  1. Can anyone tell me if a 2004 BA Falcon XR6 Turbo has a single mass flywheel or a dual mass flywheel? I'm replacing the clutch and need to know if I can get the flywheel skimmed or if I need to buy another flywheel (or convert to single mass)! Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Have a pretty stock BA xr6t, has xr8 pod style filter, hi flow cat and 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I bought a flash tuner with a 11 psi tune on it. Is this too much boost for stock internals? If so could I just regulate the boost down to say 8-9psi with a boost controller? If not what PSI should I ask for in a custom tune? Thanks for the help! Chris H.
  3. are ba standard brakes all the same for utes and sedans . just thought the rears may be different ? or are all rear disks the same . just could buy some t2 brand new for a good price (front and back )
  4. have a set of rear sedan springs for $ postage only .or free for pick up std xr 6 height I think (never been on car still wrapped up in original packing ) king springs KFRL-68 also has another number on it SO-119854
  5. ok ,I think I better start a new thread about the next build I am doing to my ute . will I get there is another question , as I am chasing 450 rwkw . so to start of with , I have purchased a FG 2013 turbo engine with all acc. and 6 speed manual gearbox with 5600 klm on the clock . it was a cheap price including freight $5700 I have bought this due to that the BA engine would have been to expensive to rebuild ,and the BTR automatic box would have been at its max power handling . so I have my engine tuner involved to give me a game plan to get it there, Jamie from forced performance in Toowoomba . still waiting on a reply from my e mail . after that I can get him to send me the parts so I can get started with it . I will be doing this in my two car garage with the help from jake (work mate ) he also has a turbo ute but it is a FG with about 320 rwkw . ok I have already a battery side intake with airbox and Kn filter . I have a nizpro cooler (6 years old ) hot side 2 1/2 inch pipes (rapid ) and that is about it as I will have to replace most of the other with new stuff . I will sell my 1000 bosch injectors (5000klm old ) and other bits and pieces . I have phoned direct clutches in Brisbane and there reply was that they have a clutch that will suit me well (about $2000 ) for a twin plate race set up . the turbo set up might be one of JIM Gianna special FG small turbo ,converted to put out 450rwkw on E85 .will have to see what Jamie thinks about it
  6. doing some more mods to the ute , so I would like a better turbo . reliable 360- 370 rwkw that is all I am after . so I would like a fast spool up time . I am getting a stall this time as the 60 foot mark is 2.2 seconds . thinking of 2700-2800 rpm stall for the btr auto box . it will get freshened up again just to be safe ,3 gear not shifting well after 5000 km .going to rebuild the ba engine with some better internals and maybe some new cam shafts (more like the fg ) so what is a good turbo to buy these days
  7. just got of the phone from my tuner ,and he said that my turbosmart actuator is no good .has anyone been in this situation . its only new but they say no mater they are no good at all to use .they believe the reason my ba runs only a 2.2 60"is that the wastgate opens up under low revs ,and high revs . they also said that they would take the car up to about 400 hp (currently 381 hp )
  8. G'day, Can anyone provide me with a step by step for removing the stock turbo and installing a GTX3582R, with reference to changing oil lines and necessary mods that need to be made in the upgrade? Can you simply replace the stock turbo with a GTX3582R? Cheers
  9. I've got a ba xr6 turbo and aiming for 700rwhp+, so far engine is down to bare block and have had head work done. Pretty much wanting to know what engine parts are good and what to use, what brands, parts etc. Wanting to run a high mount turbo manifold, what turbo would be a good size, gt42 etc? Engine will most likely run a built 2 speed powerglide behind it. Will be run on e85 so what fuel system will be good to support it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. what is a realistic price for a rebuild on a ba engine to handle 400 plus rwkw . new rods- pistons -reco head- valve springs - timing chain - head bolts etc . build by a professional shop . is $6500 a realistic price or is it to cheap ?
  11. when the engine is warm it sounds like there are marbles in the engine (can feel on top of rocker cover the chain hit ) can I change the chain without having to remove the timing chain cover ,so I do not have to remove the harmonic balancer ? also want to replace the guides and chain hydraulic adjuster .going to also change the valve springs at the same time

  13. starting to get some info on my latest project for my ba one tone ute . I would like to build a engine set up with about 500-600 rwkw and a new gearbox to hold up to it (only got a BTR 4 speed ) I would rather have the turbo 400 over the 2 speed glide .what is involved and what is the better option for street use .do not lough at this but I still want this car to trailer my camper trailer lol .and most of all powerplay and powercruise and the drags and club runs . why and what gearbox would you rather use if it was your ute thanks
  14. Hey all, Firstly some history. Car is a BA XR6 Turbo auto running 369rwkw with 150,000km on the clock. It's had a post 06/06 short motor for about the last 80,000km but the head is original. The car has had a miss and rough idle for years. There is no miss under load. It runs fine in gear and under acceleration. Over the last couple of weeks the rough idle resonates and vibrates through the car. Steering column, mirrors, seats etc. It wants to stall too. It evens out after 10 minutes of driving or so but is still there. After disconnecting battery, the roughness is a lot better and doesn't want to stall as much but it's still a little rough. A couple of nights ago it developed a ticking noise which seems to be coming from down low. It's a lot louder under the car. Not that noticeable from engine bay. Car still goes fine under throttle - no miss or reluctance to rev. Still making same boost. No fault codes. Flex plate? Rod? Lifter? Timing chain tensioner? Opinons? Cheers, Steph. .

I would love to see more interest in people to go for weekend drives or even to get together with members of the ford xr 6 turbo forum . I know petrol is expensive but that's why I go to work to pay for it . how about we get together and organise some fun cruises or even organise a day at qld race way to get together . who would be interested to do something like that . we have enough people on this forum to do that . even just munchies in brisbane area . come on guys and girls lets get of the computers and do something fun ,we all love driving our cars . give us some comments what you would be interested in . how about a BBQ fist up ?

  17. hi has anyone else had this problem . I have just fitted new cooper gaskets to my turbo banjos and they are now leaking radiator fluid ,just enough to be annoying . I did sand the cooper gaskets with wet and dry on some glass ,to get rid of any marks in the cooper . but now both banjos are weeping fluid . are there any other connecters available to fit instead of these banjo ones ? might have to make a trip to PIRTEK and see what they have . thanks for any help

Hi, So I bought my BA XR6t ute about 2-3 months ago and the guy I bought it off also threw in a SCT x3 flash tuner, he sold the car to me stock and I haven't really thought about re-tuning it until now. It came with a 98 octane 10psi tune and a Towlers tune (the shop I'm pretty sure). I've had someone say that you HAVE to replace the injectors before you tune it but no one else has mentioned this to me. I noticed that places like KPM motorsport etc sell performance packages with just the tune and the flash tuner. No injectors, so this leads me to believe that replacing the injectors isn't necessary to a point. Anyone tuned their car with the flash tuner? Anyone know if you NEED to replace injectors? yeah, not to sure. cheers
  19. thought I had a small oil leak from my turbo return line ,but just found that the turbosmart solenoid has oil coming out of it . have a turbosmart street electronic boost controller fitted to the car . could it be that my recently rebuild turbo is using oil ? there is not a lot of oil there but it would add up to a big stain if I would use the car as a daily driver (oil on floor of garage would add up to about a cap full of oil) and the rest is on the car engine bay and wheel well . and that is after about 600 klm have also noticed that the steel lines that go to the turbo from the water cooling are weeping .I have just fitted all new copper washers and also used some aviation sealant but they are still not sealing completely (ps I did sand the grooves flat with some wet and dry paper on glass ) thanks for any help
  20. getting for the rear some achilles 123 semi slick of garage one for $320 delivered to my door .used to run them on a hyunday exel at lake side ,and they were ok for traction .I am only going to use them at power cruise and the drags at willowbank on september the 11th. has anyone had them on there ute or car ?and what did they go like with the power of the xr6 turbo . was going to use et streets but at $570 delivered . or the nt 555r for $ 650 delivered ,I thought the achilles 123 are a cheap option . also are the territory steel wheels to heavy to use ?

My original idea was to have 2 10" subs behind each seat with the amp in the middle but that soon changed when I went to bunnings and they told me they were unable to cut the big sheet of MDF for me, so ended up getting the smaller sheet which was half the size but only $5 cheaper, I got home and re did my box design for a single 10" in the middle of the seats and the amp sitting behind drivers seat and fabbed it up that night. The Amplifier I'm using is a Fusion EN-3004 and the Sub is Sony Xplod XS-L1035. The next day I went to Jaycar and got everything for the wiring, - 5m 8G Power wire - High Low converter - Fuse Holder - 10m Roll 7.5A Power cable Power wiring for the amp is as follows: Positive is run directly from the battery with its fuse just behind the fuse box then run through the clutch cable grommet in the fire wall down under the kick panel and up to the rear speaker then into the Amplifier. Ground is run to the same grounding point as the rear window de-mister. Remote is wired to the cigarette lighter. The High Low converter converts the speaker signal back into a RCA connection making it possible to plug into the amp, it was fairly simple to wire up, Just make sure all your polarities are correct otherwise you will run into problems. I haven't had any problems with it yet at all, apart from the neighbours telling me to turn it off
  22. got a price of mall wood this morning ,and got a bitt of a shock of the price of it ($2300) not delivered .so then I phoned farrows at nambour (45 min away ) for a custom made shaft with heavy duty steel and universals for $2000 . I then called in on a way to a job and had a bit of a talk to him (had a vh 308 tailshaft done there 15 years ago ) he said that he could use the old turbo sedan tailshaft and use some of the v8 ute tailshaft and make it fit that way .maybe about $1400 to do it ,he would get rid of the rubber parts on the front of the shaft and fit bigger universals to suit .he would also get rid of the back rubber mount as well .the rubber parts are not able to with stand 450 hp to well . just keep in mind that I can only legally use 215 60 16 tyres to my one tonne rated ute .but on the drag strip I will run et street tyres .is mall woods shaft a bitt overboard to use ? its just that I have no money left to spend (over budget ) .still have to get a tune and some electrical sorted out by redcliffe dyno .thanks for any comments

  24. have a one tonne ba xt ute. fitting a xr 6 turbo engine at the moment ,instead of the gutless 3v v8 (200 rwkw) .I am restricted to use load rated tyres (215 60 16 c) light commercial .have spend hours researching tyres that may fit and give me the traction that I need but am un able to find one to suit .so I thought I might go with a 225 60 16 which has the same load rating as my light truck tyres 102 =850 kilos same as the c rated tyres .just 1.5 % larger in hight .but I think it is still illegal to use due to the c rating (6 ply ) might have to risk it ,the ute is just going to be a pig to drive with about 330 rwkw and 760 nm if I use light truck tyres .light truck tyres are just terrible hard compounds ,which have no grip at all
  25. just wondered if the 13 mm smaller in hight might play up with the abs sensors .I am currently running 215 60 16 ,but when I go to powercruise or the drags I would like to fit 245 50 16 to the rear for traction ( semi slick ) would a 7 inch rim be wide enough for them would like to get another two to match the rest of the ute (7 inches wide ),so it looks like a sleeper . [/url thanks for any help ,would love some feed back on tyres you recommend instead of the nitto semi slicks . I have about 284 rwkw and 868 nm .also running a truetrack 3.9 diff and standard stall ,and a btr with au internals and pump
