignition coils, brake rotors and pads as well as new performance tires. Upgrades for my Ute on the horizon are : Upgraded rear leaf springs, Xforce exhaust, cold air intake and dyno tune. I'm here to learn as much as I can and will appreciate any advice. Best time I ever had was driving a Falcon Ute from Brisbane to Bathurst camping out in the back for 3 days watching the V8 Supercars and driving back. Feel free to post or leave a comment. Big Ups to the moderators and contributing members. Cheers
  18. Hey guys and gals I have just recently purchased some second hand 4 spot Brembos off a Falcon thinking they would go straight on my Turbo Terry but not the case. I have seen them on a few Territories but no one seems to have an off the shelf bracket set up I can buy
  19. Sup guys n gals new to this page just wanting some advice!!! I purchased a xr6turbo ba and when under acceleration it makes a loud squealing noise!! Any help would be much appreciated rickybobby!
  20. I have a vibration in my wheels at 55 km ph and a couple of other speeds. Its not wheels, alignment or balance. I have been told that it could be the harmonics in the exhaust and air flow through the breathing of the car. Done a CAI, Tune, High Flow Cat, 4 inch dump, stock exhaust. Looking at putting a Xforce 3.5 inch cat back exhaust on which might fix or move the vibration to a new speed. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what you did to fix. Thanks 2013 XR6T

    lowndes ute

can anyone tell me what an xr6 Craig Lowndes turbo ute got to differ from a standard xrt6 turbo ute , cheers
  22. HI guys I'm Josh, I just joined up to your forum as I am a big enthusiast for the XR6 TURBO's and would love to dicuss anything and everything about them. I currently have a 2004 July Built BA XR6 TURBO that has had alittle work done peformance wise and mechanically. I have literally in the last 3 weeks had; - turbo core replaced - new braided oil line - all new inlet and outlet hoses replaced - new engine mounts - new front drivers side wheel bearing replaced - rear brakes re-done Along with a few other general maintenance things sorted. The issue I seem to have now come across is that when the car is turning left at certain degrees and at certain speeds, I am getting a rubbing/vibrating sensation that has only come out in the last 3 days, along with this I have also noticed a thumping kind of sound coming from under the car roughly around the footwell area upon turning and also going over bumps. My mechanic has advised me my propshaft bearing is worn but said it would not be an issue for a while. I was hoping you guys could help point me in the right direction with possible issues.
  23. Hi I was wondering if the fg mk2 luxury pack 19inch wheels fit over pbr m-series brakes because even brake shops I've spoken to seem to all have different answers. If they don't then what brake kits do fit. Thanks
  24. So thought it was time to write up my new addiction! The 3 of April 2016 I brought a 04 xr6 t ute 4sp auto as a cheap daily work ute, Car was completely stock and in great condition and paid $6900 for it. By the 4th I was already looking into mods and decided to give it a little upgrade. First mods and service was booked in to a local tuner for the 8th. Work done, Fuel filter, k&n air filter, 460 pump, spark plugs, 42lb injectors, Fg front brakes, Dba slotted 322 rotors, bendix pads, full auto service, diff flush, 2.5inch duel zorst and HP tune, 6k in the bin Got 330hp 500ft pound of torque @ 12psi On the 15th I had Atomic valve springs fitted and a new tune, $1500 and got 324hp 690ft pound of torgue. Not happy with this result and boring drive I started on here searching for how to get this ute to life. On the 28 of April I put the car back in to the tuner to see if anything was wrong as I had a miss, I had filthy fuel rails which stuffed everything. Had a new set of rails fitted a new set of injectors again only 42s I dont know why but.... and another 460 pump. $2500 later it was tuned back to only 327hp and 690ft pound Again banging my head I kept searching on the need to get it going. Although the car was now driving smooth and much more response it was still boring lol. On the 12th of May I had it back at the tuners after splitting a hose and sending it on a tow truck. This round of mods got expensive, Weld turbo housing, trans cooler, 12psi actuator, 4 inch dump, 5 inch cat, 36mm waste gate mod, repair helicoil, flange and mod the zorst, plaz 1000hp cooler. 8k later I had 364hp and 820ft pound of torgue, But maxed the 42s, so told the tuner to put bigger in as I want to do E85 later on, I went to work and told them ill be back to pick it up later! He fitted 62s.... grrr I was seriously pissed off here as I got another $1100 bill for the injectors and another tune, This was when I got the Himalaya graph!!! 375hp 854ft pound Due to the graph and the car now stalling every time I stopped I was not happy at all. After a few guys on here advised me to take it to a new tuner... I booked in to CMS for the 2nd of June, $1500 later and my car on the dyno all day being sorted out, I got 296kwrw and 1080nm with the 62s maxed Car felt strong for about 20 minutes then I hit a new problem. First thought was intake starving the turbo, had that fix by a machenic in newy with new turbo oil line, drive belt, fan belt, idler pully, upper drive belt pulley $600 later That problem hasnt gone so did my coils, still been giving me headaches. Now with the poo's Im going all out The big coin starts here.. Full fg drive line upgrade with tr6060 npc twin plate clutch Billet tail shaft Atomic 698 short with all the whips and chains lol 5 link rear with koni fronts 6 pots in the front with fg f6 rears Nizpro plenum Nizpro battery relo and intake box. Hoping to have it all done within the next few months and pushing the turbo to its limits as I let the block settle in to its new life. Then turbo upgrade when I choose to lol. Theres probably plenty more to write but cant be funked lol. Any input is welcome and thanks heaps to all that have been helping me to date, Mattyp your a champion and have been fantastic with helping me. Jets also been great with his backward riddles of information to guide me

    My XR6 Turbo

My XR6 Turbo - A 2007 BF MkII (07 build date) sedan I bought this car recently thinking I got lucky and had found a winner after looking for a couple of months. It just so happened that my usual mechanic knew the guys who were selling it and it made me feel at ease. I trusted what everyone said and even had my mechanic check it out just to be sure. It felt great and I couldn't fault it...until now. I thought I had done my research but just when I thought everything was sweet I decided to just be extra sure and get a second opinion. Just to give some background I was told the car had certain mods and they all seemed legit and logical as I was told by the performance workshop who last worked on/tuned/modified/serviced the car that the owner was anal retentive and wanted the car to be reliable which I believed even though there were no receipts/dyno sheets to be seen. So I decided to bite the bullet and see someone who knows a little bit about xr6 turbos in the form of Nizpro here in melb. Couldn't be more pleased with the service and knowledge the guys have on tap and are also really upfront and friendly. They put the car on the dyno for me and they also checked a couple of things and lo and behold what did they find but a sh*tty tune and mods that I have been told are more of the budget orientation. I was pretty disappointed at first but then really happy because the $225 I spent on getting the guys to look at it for me may have just saved me the cost of a new motor/turbo. To give you an idea of how bad things can get - the car made 260rwkw (I was told it was making ~280rwkw so that's forgivable...kinda) it was pulling down to 1 degree of timing and the fuel trims were pegged at the maximum which I was told was 30%. Not only that but the car at 12psi had lamda values going from .95ish heading linearly down through the revs to around .70. I was told "It's pinging its head off and I don't want to do another power run". So the moral of the story is to not trust anyone (at least not without proof like me) and have things checked by people in the know. Needless to say I think Nizpro have won me over as a permanent customer from here on in. So what's next? Well an Xcal4 and a new tune is first with possibly other little things depending on what Steve recommends/thinks. However buying a house is happening almost as we speak so no/low boost for me below 4000rpm grandma driving until I can sort the new tune and xcal out. Really can't speak highly enough of the service I got from Nizpro (Simon and Dave) from the email response to talking me through everything wrong with the mods/tune for what I want out of the car. I have no-one but myself to blame but hey we all live and learn. Can post pics of the car if anyone is interested/cares. This forum is going to be like a second home for me I think until I'm happy with the car. Cheers, Nathan P.S. Would also love to hear peoples thoughts on where to purchase an xcal4 from either from Nizpro or used or from somewhere else like online as I'd rather do it sooner rather than later.
