  1. Hi all, reasonably new to this group but having dramas with my fg. Car is an fg with a built 698 atomic engine with about 50000km on it. It started off dropping number 5 cylinder with a fault code suggesting it was coils, changed coils same problem. For about half an hour then dropped 5 again. After that You could start it up and it would run on sequential injection for the first 10 seconds then immediately drop number 5 again. So we decided maybe we would do the imjector harness. So we replaced that and got another new computer and loaded files onto it. At last she ran on all 6, even dynoed it and all again. Then without warning its dropped number 1 cylinder, with fault codes pointing to coil windings, swapped coils but number one has nothing. Doesn't even run on 6 when first started. That brings us to today. Starts and runs on 5 cylinders. I'm at breaking point and any help would be appreciated files onto it and it was fixed... For about half an hour then dropped 5 again.   2. Damp evening + crappy road + my lead food & poor judgement = a new friend out of a chain link fence. So the bumpers cosmetically ruined, bonnets dinged in a bit, headlight is covered in scratches however not broken, a few scratches on the quarter panel & there's a newly installed leaf blower under the hood stealing all my boost. From the looks of it the piping is all mangled up but the bottom of the intercooler is also dinted up a little bit. Now I always wanted an F6 bumper and since one headlight already wants replacing I figured ill just get 2 new F6 (same as g6) ones. There are fibreglass F6 bumpers for $310 raw on ebay. QUESTIONS: Anyone experienced these bumpers? They any good? Where else should I look? Whats a paint job roughly gonna cost? Do F6 & xr & G6 all have the same fog lights? I may get a chance to pull it apart and get a closer look friday night, otherwise not till sunday. QUESTIONS: Driving with a big air leak shouldn't be a problem should it? its blowing out extra air rather than sucking in dirt so I should be right to drive the 10min to & from work? Now if there's no actual hole torn in the intercooler it should be just fine to leave in there? just slightly less efficient? If not I might pony up for a PW Stage 2 Ill go see a panel beater about fixing the bonnet, not interested in an xr8 one. I might vinyl wrap the bonnet & the roof as it gets covered in bird crap every day at work atm rather than repainting the bonnet. If I'm lucky I think the quarter panel marks may buff out.
  3. Hey guys, just wondering has anyone actually put 12"wide with 0 offset rims under the back of a fg ute ? I'm thinking about doing it myself but want to know if I will have any hiccups along the way other then obvious guard work... Cheers
  4. Been wanting a Falcon for a long time but never actually been able to afford one. Finally managed to get to that point now. Just picked this beast up on the weekend from Christchurch and drove it back to Auckland. All I can say is WHAT A RIDE. So happy with the car, it is absolutely perfect. 2009 FG G6E Turbo Completely factory untouched FPV Wheels Blackened front bumper XR6 Spolier Premium *cough* sound (maybe my only complaint about the car haha)
  5. Hi all, Long time lurker, I have decided to post up my up and coming build. As it sits, my ute is pretty much stock, just a K and N air filter I got from amazon . com for around $63 shipped to perth and a whiteline swaybar at the front. There is also an intake muffler delete in the engine bay and that's about it right now... Plans as it sits now: I have a MANTA 4" to twin 3" system ready to go on a set of Injector Dynamics 1000cc squirters lower temp thermostat herrod intake piping (which may be up for sale... NEW, just opened to look at) to acquire: intercooler and piping kit... (was thinking stage 2 process west kit... thoughts, comments welcome) turbo wastegate modding.. spoke to a great company that will mod the turbo when I pull it off, half a day to perform the work and a very reasonable price surge tank and pump set up.. ( ideas on breed welcome ) 11.8psi actuator anything else I have missed??? Ultimately I am only looking for 500rwhp Cheers

Just wondering if anybody has used/purchased the pingtune kit and installed it onto their FG turbo???? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FG-XR6-Turbo-F6-Intercooler-piping-kit-/181298728845?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a363f0f8d I noticed they are having a "sale" on their website....so its $320+$18 postage....which would have to be one of the cheapest kits ever made for the FG. Now....I gather their e-mail tunes are sh*thouse....but would their products be as well? The inner jew wants to stinge out....but after my last stingy effort (buying RDA instead of DBA)...the phrase poor man pays twice has never been so true for me So....anybody on here installed the kit and how is the quality of parts and the fitment of parts (and if tuned how much boost have you smashed in?)...as my one concern is they may have used cheap alloy piping (too thin?) and maybe their silicone/clamps are cheap as well....and perhaps a hardcore tune was enough to blow them apart lol or am I just being paranoid and there is nothing wrong with the kit??? It would be super duper if ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE INSTALLED IT can comment....but I'm not sure if the purchasers are on this site I.e. most of you would be rich/smart enough to go with brand name gear....the ebay listing says 21 kits have been sold (but if people were smart they would purchase straight from the website I would imagine?) and therefore there could be more than 21 cars rocking the high quality setup hahaha Thanks yall......

  8. I went to get some new pads fitted and the mechanic said he couldn't get them on as the teflon ? tips to the brake pistons had warped. He suggested replacing with the steel ones used in the earlier models. This is on a 2009 xr6t with updgraded brakes - dba4000 ?....... the heat treated ones anyway slotted front rotors and standard dba slotted rotors on the rears. Don't recall the pads he got but some heavier duty than normal ones. Question is do I ; file down the originals ? replace with new teflon ones, or replace with steel ones from earlier model ? Experiences and opinions appreciated. Cheers Stu

Hey Ive just fitted my new PWR stepped intercooler on my FG, Bumper in back on fine looks sweet however the black undertray in having difficulty getting it right. seems to be suffereing from a see-saw like force which I can only put down to the intercooler affecting it, If I fix the undertray at the front of the bumper the back wont pull up and visa versa. question is can I live without this under tray or is it neccessary to prevent road grime and dirt and sh*t being thrown up on moving parts like the steering rack or something..... intercooler is fresh out the box and polished and shmick under tray is an asshole can I take it off?
  10. G'day, I've been getting the occasional clunk or thump from the back end of the car when I let off the accelerator. It's most noticeable in stop start traffic or when you let up from giving it a boot full. From what I've read on this excellent forum I came to suspect it was something to do with a split diff bushing so I had a peak under the car and sure enough it looks like a split bushing (attached photo). Any ideas how much that might cost to fix and is it worth staying with the OEM bushing given that I don't really drive it too hard most of the time and it's a stock auto or should I look at something aftermarket? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Joe

  12. after taking a mate for a drive ,he decided to fit a turbo 6 with a 6 speed automatic . is it a hard conversion to do ,due to not running abs and speed sensors .what other problems would he face ? thanks for any help
  13. hey guys ive just upgraded my turbo to a gtx3582 on my auto fg xr6t but the guys at mtq stuffed up the gate mod and boost cant be controlled below 18psi and 18psi is way to much for the stock fuel system so im going to go a plasmaman surge with twin 044s or walbro 460's ready for e85 when it come to townsville but the cam chain guides are worn out so while ive got it apart I wanna do the oil pump and a nice set of cams ive gotta few questions is it worth it going for twin pumps ive hurd ill have to change the fuel reg if I go the twin pumps should I go the fuel rail as well I plan on running e85 and whats the biggest cams I can run with the auto and stock converter do I need to change the intire oil pump housing and or just the gears short term plans are to run 19-21 psi on 98 fuel and around the 400-420kw mark with a mid to high 10sec 1/4mile
  14. hey guys got my car back from the shop got new injectors and a retune , to replace my dodgy drilled injectors and previous tune, went from 303rwkw to 322rwkw mods are 4inch mild steel exhaust 1000cc ids atomic springs rapid systems v2 cooler pipes and turbo side intake with battery relo nizpro built stage 2 zf with intermediate shaft opt as well molly drive shaft mt streets 275 40 17 xcal 3 race tune for the box from nizpro race tune from TMS with octane booster down in mackay at the strip I managed a best of 11.80 at 115mph with a 1.7 60 the cars full weight stock converter stock turbo street legal tyres drove from Townsville and back , got back to Townsville and the stock turbo died the next day ( 110xxxklms) so I brought a GTX3582R got mtq to port my gate and new flapper and bolted it on with a new oil line with a filter got it on the dyno two days ago and the gate mod isn't good enough to control the boost cant run less than 18psi and cause ive ran out of money Im still using the stock intank pump even so it made 374.9rwkw with out knocking, but its way leaner than my tuner likes and he told me not to rev it above 4000rpm until its got a surge tank and new pump has anyone had trouble with the gate not flowing enough and how did you overcome the problem also what does everyone think of my time
  15. I appreciate that these boxes can be a bit notchy, especially the 1st to 2nd gear change, but has anyone with these boxes experienced 2nd gear grinding? It happened maybe once or twice in my FG XR6T and was me being lazy with the clutch, but it's happened in my GT much more frequently when I'm giving it a good boot full and shifting hard 1st to 2nd. It's not as a result of me being lazy with the clutch either, as I've made a conscious effort to make sure the clutch is pressed in fully...if it was in any further it'd be through the firewall. It's been more pronounced since having a Rip Shifter fitted, but I'm told by the shop who installed the Rip shifter that it was setup correctly with the positive stops as if they weren't it would pop out of gear etc. I also had a mate drive my car to see if it was just me and same thing happened to him twice in a short drive, the car was nice and warm too so it's not just a symptom of being cold. Is this just normal for these gearboxes, or does it sound like there's something wrong? My turbo I could be mid drift at the top of first gear and slam 2nd hard without any issues or grinding, but I'm somewhat nervous about doing the same with the GT...which is disconcerting. I've also noticed that with this car once I've let the clutch out after a gear change there's a tiny bit of play in the clutch, in that I can flick it out a tiny bit further than it releases on its own by lifting my toes up underneath the pedal. It also feels a little loose at which point and creaks a little, which I'd expect with an older model, but not a brand new car with 5,000kms on it. This is my first twin plate clutch, so is this normal? Or should it pop all the way out by itself and have no more movement at which point?
  16. Hi, I was wondering what is the max wheel and rim specs for an FG Falcon for both front and rear? I would like to know whats the max wheel diameters, widths, tyre widths, heights and offset of hub for rear and front? The legal specs and the illegal specs? And, the distance from the hub to the edge of the fender (used to calculate offset)? Anything would be appreciated.
  17. So iv had my FG XR6T ute for awhile and with my steel tray, tools and gear I reckon iv dropped an extra 400kg on it that I'm hauling every day. Its dropped 50mm from stock and is only 40mm off the bump stops. Because I want headroom to carry more weight I want some Heavier rated springs, then maybe quality airbags for the REALLY heavy stuff and to have fun bouncing up and down. (ill decide on that later) Airbags alone would be fine for daily use but wont cut it by them selves for anything extra. Don't quite want a 1tonn package but something beefier then the current sports pack. While I would love my Ute to be as low as possible I need the extra static weight capacity. Suspension currently feels really doughy, headlights are pointing up and mudflaps scrape going out my driveway What leaves do people here have or had experience with? Do I have to replace shocks & stuff as well? Iv got tomorrow off work so ill try calling some manufacturers. Everyone in town know how to lower a ute, but not how to predictably raise one for increased GVM. lol
  18. So I wanna set up an Ipad mini or Ipod touch with my music and to run torque or one of those obd2 Bluetooth apps. Does anyone know if IPads work properly with music and Charging with the FG mk1 ipod system. My IPod cable was dodgy when I got it, not always working or charging my iPhone and soon broke catastrophically. ill have to fork out for a new one to do the setup. Someones got a 2nd hand IPad mini for a good price ill buy if it'll work properly.
  19. Hi, I want to change the rubber elbow and plastic barb breather fitting (the one one halfway. Up the rocker. Cover on the passenger side) to an AN fitting. What size do I need? Do I tap the rocker cover? Anyone done this? Thanks in advance for any help
  20. Hi All I am looking at getting possibly an XR6 Turbo.... I have driven FG XR6's before but recently took 2 XR6 Turbo's for a run... Was quite impressed with the performance....... I have never owned a vehicle equiped with a Turbo and am just wondering whether there any issues with the Turbo's in terms of reliability. I'm looking at getting one with about 60-80k on the clock... Are there any issues in general with the XR6 Turbo models, e.g. possibly drivetrain issues... How long do the Turbo's normally run for, before they need to be repaired/rebuilt...???? I took 2 XR6 Turbo for a test drive recently, they were both ex-cop cars... The acceleration was good, but the decleration seem to be very harsh, and one had a bit of a knock with deceleration...I assume there could be some play in the drive train... e.g When I acelerated hard the pickup was great, but as soon asI backed of the accelerator, the decelaration was quite harsh...as if it was caught in a low gear with high revs, so when I backed of the accelerator, the deceleration was quick/very harsh...is this normal on the xr6 turbo.... I have driven standard xr6's before and never experienced this.... Is it normal that deceleration to be quite harsh on the Turbo's, or is it perhaps something to do with hows the cop cars are tuned, as the XR6 turbo's I drove were both ex-cop cars....   21. hey guys I recently purchased a 08 fg xr6 ute, and have done the usual mods, exhaust 20" wheels and such. I am now looking at lowering it a few places have said blocks but ive read that there were issues with lowering the fg ute to much with the tailshaft or such, just looking for more info before I go ahead and lower it. I wont be slamming it but low enough to look nice. cheers

  23. So iv just bought myself a 2010 FG XR6T Ute, picking it up this weekend. Im Getting a Steel tray Fabricated with all the extras I could think of as I plan to keep it for quite a long time. 3 Under tray toolboxes, 20l water tank, Removable rear ladder rack, removable ladder rack pins and Trundle drawer. Just wondering what length trays most people have? I want as long a tray as I can, however as a builder I'm all ways picking up trailers and iv seen a lot of trays that extend way out past the towbar, which I reckon looks stupid and would be an absolute pain in the bollocks! Does anyone know if there are any particular towbar kits that reach out a fair way? Heavier duty the better. Iv got another concern. Ill be doing a Dual battery and air compressor setup under the tray (once I find some more cash) for the Airbag suspension. But with these toolboxes & the drawer underneath, I dont think there will be much room left to fit them, maybe between the chassis rails or something? Im not sure how the fuel tank, exhaust & stuff are organized under there. Any help would be awesome

  25. Hi Guys, Just a quick question - has anyone had anything to do with the Ebay seller PerformanceWorld1? Looking at their Bosch 440cc Injectors that are a direct fit for fg xr6/g6E etc. Genuine? Anybody that can confirm as pictures are not detailed enough and cannot be enlarged which rings alarm bells for me. Cheers in advance !
