  1. Hey guys, Just wanted to get some advice. Just recently my car has started breathing heavier then usual. My Mods are; Billet to4z turbo with std rear housing and .85 front 650cc Injectors Plazmaman intercooler w/ throttle body relocation kit (3" cold side 2.5" hot side) Surge tank with external 044 fuel pump External wastegate w/ screamer pipe 4" dump with 3.5" exhaust and high flow cat Cushion button clutch and t56 gearbox Atomic Valve Springs Basic oil catchcan for the rear breather Car is making a safe and reliable 335kw atw. Now tuner has said I can go more but I dont want to break the engine ( its not a BA engine, its a NA one I believe but not risking anything until I know for sure what the hell is in the bottom end) All I know is ive had this thing on the limiter and stretched the redline point to 6500 and still goes hard everyday without missing a beat. Its always had a breathing issue and little amount of oil coming out. When I idled it the other day it was still running fine no issues but breathing 2x heavier then usual but same amount of oil maybe a smidge more. Can anyone shed some light on this please? or let me know exactly whats going whether my oil rings are on the way out of if they know of people with the same issue and no dramas? would just prefer some more detail info? I had a seperate tuner look at it when it was making 285rwkw and he just said engine is gone its going to blow dont bother wasting your time etc, but im now at 335rwkw and no dramas..... yet (touchwood). thanks
  2. hay guys im new to this just trying to sort stuff out I have a ba xr6t Ute ive noticed the last few week ive had a ruff idle that comes and goes. mainly when I stop at the light its like it wants to stall. been to shop they don't see anything wrong can I have some input on that. also while cleaning my inter cooler pipes today I found that my turbo has broken fins?? has little if so no play still spins freely. any ideas on that too??

About me: Im Chris Findlay, im 18 years old from Noosa Queensland, yep that makes me a P-Plater... I have an unfinished project car currently sitting in my shed awaiting its finish.. Its a 1982 Ke70 Corolla.. It has been built with the purpose and intentions to be used for drifting, I have spent roughly 25k on it to date, and it is pretty highly modified, with everything from brand new leather bucket seats, momo steering wheel, 4age 16v Quad throttle engine conversion with 250hp at the flywheel, coilovers strut braces, sway bars, sunroof, ae86 break upgrade all the way to 4 link trailing arms etc.. Hey guys, im new here so first thing I thought I would to was post a thread on my new car.. As you have read above its a 2011 XR6T, im yet to see it in the flesh as I work away and I purchased it from Victoria, had it shipped over here to Queensland, where it has been parked in my garage until I get home tomorrow night (Sunday 14/10/11), I bought the car from Hillis Motor Group, they were awesome to deal with, and the offer 100% perfect customer service. This ute has been purchased for the intention of use as a daily driver, but due to me only being home 9 days, 12 times a year (I work a 28 on 9 off rotation) Im extremely keen to take it to Queensland Raceway when I can for the occasional drift night.. I have the car booked in for this coming Thursday at Tint-A-Car to receive the darkest legal Octane tint, which should look awesome. First thing Monday morning I am debadging the boot and side skirts of the car, although it is still registered as a turbo vehicle, and insured with Just Car insurance as turbo.. I have a cunning plan which has worked for mates with high powered turbo vehicles on their Provisional licence to allow me to drive this vehicle without any hassle from the Police and its simple.. My local mechanic gave me a full receipt for labor and necessary parts for a "TURBO REMOVAL" back dated to the afternoon the vehicle was delivered to my house.. I will simply place this receipt in the glove box for use when needed.. Also I am going to do my best to hide the turbo (Although it is lower-mounted which is pretty hidden already) with metal heat shielding.. So far I have purchased a few bits and bobs to give this car some hidden potential.. Below is a list of what I have purchased so to date.. Had be driving for about 50 mins today when noticed steam coming from under car, let sit for 10 mins and dropped very large puddle of red transmission oil, moved about 500m to park indoors for weekend and was just reving going about 20kms, After moving it I had a look underneath an it looked to be leaking from around where tranny bolts to motor can anybody please help? Car done 156000km
  5. hi, well I have bought a new HOLSET HX50 Pro Series 700hp Turbo with GARRETT T04 rear housing with a T4 flange, my problem is that the EX/Manifold is a T3 flange and I dont want to replace it with an aftermarket MF so if you guys have any idea how I can keep the stock manifold but get the new turbo on and also get wastegate onto the setup somehow to AND a custom dump pipe that will suit both a 3.5" exhaust and the turbo.. lol any ideas/pics of your own setups would be GREAT! thanks guys. oan
  6. Gents, This will be a long read - with many questions - but I see plenty of people asking and the information is scattered or not correct over the net. I was hoping to not only receive but give, by providing a in depth build thread... I like to dabble in cars quite a bit, A good friend of mine has A nice Black FG XR6 flat tray non turbo ute. Lowered, painted black gloss stock 18inch wheels - he had Ford install an LSD and I beleive the bonnet is sporting a FPV Bonnet bulge... The plan is to either find a wrecked XR6T,or a Complete motor and harness / box, or a Complete motor, or what have you to make this work in typical backyard budget built not bought style. We are not wanting to spend more than $6k or so on stage one. ---> Fit, Tune and Run the car as a Turbo. Later progress when the car is revoked from "work" duties, plans will get a little more serious. So queries I have for the Motor specialists to get us started. 1) Are the XR6T motors all the same and should we just stick to FG motors only...? 2) What is the difference mechanically between the N/A and Turbo Falcons? ( Block, Crank - Rods - Pistons - Rings - Head, Cams, Valves, Injectors, Radiator, ECU ) The differences will help me plan an attack on the motor - Can I upgrade the Pistons and Rings - cyl head then just bolt Turbo stuff on? Or are the motors significantly different? 3) It's manual - is there any difference in the gearboxes between N/A to Turbo? Is the bolt pattern different? Please feel free to offer any parts you may have for sale that will help with our project (within budget) - ideas - opinions, obviously relevant and helpful. If you have complete motor - or a long motor ect... But remember we have to stick to our budget for the first stage as yes money is an issue and also it is used as a Delivery / work vehicle for the next year. Im sure if you have old antique furniture or special wood which you want restored my mate would gladly trade his services for parts as this is his bread and butter. His work is awesome. We are looking for a base to start the transformation, I have taken on numerous projects but never with the blue oval badge so if some of my questions seem basic - forgive me.   7. Hey guys, Just discovered the Forums and thought I would ask you for some knowledge. (I used the search function, came up with no results). Just wondering about things I should expect before buying a xr6t. The one I am looking at is going cheaper than most others, which could be due to swift sale, or could be due to issues. I am currently contacting the owner and talking to him about it. What are some common issues with this type of car, things I should ask about, and more importantly things to look for when inspecting? What are the running costs of this car like? I have noticed it is a 4.0l and yet the fuel consumption is listed as similar to many 2.0 and 3.0l cars on the market. Any general owners information would be useful. Thanks, Sam
  8. Seen this question posted on the internet and made me think what I myself would actually do What would you modify on your car if you could only do 1 thing? Would it be wheels? Suspension? An exhaust or something else? But remember, only one! I reckon I would go with suspension for a better overall drive. Can make a crap drive a good one if it's comfortable, and a crap suspension setup can make a good drive quite simply, sh*t IMO. Post up what you would do but of course lol..limit to one mod haha

  10. Hey all, So I know there's a few of these threads going around and I've searched and searched and I think I'm just making myself more confused. Basically I want to build a daily that I can take to the drags and with some practise run atleast a 13(a high 12 would be nice). I would aim for an 11 but I know the driveline mods needed are probs out of my budget(for now!). Budget is 3k-7k MAX depending on what I get...Basically aiming as cheap as can reliably. The Car: BF mk 2(08/06) XR6 Turbo Mods so far are minimal being: Bilstein coilovers all round.Photo is of when I got it though will update when I get home! Just put the earls turbo oil filter on and ditched the old one as recommended here! Glad I did after seeing it. So the questions I have are: Intercooler kits - I know what's out there PW,Plasmaman ect but what do I need to avoid losing power at my goals? I can't find an answer apart from don't get a monza or f6 cooler. I want to do it properly so if I need a stage 3 I will buy it but if stage 1 will be safe then great! Injectors - What brand and size? Some say get the biggest so you can power up later but how big? I was thinking of going Siemens here. Exhaust - Pretty easy one from reading I'm thinking the cat, centre muffler removal and bigger dump will be enough.(Size?) Fuel Pump - ???? Here as I've been given mixed ideas some say you NEED a surge tank, other just upgrade the pump. Tune and xcal3 - No brainer on xcal 3 and will probably head to Monsta Torque for tune(Heard nothing but good things). Sorry for the novel, but I think every persons needs are different so let me know what you think please! Want to start collecting parts asap so I can get it tuned. Just finished servicing everything I could think of to make it ready.
  11. Hi Everyone, I have a BF MK II XR6 Turbo that has been sitting in a Ford dealers yard in Melbourne for a year. The turbo blew causing the engine to go and it was 100 km under the extended warranty km limit. Because the last service was done interstate and they didn't stamp the book, the dealer has refused to fix it under warranty and as I have cancer I cant afford to pay the $7000 they want to charge me to fix it. Today they told me they will buy it for $3000 or they will report it to the police as a dumped car and have it removed. I cant afford to take them to VCAT to try to have this resolved and my illness makes me unfit to fight it out with them either. This car was my pride and joy I saved a long time to buy it from a dealer I has used many times before over the years and as much as I am mad as hell that they wont fix it, I need to get it repaired as I may have to sell it to pay for my next round of cancer treatment. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might resolve this or any ideas on how I could get it running again for less than the $7000 they are quoting me. I hate the thought of having to sell my beloved car but I may have no choice and selling it running is obviously going to be a better option. Thanks in advance for your help.Oh and I have been a member for a long time but I cant remember my user details so I just used my Facebook to get in here to ask. My 2 girls told me to get on here and ask, thank god for teens and Facebook I say lol. Thank you for any ideas you have to help me sort this out.

  13. Just wondering.. If I mix the decent nulon octaine booster - claiming to boost fuel octaine by 5 octaine points, with 91 unleaded, will that be safe for use in an xr6T, and would the quality be just as good as 95 octaine?
  14. hi guys, just bought a 11/09 fg xr6 turbo ute last month. was verry happy with it untill I sent it up on the hoist at work only to find the turbo was leaking oil in a big way. so sent it back to titan ford under warenty, got it back the next day and the service advisor told me it was leaking through the induction pipe, yes I know its normal for a bit of oil to pass through from the engine breather but this is a huge leak. anyway after 5 mins of argueing someone told me that they tightened up the oil feed line, so I dont know what to belive. I did 100kms in it and then put it up on the hoist again only to find it leaking just as bad, but that's not all, it is now leaking coolant from the turbo aswell!!! so back to ford I went, went and picked it up the next day. they told me that they pressure tested the cooing system overnight and couldnt fault it, and regaurding the oil leak they put a new hose clamp on the induction piping (probably because they reefed the old one so hard and broke it) so back to square one :( I have a friend at a different ford dealership who is a service advisor,and their boss is away atm and he is doing all bookings/warenty stuff and said he will just book in for a brand new turbo under warenty. im not to sure on this as I dont know if it is the turbo at fault or not and dont want them to get in the sh*ts for doing it. do you guys know what normaly leaks on them? it looks to me like its the feed line that is leaking but aparently they have tightend it, so dont know if it needs a new washer or if something is warped or what? would you gofor the new turbo or just keep sending it back or what?? thanks in advance Andy
  15. Hi pple got a problem put a external wastgate on my fg g6et and a boost tap in jectors etc the problem is on the dyno the boost hits 17 psi the drops to 5 psi can any one help would b apreciated as its on the rollers now cheers
  16. Just a random question people, as I'm probably going to keep my BA Turbo for 2-3 years, just wondering what I could get in the $25,000 bracket in two years time... as in, what years models and such will be down to that price range by then.. maybe a smick FPV
