  1. I suppose a topic with this title may attract some defensive comments from members but I am not looking to create an argument - just trying to make sense of an observation I have made recently. I have an F6E and recently drove a GT-P and GT-E. With 335kw, I was expecting the GTs to be very noticeably quicker than the 6, yet in every way, at every rpm, the GTs felt like I had left the hand brake on by comparison. Why ?? They are specced at having more torque and on paper, a better torque curve as well. So what's going on here. Now the GTs were very quick, but the 6 is like lightning. At 5,500 rpm, the GT was starting to pull like the 6, but the 6 pulls that hard all the way from 2,500 to 6,000. Traction was not an influencing factor. All were on pulp. Temp and air pressure comparable. WTF? Did FPV deliberatley advertise the F6 specs below real world performance so their flagship v8 looks good? Admittedly, you don't get a nice noise from the rear of the 6 - where the v8 sounds incredible. But with that sort of noise you expect performance to match. Has anyone else made a fair comparison of the two factory-stock cars? Should I get my 6E dyno'ed? I suppose it is possible that a previous owner tuned it but my 6E seems to go like other F6s I have driven. TJS
  2. Hey People, my name is Petar and this is my first post! Just bought myself a 2008 FG F6 sedan last week, saved up for this thing for 3 years! Ill be doing some mods here and there but the first thing I want to do is get it loward. I don't want to slam this thing on its ass but just want it sitting nice so I dont get defected or anything. I want it to be riding smooth and not stiff, what is the best way to go about this? different springs or sock and springs? Thanks heaps and here is a photo of it
  3. blew a piston in my 6th cylinder, buying a new bottom end motor, and getting the top end rebuilt. wanting more power out of the car, so whilst its all apart just need few ideas of performance mods I can do. e.g cams, pistons, etc

Hi All, Sunday morning brought the nasty sound of a bearing / shaft failure on my 6 month old F6's turbo (at 10,200km) :( In hindsight we suspect it was probably a little louder than 'normal' for a couple of minutes after datrtup the previous couple of days. Now this one has always been louder (induction wise) than the last FG (don't ask why there's a 2nd, unless you want to see a pic of the results of steering rack failure on a month old car...) but not excessively so. Into the local dealer on Monday to let em know & get a warranty repair organised. "We will have to diagnose it first" So, "yes, you have a turbo failure, we think excessive end float & the rotor has gone into the housing." O.K. SO. What I need to know is: What other damage should I be concerned about here. At this stage , I believe they have ordered a turbo, gaskets, lines & filter as replacement parts..... If its on the exhaust side I am presuming that it could have thrown fragments of a blade down into the cat, which would basically destroy it. If its on the compressor side, & we have metal dust going down the intake, what should I be asking them to do about it ? I am concerned that this is all to easy to say "She'll be right" & for them to not worry about the long term consequences of a handful of metal filings having gone through the intake ? Any suggestions as to the path to take here ? Thanks

  7. hey there abit confused with what mods I need done on the turbo? I understand it has an internal wastegate, what needs to be done to get an external wastegate done? does the turbo need to be bored out for an exhaust? and the actuator whats the go with all 3 im abit confused atm.. looking at a 4inch dump to a 3inch system x force and love the sound of external gate? please open to suggestions and help!
  8. G'day everyone I have recently traded my 09 FG F6 manual for a 11 FG XR6T auto ute and was wondering if any could tell me if the XR will run the boost and oil temp gauges if I performed a dash conversion any experience?? Cheers in advance!!
  9. Hi gang, want to compare custom tunes on FG F6s. What's rwkw did you end up getting? What did u spend? Where did u get it done? What other mods were made ie injectors, cooler, exhaust etc? Overall satisfaction out of 10. I want to publish some $ per kw stats for all to see. Could be interesting.....
  10. Having one of these under the bonnet helps.... This is project "Monster" F6 built by BTA Motorsports with the aim of getting maximum power out the engine without turning it into a full on race car. As they say - talk is cheap, let's see the dyno figures, that's why we've attached the video below. Enjoy:)

  12. Hi, Wondering if anyone can help with advice or information on an issue we have been having with a BF mk2 F6 Typhoon. Just last week we managed to snap the third input shaft fitted to the cars ZF 6-speed. This latest break occurred on the change into third gear at 60kph, no where near boost. The last shaft to break was rated at 900HP. As is we currently have a peak of 360kw and 750nm of torque at the wheels. The box has been built somewhat, and it seems like there was a quick slip on the gear change which shocked the drive train. I Think that there may be an overall fault with the box rather than faulty shafts, causing some sort of misalignment or something due to a malformation. I've suggested ditching this box and fitting a fully manualised and built C4, others involved think we should rebuild this same box again, but I cant help but feel that if it didn't work the first three times, its a lot of money and time to outlay to try for a fourth in a seemingly faulty box. Is this a unique issue? or something common in ZF's when the torque is upped a bit? I'm no genius with transmission work, so any help or thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks.
  13. hi, well I have bought a new HOLSET HX50 Pro Series 700hp Turbo with GARRETT T04 rear housing with a T4 flange, my problem is that the EX/Manifold is a T3 flange and I dont want to replace it with an aftermarket MF so if you guys have any idea how I can keep the stock manifold but get the new turbo on and also get wastegate onto the setup somehow to AND a custom dump pipe that will suit both a 3.5" exhaust and the turbo.. lol any ideas/pics of your own setups would be GREAT! thanks guys. oan

  15. Hey guys, I'm currently driving a BA XR6t and im thinking of upgrading to a BF F6..... It's purely an aesthetic thing, I prefer the look and the interior and I think they'll keep their value much better. Another reason is I'm tired of the 5 speed manual gearbox..... Is there a price range to look for as well?
  16. Hi All, I am in the market for a XR6T but the local dealer has a 2011 F6 sedan for marked price of $55k. Its a demo that's done 150km. It has the luxuries like premium sound, dualzone climate and leather. Is this a good deal? how does is compare to a XR6T (value for money wise). How is a F6 in the long run compared to a XR6T? (maintenance costs, reliability) What should I look for before buying?? Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks,

It's been my dream since the day I knew what a car was to own my version of Ford glory, and it all happened for me in May of this year. I've just bought a BF FPV MkII Tornado, and although somebody elses eyes gleamed as it rolled of the showroom floor (I'll get there one day), she's mine now and I have no intention of trading her in anytime soon! But If you'r like me and you also feel the same way about your baby, you wanna know more about the origions and exclusivity of your pride and joy, so I thought a good way would be by posting the Build No, Make, Model and length of time owned in a bid to find out more! My car: Build No. 180 2006 BF MkII F6 Tornado, has Ego Paint Job, Premium Sound and the Brembo Package. (Would also love to know if anyone knows anything about the build no's - exclusivity to models, special model #'s etc etc) I know the car started out life being driven around Sydney, then was sent to Adelaide, and had at least one owner before I got my hands on it! Now I know someone out there didn't just order an BF F6 ute with a brembo package for a work horse - they wanted to have some fun! They probably loved it just as much as me, and well if there is one place I know where ford lovers hang out, this is definately one of them! So if you were once the proud owner of Build No. 180, I'd love to hear from you! Or if you would like to find out more about your own beast... post away! Cheers!
