  1. just converting from 3v v8 to turbo 6 .redcliffe dyno said that the aluminium tail shaft is not strong enough .so got to change it to a turbo 6 ute tail shaft .the wreckers send me some pictures but the part that bolts up to the diff (yolk )is different .mine is just 4 bolts and theres is 8 dolts but it has a big rubber thing on the end .my diff has got 8 bolt holes but just unsure if it will work ?
  2. where is the cheapest place to buy mickey Thompson et streets 235 60 15 ? they are for my ute (of road only ) am I better of with a slick or semi slick ,which is cheeper ? they will only be used at the drags and powercruise .thanks for any help

  4. have got some big problems with the engine conversion .I have got the speedo reading nothing at all ,also have the traction control lights on the dash (my ba xt never had traction control ) also the numbers gearbox p -r -d 3-2-1 are flashing (so its in limp mode )the engine and wiring harness is out of a sedan ,and its a ute I have fitted it to .the cods that come up are p0500 vehicle speed A (vss) and u 1900 .the engine starts no probs and it selects gears first and reverse (no other gears ). can anyone give me some help please , thanks
  5. got a ba diff to give away for free ,it has 108000 klm on it its still in the sedan .its no good to me I have a ute (caloundra 4551 ) give me a reply and I will send my phone no to you .also have still got the brakes for give away as well .passenger side door .
  6. just wanted to start my engine ,but no oil pressure while I am winding it over (no spark plugs in engine )had motor turned over to take the sump gasket of before I fitted the engine .I have filled oil in with a syringe thru the turbo oil line ,back to the oil pump .still no oil pressure .what can I do. thanks for any info
  7. was going to mount it where the picture of my piping shows it ,under head light .the engine will have 330 -350 rwkw ,running on 15 psi will this bov work ok .its a turbosmart bov kompact plumb back -34 (ts-0203-1223) I have no idea how they work (I know what they do ) do I have to have a certain spring to suit 15 psi and where is the vacuum line coming from ,my wrecked donor car had no bov at all hooked up . thanks for any help
  8. currently building a sleeper ,it started out as a 3v v8 boat anchor with 47,000 klm only on the clock .was going to fit a under bonnet blower ,but the engine was on its way out . its a long story so I just will say I bought a lemon of a reputable ford dealer ,and after owning it for a couple of days went to the dealer and complained .there reply was (f*ck of and do not come back )have bought cars of them before with no problems . so anyhow the turbo wreck came up start of February this year ,I bought it for $2400 .it had lots of money spend on it (dockets for about $8000 of work done to it by elite . I have fitted a truetrack diff with danna 3.7 gears .$3150 .new paint and bonnet $5000 .new suspension ,rear leafs and front springs new shocks ,camber caster kits and new bushes (nolathane) new ball joints .rebuild turbo and performance wheel .rebuild btr auto with au parts and pump .new hot side piping (which was a pain to fit,rapid system )fitted the xr 6 sound system including tweeters and front and back speakers (had to run al the wiring from the xr 6 .fitted the turbo fuel pump 500 hp walboro .all the fuel lines .fixed the heater shaft so the heater works again .fitted all new air con seals ,condenser and the charcoal canister ,and hoses .fitted the sedans black carpet (looks way better ) fitted the gauges including the cluster . swapped over all the wiring from the turbo car including the engine bay and all the dash wiring .was unable to use the car dash as it was damaged ) had to change all the power steering hoses .fitted new radiator ,water pump ,harmonic balancer,sump gasket (to look at the bottom end sludge or failed parts ) I also have taken the aluminium tray apart again to get it powdercoated again (the clear coat started to crack ) but I most likely will take another 2 month before I can start it (still in bits but slowly getting there ) can not wait to drive it around after all the dramas I had so far building this .thanks to jake (work mate )who helped me with the heavy bits ,but all the rest I done my self .just hope that it will all work in the end (I am only a dumb ass glazier ) the car used to run a 12.300 at willowbank ,hope with some of the extra mods it will even be quicker .ps there are so much more pictures but these will do
  9. have bought a hot side to intercooler piping kit of rapid systems ,after lots of arguments with him he still believes that it should fit .today I have spend about 3 hours trying to get it fitted but it just will not . so I am just thinking what can I do (rapid is just to hard to deal with no help at all just all the time ) I am running out of money and time ,so I might just fit the original hose instead .or was thinking of buying one that fits from a reputable shop .ps I have a nizpro cooler . please give some info of some that are recommended by people (not after looks just performance )
  10. have a one tonne ba xt ute. fitting a xr 6 turbo engine at the moment ,instead of the gutless 3v v8 (200 rwkw) .I am restricted to use load rated tyres (215 60 16 c) light commercial .have spend hours researching tyres that may fit and give me the traction that I need but am un able to find one to suit .so I thought I might go with a 225 60 16 which has the same load rating as my light truck tyres 102 =850 kilos same as the c rated tyres .just 1.5 % larger in hight .but I think it is still illegal to use due to the c rating (6 ply ) might have to risk it ,the ute is just going to be a pig to drive with about 330 rwkw and 760 nm if I use light truck tyres .light truck tyres are just terrible hard compounds ,which have no grip at all
  11. just puled one of the plugs out to see what they were (ngk 1r fr6ei 11) are these anything special ? or just standard plugs .it has some engine mods ,just the usual .330 rwkw . thanks for any info .ps just bought some online spares australia coils set(osa-2008-b ) are they any good ,payed $120 delivered .
  12. hi just tried to fit a turbo 6 with a btr box into my ba ute but it just will not fit .do I have to lower the crossmember or can I just take the power steering of and the sway bar .what is the easiest ? got told by wreckers that they fit no problem .any info would be great .thanks
  13. hi just tried to fit the line to the turbo side ,but the adaptor kit only screw in about 1 and a half turns into the turbo housing .have I got the wrong adaptor .it is a ba turbo kit ,and it is a ba turbo that I am trying to fit it to .has anyone had the same problem ? going to post pictures tomorrow of the different fittings to make it easier to understand what I am on about
  14. just got my new sump gasket today, going to change it on the weekend .it had no leeks but just wanted to take the sump of to have a look if it has any damage from the crash (bought engine out of a wrecked car ) also what internals it has (rods ) the engine had some work done to it from elite .so what I would like to know do I still use some silicone as well to seal it ,or only the rubber gasket ? also changing the harmonic balancer and water pump before fitting it all back into my ute just to be safe . ps does the harmonic balancer have a reverse thread ,just can not remmember
  15. just wondered if the gasket is necessary at all .only asking due to when I disassembled turbo from manifold there was no gasket .I have purchased a permaseal mls-r turbo gasket kit. is that ok to use or are there better ones ? or just do not fit one at all ?thanks for your help guys
  16. hi just would like some feed back about the turbosmart e boost street ,I have bought one so I can run two boost without having to change tunes from my sct flash while I am driving .I have also found out I got to spend another $160 for a autometre tach adaptor so that I can hook up a shift light and rpm sensor wire to the boost controller .so my question is does the boost controller gain me any benefit at all using my sct flash tuned by elite .I will have to get my ute retuned due to mods I have done to the turbo . just would like to know if it helps them to tune the car as well . thanks for info
  17. can anyone recommend them .just had a talk to them ,and liked what they had to say .but I would like to know if they are as good as they claim they are .I already have a sct flash tune that he would not use at all .he said he would just use my original computer and re program it to suit (apparently better than the sct flash) I can still have two tunes as I have a turbosmart electronic boost controller .so for the street I will have a light tune and for the strip all they can get out of it without the rods letting go . so can I here some comment about the standard computer v sct . ps someone said that they can not adjust the gear change (harder and faster ) on the btr gearbox on a standard computer but on a sct they can (just got the btr rebuild with au parts and pump and solenoids ) thanks for any info
  18. Hey all, Firstly some history. Car is a BA XR6 Turbo auto running 369rwkw with 150,000km on the clock. It's had a post 06/06 short motor for about the last 80,000km but the head is original. The car has had a miss and rough idle for years. There is no miss under load. It runs fine in gear and under acceleration. Over the last couple of weeks the rough idle resonates and vibrates through the car. Steering column, mirrors, seats etc. It wants to stall too. It evens out after 10 minutes of driving or so but is still there. After disconnecting battery, the roughness is a lot better and doesn't want to stall as much but it's still a little rough. A couple of nights ago it developed a ticking noise which seems to be coming from down low. It's a lot louder under the car. Not that noticeable from engine bay. Car still goes fine under throttle - no miss or reluctance to rev. Still making same boost. No fault codes. Flex plate? Rod? Lifter? Timing chain tensioner? Opinons? Cheers, Steph. .
  19. Hey guys, the name is Sam I just stumbled across this forum and thought, what a great place to get advice, I'm don't know too much about cars due to being new to the car scene. I just turned 18 two days ago, I own a 2003 BA xr6, everything is stock currently. I have been driving this xr6 since I first started on my L plates, I know the car fairly well. However I'd like more power. I am starting to look at exhausts and extractors.. Is there any other things I could do to look at some decent power increases? Please include brands that you would recommend. Please no comments like "if you want power get an xr6 turbo" or "just wait for yours full license"... It's my money and I'd like to spend it on what makes me happy Cheers. - Sam PS. attaching a photo of my Baby

  24. Hi Guy's It's been a long time since the days of my first Typhoon! Anyway, got myself a BF turbo last week and started my new project - The audio system. My aim is to do what I did for the VE Late model camira and allow owners to install a double din unit of their choice.
