  1. I'm in the market for an SCT X4 Flash Tuner + Bosch 1000cc Injectors (Supplied + Fitted) + Custom Tune. I've been quoted $2600 by Graham West Workshops and $2575 by Morpowa in Adelaide. What are your thoughts on this?
  2. I would happily pay $30k for a V36 Skyline Sedan 350GT with a Barra 270T supplied and fitted What a weapon that would be! Reality called, and reeled me back in...
  3. Hey SSBB you make a very good point. My V36 Skyline 350GT is pretty much immaculate, it's currently running on 9" front / 9.75" rear 20's with Achilles ATR Sport 2 235/35/20 tires and it has Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Adjustable Coilover Suspension fitted. The engine + gearbox combo (type SP with tiptronic / paddle shift sports auto) is bloody quick and the most responsive combo I've driven to date (and I've owned 14 cars so far). You're right btw, my V36 Skyline sits and handles beautifully with zero body roll, and it's tight! So yes, it out handles it's performance (as great as the stock 235kW engine is). Approx 185-195 rwkw stock. Also I just clocked over to 70,000 kms (1 previous owner) so the car still feels super fresh
  4. Thank you I'll definitely look into Shockworks coilovers!
  5. Good question, kms will be approx 80,000 - 130,000... as mentioned before a few times by other member's "suspension" is what I should be looking at first. Can you please provide some suggestions (eg: parts, workshops, pricing) on what I should be looking at... and what the 'real world' difference is that I will notice from this upgrade - opposed to spending approx $2k on tuning...
  6. Bizkits, your MS Paint skills are next level hehe, now I know which cars to look out for
  7. I will do - I've got one of the best import blogs on the net - so making a pics / progress thread shouldn't be an issue for me If you're interested have a read @ www.v35skyline.com it's a blog about my current V36 Skyline (and previous V35 Skyline) and the process of importing from Japan to Australia. If you've never done it, or don't know about the process, I've posted a plethora of useful information - hopefully it can benefit some members here (regardless of the ADM based forum).
  8. Thanks for all the welcoming and supportive feedback from the multiple forum members who've posted today and yesterday and response to my original post Definitely seems like a good group of people here, and better than other some car enthusiast forums I've been a member of in the past! I honestly thought that sourcing the parts myself through research on 'best price' and 'bang for buck' value was the way to go... but this car (the FG XR6 Turbo) will be different to my previous cars... the SCT X4 Flasher Tuner is available and does wonders... that's the consensus that I've read and am clearly aware of now... but there's more to this... this is not a JDM import like what I've previously owned in the past... It's ADM which means there's plenty of local support (from workshops... and members) so you're right when you say - find a workshop you like and purchase the parts through them, and at the same time get a dyno run + tune done. I will do this - I've got 4 workshops to choose from and I'm looking for the best... once I purchase the FG XR6 Turbo I'll call them all and find out who's going to work with me to achieve the results I'm looking for (and within my budget). I'd love to come along on an XR6 Turbo cruise in the future and I may just take you up on that offer... definitely want to meet fellow enthusiasts and gain first hand knowledge Thanks once again for all the positive / constructive feedback.
  9. Thanks Bizkets I've sent him an email now.
  10. Thanks for the advice TKW. Now I just need to find a reliable and affordable workshop to tune an FG XR6 Turbo. I only know of Heinrich Performance, Morpowa and KPM Motorsport... Not sure who's the best out of those 3 in Adelaide...
  11. I've spent some time this morning researching online and reading forum posts and what I've found what I think are the best bang for buck upgrades for an FG XR6 Turbo for under $2k... Initially, I'm considering purchasing the following: SASS Oil Temp Gauge 52mm Black $45SASS Boost Gauge 52mm Black $59SAAS FG Gauge Pod Holder $120SS Inductions Big Mouth Cold Air Induction $110Walbro 255 LH Intank Fuel Pump $1496x Bosch 57 lb Fuel Injectors FG XR6 Turbo $495SCT Flash Tuner X4 (FG 270T Engine + ZF Transmission Tune) $945Other useful mods I found include include: FG XR6 Turbo Intercooler Piping Kit $240FG XR6 Turbo 3.5" X-Force Mild Steel Catback Exhaust $549Also some very useful information regarding estimated stock vs upgraded flywheel / rwkw performance gains (Stages 1-3 Upgrade Packages) Ford FG XR6 Turbo Tuning - Nizpro TurbochargingFord FG XR6 Turbo Tuning - Autotech EngineeringFord FG XR6 Turbo Tuning - TunehouseWhat are your thoughts on all of this? Any changes you would recommend? My budget for mods is $2k...
  12. Thanks for the great feedback guys. My V36 Skyline 350GT (235kW) is currently the most powerful car I've driven, and it's incredibly linear and very responsive (both engine and gearbox with paddle shift). It's approx 190 rwkw. What kind of stock rwkw power would I be looking at in an FG MK1 XR6 Turbo? I'll definitely be purchasing a ZF 6 Speed Auto as I've heard these are excellent gearboxes... especially mated to the Barra 270T. Baby turbo is exactly what I'm after, quick to spool, plenty of low / mid range torque and I'm very happy that 270kW are achieved with such low boost levels from the factory - which provides easy scope to upgrade down the track. Is the non 8" touch screen (the one's in the FG MK1) rubbish? All I can tell from photos on carsales is that the display looks very basic... what are your thoughts on this? (those who currently have these screens equipped in your car). I'm also looking for a good factory sound system and I definitely want Bluetooth music streaming. Are there any 2008-2010 XR6 Turbo models that have this equipped as an option? I've only seen it 'standard' on 2011+ models... Once I've sold my Skyline and found my new FG XR6 Turbo... My budget is approx $2k for mods. What should the priority be? ...and where to purchase from \ which workshop to go to in Adelaide? Thank you in advance!
  13. Hey all, Just joined, and currently contemplating whether I should join the dark side and purchase a 2009-2001 Ford FG XR6 Turbo or stick with the tried and tested JDM imports I'm accustomed to (privately import 2001-2002 Toyota JZX110 Mark II). For years I've been aware of the XR6 Turbo's being a good all-rounder... but I never considered purchasing one myself, let alone investing the time to research about them. I've owned quite a few Japanese cars (some of which I've imported) and am used to N/A 4's and 6's and Turbo 4's. I've never owned (or driven) and Turbo I6, but my friend owns an FG XR6 Turbo and that's where the idea popped into my mind once he'd taken me for a spin a few times in his recently new car. The FG's look great (for a Falcon), the interior is spacious and comfortable, the power is incredible, and they're affordable to purchase, service, insure and most importantly they're safe (I've read they're the first Australian built car with a 5 Star ANCAP safety rating). The JZX110 Mark II on the other hand has the legendary 1JZ-GTE 2.5L I6 Turbo engine that I love, which sounds brilliant and has plenty of aftermarket goodies available... I also love the rarity and styling of the Mark II, in addition to it's Japanese character... So yeah... I'm currently experiencing an internal battle of JDM vs ADM... and an approx $12k car with approx 220kW vs a $20k car with 270kW. Both of which are easy to modify for more power, and improved handling. What I'm currently driving is a 2007 V36 Skyline 350GT Type SP 50th Anniversary Edition (which I imported earlier this year) - It's an absolutely incredible car (and the best car I've owned to date and probably will for years) but the turbo bug has bitten me, and I want to get back into a forced induction car once I've sold my V36 Skyline. Here's my current ride (if you're interested in it, you can read the story behind importing it on my blog @ www.v35skyline.com) So... what do you think I should do? Do I go an XR6 Turbo? and if so... what do I need to know in advance? I'm been specifically looking at 2009-2011 FG XR6 Turbo's (preferably with the colour 8" screen and bluetooth option)...
