  1. Thanks for the reply mate. Decided I will just leave the existing mods and go for a tune and just enjoy it as is until something gives out.
  2. Hey Guys, Wanting some of your insights on what you think I should do in terms of build. The car is a bit of a mix n match it started life as a NA, then was swapped to a BA turbo engine, but the box Is still a T5 which I dont really have confidence in, new clutch recently went in (Exedy Stock). I am prepping for tune and considering going E85 but wondering whether my drive train will sh*t the bed if I try make any decent power. Below is the existing supporting mods: Valve springs 255 walbro 60 ib Injectors 4 inch dump and full exhuast FG turbo 3576 (Car currently has a tune) I have already broken transmission coupling shortly after getting the car back from new clutch and valve springs which was replaced with a Kelpro coupling (no dramas since) I'm torn as to whether I throw a set of 1000cc Injectors and walbro 460 at it and try make as much as I can on E85 or just keep the existing set up and get a retune on 98. I'd really like to go e85 and try for 350 wheel but I'm concerned about my drivetrain. What do you guys think?
  3. Cheers mate, will give it some thought on which way I want to go. I want to replace the oil pump gears so might do it then as it would make sense to do new chain/guides when replacing the oil pump gears. Cheers for the help gents appreciate it.
  4. Thanks @JETURBO, I wound it over some more (11 rotations) and it finally lined up. Was very happy haha So you don't reckon it is worth bothering to change the guide? The photo you guys post makes me think my engine has hard a really hard life before I got it with poor maintenance. all the staining in the head and on the cams is pretty bad.
  5. Thanks K31th appreciate the response. When you say rotation do you mean a full rotation of the balancer or a full rotation of the Chain (I.e. yellow links make full rotation around)?
  6. Wound over further and still can't get links to line up
  7. Hi Guys, Need some help with a timing question. For a bit of background on this, I was going through the process of swapping out my rocker cover and during this time I noticed that my timing chain guide (tensioner side) was broken. I did some reading on the forum and seen an older post that mentioned that this is common if the engine has jumped a tooth, which can then cause the guide to fail. Below is some pictures of the chain guide I took the plugs out and wound the engine over so the timing marks lined up, though my orange links in the chain dont match up to the marks on the cams. I wound the engine over again just before taking the below pic, however on the previous rotation the orange links were slightly to the left, just before the cam marks. Is this in time? I seen another post that mentioned if their is 8 links between each mark on the cam (including the one above it) this is timed correctly. Regards, Adam
  8. Bought a set of genuine coils and fitted today. Weird today though before I changed the coils car was running normal and boosting fine. After pulling the coils out one had light bubbling, seems like it cooked.
  9. Oh just meant to test to see if it s my coils that is playing up.
  10. Just took the front bar off and inspected the intercooler piping. Some were loose though I dont think it would cause a splutter like this. It could be, I don't think these were brand new (bosch coils) as he used these as his test set if some cars were having issues to diagnose coils. Do fg coils fit on ba? I could try my friends fg coils though when working his car other day it didnt look the same as they are bolted down
  11. Hey guys, Been reading a few forum posts of members that had posted previously but thought id just post. Yesterday my car started playing up. On heavy acceleration the car starts to break up on boost. I have played around with slowly letting it on boost but it just eventually falls flat. On my boost gauge this seems to happen after about 5psi. I put fresh tank of fuel in last night as thought maybe fuel surge as was on 1/4 when this started but didnt help. Put fresh set of plugs in today and gapped them to 0.75mm however didnt help either. Checked all my injector clips everything was fine. Fuel filter is new (changed about a month ago) Fuel pressure regulator is new Possibly coils though my tuner put a set Bosch coils in about 10 months ago. I think it could be one of these 3 things - dodgy actuator, it is oem and I have a turbo smart ready to go in - my walbro 255 is on its way out. Would this get worse on load? - Coilpacks I have checked my piping everything seems nice and tight. Will pull the front bar off tomrrow and make sure nothing is loose on intercooler. What do you guys think?
