  1. I’ve seen quite a few threads on swapping a FG into a BA bolting up to the Btr auto. But what would be involved putting a ZF along with the FG in a BA? would it require an FG ecu, pcm, driveline? Cheers
  2. Hi all, Am a full newbie to the fordxr6turbo forum, or any forum for that matter, and just thought I'd share my experience in converting my BA mk2 XT wagon into a turbo/manual/lLSD equipped weapon. Got a bit fed up with how much choice Expensive Daewoo fan's have when it comes to a quick wagon and was always pretty cut about ford never making a BA or BF (or even FG) wagon that had some poke. Massive missed opportunity. Anyway, I got a bit of inspo from looking at other members conversions on this forum where they'd converted their taxi's into turbo WMD's and thought I'd give it a red hot crack. So I got excited one night after a couple of bevvy's and found myself as being the proud owner of a beaten up xr6 turbo ute. 5 months later and I can finally say the conversion is complete and the wagon is running sweet as a nut. Completely stock in every way apart from a cold air snorkel from an FPV typhoon and a Turbosmart BOV and Turbosmart Wastegate Actuator. Have no idea what power it's putting out but it's enough for me at the mo. Am looking to get a tune done at some stage in the future but the bank account won't allow that for a while so I'll just keep it as-is for now. I got some gangstaaaaaaaaa wheels for it too and reckon they set the thing off perfectly. Will post again soon to cover off on the issues I ran into along the way. The reason I joined is to share what I came across during the conversion process cause I ran into heaps of conflicting advice from this forum and others and just thought I'd help clear things up where I could.
  3. Hi, Does anyone know if side skirts from a 2006 BF Falcon XT sedan fit on a 2004 XR6 BA MKII sedan? Thanks in advance, Nick
  4. What’s needed to change rocker cover on an na ba to the fg one? I’m told I’ll have to change either coils to fg ones or use something to keep the coils down from poping off while under load with the stock ba/bf coils and I’ll need to change the manifold? Thanks in advance
  5. BA ICC Unit issue, Stereo dropped out and aircon whilst driving and won't turn on or work when manually try to turn on ICC,blank screen and still no fan or aircon.... Things to check or anything suggested to rectify the problem?
  6. Ok I’ve read page after page after page.... heres where it starts.... bought a ba xr6 turbo Automatic and it came with a x3 flash device that has custom tunes, base 4-5 psi - 8psi - 10psi. Car drives great no weird noises or anything of the like. The problem I’m having is to do with a overboost/limiter issue. This is the 10psi tune. Car accelerates great but once it hits the 10psi mark it either goes to 12psi or it hits 9-10 and it’s like a rev limit and the exhaust makes an almost ‘flame’ sound? And the boost gauge flickers up and down 1psi. Mostly this happens with WOT. Especially does it when just in Drive and going WOT, not so bad in sport mode because I can shift before it gets to the almost misfire stage and goes weird. Most times regardless of in drive or sports mode it’s around 4000rpm. Sometimes though in drive and sports mode it will rev out and hit boost perfectly and have no issues but it’s very short lived and then it’s back to ‘missing’ 2 minutes later. Now when I put it back to stock it hits 5 psi steady as can be at WOT but as it hits 5000-5500rpm it makes the same weird flame limiter noise. Heres what I’ve tried. •New plugs gapped to 7.5 •New boost control solenoid •Clean throttle body •Tighten all hoses that I can access •Run turbo hose straight to wastegate (hits 5-6psi and goes great •Disconnect battery for 10 minutes and then drive WOT New coil packs will be here by the end of the week as there about the last thing I can think of that I can do myself, there still originals and car has done 170,000ks. So if anyone can help me that would be AWESOME! I’ve read so many threads that seem to be my problem and they either never come back with the solution or I’ve tried what they’ve done to no avail.
  7. Hi everyone well I already own a wrecked ba xr6t with all parts perfect except right hand door and dashboard and have a ba xr6 that needs new engine trans rear sub frame now that parts sorted. After I swap my engine rear sub frame and transmission into the standard xr6 can I just swap computers and turn it on or do I have to change all my looms as well ?? Please help
  8. Hi I know the whole 'mail order tune' idea is frowned upon mostly but I'm not looking to gain heaps nor continue to pursue power, but if anyone has a 10psi tune for a stock ba xr6T that that goes on a SCT X3 they could share I'd be really greatful! Thanks guys/girls
  9. Hi all, I have a BA 2002 xr6 ute with 340,000 on the clock. My old mans has 450,000 on the clock and it’s been across the desert 3 times so I’m not too worried on how mine will last but I’ve found an xr6 turbo engine (ba) that comes with exhaust, intercooling piping, intercooler and all the bit and pieces for a reasonable price. The engine has only done 170,000 and the turbo has little to no wear. It also comes with the ECU. My ute has a 5 speed manual which I hear is very weak so I am also looking at the 6speed. I an am aware there are lots of threads about this and I have read them all but most of them are old and price are very different now. They also had donor cars which I do not but I am willing to spend time and money on this car. I do not want to sell mine and buy a turbo because mine isn’t worth anything with the km it has done and a decent one is still up around 6.5 and if I can do this slowly I’ll be happy. so I am just wondering if all I will need is the wiring looms and fuse box. I know I will also have the get the computers cleared and reprogrammed but is that all? Forgot to mention that the motor was an auto. If I could get in contact with someone who has done this before that would be good too.
  10. Hey, I have a BA mk2 turbo and I noticed about a month ago the turbo was fluttering when I drove it hard. The car HAD just the factory diverter valve installed. So I assumed this was on the way out (being a 2004 car) and I bought an atmospheric BOV for the sound and to hopefully stop the fluttering. The BOV is nothing special, just a $40 one off eBay that said it was compatible with my car. I put it on yesterday and no matter how I adjust the spring, under high boost, the turbo will flutter. This is the part that confuses me when I sit at 1700 revs I can hear the BOV is open no matter how stiff or soft the spring is but then I also assume it isn't opening enough when I come off the throttle, pushing air back into the turbo and making it flutter. The flutter only occurs when I floor it. Otherwise the bov will vent correctly. So I was wondering; is the issue something like the bov not being wide enough? did I jump the gun on assuming the turbo flutter was an issue? (I've heard some cars just do it) should I try a different spring and lubricate the piston of the bov? Or just bite the bullet and get a decent one? Any help would be appreciated, cheers
  11. Hi im trying to fit my plazmaman stage 2 intercooler piping kit and CAI kit along with a mishimoto intercooler (same size as plaz one supplied in intercooler kit) for my BA XR6T I was wondering if anyone can help me out with some fitting instructions or point me in the right direction. Cheers
  12. Hey guys, I'm currently looking at the essential mods for my 2004 BA XR6T Sedan prior to a tune, hoping to achieve >300rwkw, so far I'm looking at: -Plazaman Valve Springs -Plazaman Stage 2 intercooler -Siemens 60lb 650cc injectors -Some sort of turbo back exhaust However I'm stuck for the fuel pump upgrade, does know a specific pump that'd suit my needs? Won't be running E85, only 98. I've heard the name walbro thrown around a bit, but I'm unsure of which one I'd need exactly. Cheer in advance.
  13. Hi Guys, As the title states I'm hoping someone on here can answer a few questions about the conversion I'm about to undertake on my BF wagon. I've already purchased a wrecked BF turbo 6speed manual ute from the auctions to donate engine, diff and other bits and pieces into the goon, note I still want to retain the btr not the manual tranny. The main problem I've got is what PCM can I use in the goon? I talked to the tuner I'll be taking it to after the conversion is finished and he told me to use the turbo computer as it obviously has the ability to control the wastegate, and I also noticed 2 relays in the fusebox for controlling thermo's rather than the single relay in the goon. I've emailed someone regarding flashing the ute pcm to hopefully control the btr but apparently can't be done. So I asked if I could use the PCM out of a 6speed auto, which apparently the answer is no as well. Which leads me to thinking I have to use the PCM out of a BA, but from what I understand the BA only uses 1 knock sensor instead of 2 in the BF (possibly other features different as well) So am I better to use the BA PCM, or use the current NA PCM in the goon with aftermarket boost control or something else? If the BA PCM is the way to go will it be able to be succesfully coded to the bf bcm/icc? Hope this all makes sense, just want to get this all sorted before I start pulling the goon apart as its my work car. TIA, Dean
  14. OK so I've had my mk2 BA 6 speed off the road for about 6 months, had to replace a few rear bushes so me and a mate pulled the rear cradle out etc. Anyway it started having pressure problems, as old mate I bought it off had it tuned to 16psi, and it stopped boosting altogether. the pressure problem has been fixed, but now when it starts hitting full boost it feels like a cyclone is pushing me side to side. the car sat for a little too long so it has minor flat spots. Has anyone experienced this before? im thinking tyres are cooked or possibly wheel bearings? everything feels tight under the ass end with the spanners so dont think its got to do with my incompetence reinstalling the cradle. TIA
  15. Hi all, I've got a BA XR6 turbo and according to my mechanic, my ECU seems to have had it. Apparently, a common thing with these units. The particular part number in question is discontinued with Ford and second handers are as rare as hens teeth it seems. This might be a long shot, but just wondering if anyone here has any connections or knows someone who knows someone (We called just about everyone in the country who does spares). ECU code: ABU-214 / 3R23- 2A650-HE Much appreciated!
  16. Hi, I am looking to purchase an 03 N/A BA xr6, -5 speed manual -Black -Pacemaker extractors -Pod Filter -Slotted Rotors -FPV Rims and steering wheel -Herrod front grill -Twin tip exhaust -Is set up to run nos -Flash tuner with 3 tunes, one labelled as C&V Tune - GJA-240 I'm looking to see if anyone has any knowledge on the background of this car or what work has been done. Its too quick to have stock internals but I'm not sure. Thanks!
  17. Was wondering if anyone has any idea what this clicking sound could be? noticed it when my car was idling the other day while I was at a friends. Thanks IMG_0807.MOV
  18. Hey all, I'm new to the forum and would just like a hand on what to look for when buying a ba xr6 turbo. I've had a look at one in particular that's 2004 with 165,000 on the clock and auto. I would just like to know the main pointers on what to look out for. Thanks heaps!
  19. Picked up my car today from Joe at CMS with the above figures. I have installed the following mods to achieve that power: Aftermarket valve springs 460 Walbro in-tank fuel pump 62lb injectors Xcal4 Plazmaman 1000hp intercooler w/ 2.5 inch hot side piping Plazmaman 4inch intake racebox Process West throttle body relocation w/ 3inch cold side piping Plazmaman plumbed back BOV Turbosmart 12psi internal actuator Intune turbo oil feed line and filter Battery relocated to the boot The car has just over 100,000km. I've attached a few pics below.
  20. Have been having issues with my Ba xr6t mkii manual , for a while a whirring sound would come and go slightly between 60-80 km/h (I put it down to just about time for a centre bearing change over. then after about 3-4 weeks of driving to and from work I gave it a little throttle from a standing start and it made a very bad vibration through the car , pedals and gearstick. after that , any hard acceleration of more than 1/2 throttle would make bad vibration and the whirring sound had now become a Humming sound heard and felt above 50km/h. and an all around feeling of "something isn't right" was lingering ....a couple of days after this (about 60-80 kms later) I was driving with barely any acceleration at 60km/h and the whole car broke into vibration with a metal on metal sound present, the car also seemed to now have some resistance under acceleration as if the handbrake had been left on.... Babied the car home about 30km away and every time I would hit an incline and had to give anything more than a touch of acceleration the car would vibrate/drone and hum violently . on the very last hill to my house I honestly didn't think I was going to make it. the last 2kms. when I got home I took it apart and on this video is what I found...... If anyone can point me in the direction of what it might be? and the costs involved / possibly even someone in the northern perth area that can fix it, with quality workmanship? Until I get it fixed im leaving it parked up . im hoping it'll get me to the repair shop without the cost of a tow, though I've been told too much vibration being sent back through the gearbox etc could be very bad? car runs 500+rwhp on 15psi
  21. I own a 2004 ba xr6t with a standard turbo. I have noticed that when my turbo spools under load (generally in 4th or 5th gear) it makes a strange surging noise. The spool does not sound constant like it should. I have no idea what the problem may be. Looking for ideas? Thanks
  22. Hey guys, sorry its been a while. I have been really busy, my battery light has been flickering lately. I know its a bad alternator due to a leaky high pressure steering pipe o-ring. Im about to change the pipe and I went to go get a new alternator sorted out for when the pipe is fitted. My problem is that the part number on on it (3r23-10300-ba) says its for a 2 pin BA alternator , but my alternator is a 3 pin . .... I did some research to find that everywhere says that part number is a ba 2 pin alternator that is 12volt and 110 amp. The only 3 pins are the BF alternators , but they are 130 amps and 12 volts. and a totally different part number. The guy at the autospark shop was confused as I was . My car is a may or june 2005 xr6t ute. im assuming I should get a bf 3 pin as I cant change the wiring loom for the alternator as I know the third pin is read/controlled by the computer, im just hoping the brackets line up . im still a little confused why I would have a bf alternator (being 3 pin) but with a BA part number and only 110 amp instead of the bf 130amp??? Is this possibly some crossover error from the BAmkii to the BF?
  23. Hi all, I currently have an 03 Ba XR6 5sp manual sedan and have plans on doing a turbo motor swap once I am halfway through my green P's (about 2 years a long time I know), I know the troubles of this but I would like to do something unique and as a project for me and my friends. In the meantime I would like to do 'supporting' mods over time. I am planning on getting a cat back exhaust done sometime next week only because she's a bit too quite right now . I have been looking at various other mods such as installing an LSD, sway bars, coilovers, fatter tires etc. Since I have never done anything like this before I didn't want to risk making any mistakes in the purchase of parts hence why I am posting here. LSD: I would like to know if I can fit an lsd unit from a BA XR6T? (obviously manual or will an auto fit as well?)... Suspension mods: For the suspension mods I wanted to push the coilovers a bit as I do not want to splurge out 2 grand for them at this moment. In terms of swaybars I have found some from whiteline: http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=BFK001&sq=4188 Supercheap auto also sells these however this kit seems to have everything I need (I'm not too sure what half of it is). I have also been told that doing the control arms (front and rear) would also help with handling of the car but no clue what I should get. Stores: I have no problem driving a bit to get the right parts. There are some wreckers around me if I need to go and find a wrecked car. Also if you know of any suspension workshops or stores that would do a good install of the parts I listed above for a reasonable price please let me know. As for online shopping I have no problem as long as the site doesn't look sketchy.
  24. Can anyone tell me if a 2004 BA Falcon XR6 Turbo has a single mass flywheel or a dual mass flywheel? I'm replacing the clutch and need to know if I can get the flywheel skimmed or if I need to buy another flywheel (or convert to single mass)! Any help would be appreciated.
  25. Have a pretty stock BA xr6t, has xr8 pod style filter, hi flow cat and 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I bought a flash tuner with a 11 psi tune on it. Is this too much boost for stock internals? If so could I just regulate the boost down to say 8-9psi with a boost controller? If not what PSI should I ask for in a custom tune? Thanks for the help! Chris H.
