  1. It would be a 2008 typhoon, I had a chat with him last night and he said either buy a mint engine / manual trans and when he comes over next year he will help me put it in my current ute, or he said he wouldn’t recommend getting a typhoon as he only picked his up because he got it cheap off a friend and just get a 2008 fg 6 speed manual sedan as he would have no trouble importing it, would set me back about 28k to get a pretty mint cond fg he reckons, is he in the ballpark?
  2. Sounds good mate, good luck with your build, my brother has owned a typhoon sedan for years in aussie which is what tempted me to get a barra in the first place, but he forgot to tell me that 240t's are quite alot of work to get to the power level I am wanting, he did however say his friend who does casual imports to nz can get me a manual typhoon sedan for around 32k nz, is that a decent price? I am highly considering it hahaha, but if I do end up keeping what I have, I am auckland based but have a few friends who said they would be happy to pull apart the engine with me and get some more sturdy rods in it, they seem to know quite alot about fords as they own multiple, also have access to a quite decent workshop, just not anywhere to get a decent tune, firstly I need to find somewhere to get some forged rods at a decent price if you guys have any suggestions? hopefully all goes well and I wont have to pay for labour at all apart from beers for the boys haha, SHOULD I PULL APART THE ENGINE OR JUST BE LAZY AND BUY A TYPHOON
  3. that's a shame, to be fair iv been looking for a reason to sell it and find a manual instead lol, the newer utes are just quite rare in new zealand, and if you do find one they are always 40k+, im 21 yrs old and honestly cant afford that sh*t haha
  4. So what you are saying is to upgrade the rods I have to fully rebuild the engine? I was told I could get them forged and it would be fine? Guess not? EDIT: I AM NOT GOING TO PRETEND THAT I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS I JUST KNOW THE NAME OF A FEW MODS AND THE GENERAL IDEA OF HOW A MOTOR WORKS HAHAHA
  5. yeah obviously not with only what I listed there, it would be cool if you guys could list me off some things that will add some power, cheers
  6. Hey guys, new around here obviously, I purchased my ute around 4 months ago, lost my license for 3 months about 1 and a half months into owning it haha, still have a bit of time where I wont be driving the car and I feel it would be the perfect time to mod the f*** out of it, then get a tune right before I get my license back :), I have around 7k I would like to throw at this thing, I have been told various things from friends who have owned them in the past, but the main one I hear is 100% get a cold air intake / bigger intercooler asap, I am looking for around 400rwkw+ out of this thing, would it be necessary to do the valve springs etc aiming for that power? I know I will definitely need a bigger fuel pump and possibly turbo, as the title states I am entirely open to suggestions and would love your guys feedback! WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST?!
