  1. The aircon is ice cold. It is walking out to the car that is the issue.
  2. Lol I'd go for a drive today but it's already hot af.
  3. Not necessarily. It's just a carbon/oil buildup. Have a look at the gas motor valve that na_turbo posted a while back. It's the same sh*t that gets stuck between ringlands when a car is driven too gently. You see the same thing on old mowers and especially 2 stroke motors, as the oil in the fuel gums up after a while. A few tanks of e85 will clean it out and then back to 98
  4. Haha nope nothing like that here I don't think it will be low. I think the rings may have been stuck as it wasn't getting into boost until 4000 plus rpm before and had been sitting for a while apparently. I chucked 5 litres of e85 into 3/4 of a tank to help clean stuff out and it was after then that the comp test, albeit a hot one, came back fine. I'll test it again when it's not a billion degrees outside. Lol there was a weird tapping noise but it was the crossover pipe vibrating on the coil cover. Sorted that out pretty quick though.
  5. I was planning to get that done shortly. I double checked the comp test the day before yesterday when I first did it, and on the very poor cylinder I actually triple checked it, including removing the tool and making sure it was sealed properly etc. I put it back together and did another comp test yesterday evening on a warm motor. The reason I did this was because it has no blow by, it's not missing and went well enough considering the lack of pre load. I bent the bracket out yesterday and picked up about 2000rpm spool. Anyhow on the warm comp test everything came up no lower than 200psi and no higher than 210psi. Given that, I've spoken to the dealer and let them know that I don't need the money. They still offered me some money for a a couple of service items that were missed, so that's good of them.
  6. Yeah jet apart from the compression issue there isn't a heap wrong with it and you're right about the end result. While it is a bit more effort on my part it will be a rebuilt and fully serviced vehicle which is hard to come by. They have given me enough for the entire rebuild including fluids so it's not all bad. They still get paid, I do some work and get a great car for the price. That's life and the cup is half full on this one. Plus the missus gimme the green light for a couple of bits so it won't break in the future. Pity it's so farken hot lol.
  7. Lol that's what I mean. Nah gotta save some money to fix the falcon later in the year. Maybe a cheap set of rods, head studs, valve springs and oil pump gears but that's it. I already have that stuff here except the rods.
  8. Cheers mate. You know how these things snowball. I wanted the falcon to get all the good bits but I'll just take it as it comes.
  9. Yes and no. I always did manual labour before I looked after the kids so I was used to working long, hard and hot hours. Two or three long days won't kill me but I'll be glad when it's done. I've got a extremely talented mechanic mate (who also works at a machine shop) with a workshop and hoist etc at his house, so if I'm in need of a hand I can always ask. I've got all the tools (minus machine shop stuff) here at my house for engine building as well. Haha plus side is that there is heaps more ground clearance which means my fat arse can fit under the vehicle.
  10. Enough for a stock rebuild. It's just another 2 or 3 days stuffing around so it's not the end of the world. I'm not ecstatic about it but sometimes you just gotta suck it up and move on with your life hey.
  11. Well I'm keeping the car and they are giving me some cash to fix it myself. At least I know it'll be done the way I want it plus I can use a few bit's I've collected along the way. Just one of those things ay. Meh.
  12. Yeah I'm kinda annoyed but it is what it is. Sucks more for the dealer though cos now they have to do something with it.
  13. No choice mate. I've already got one car with a broken motor, I don't want another. Lucky I got into it today otherwise I could have been up for 2 built motors!
  14. Ghey. Got up nice and early to check out the actuator situation today. Farker had negative preload lol. It was open about 1mm. Nevermind though cos I've got a 12psi adjustable one and injectors etc etc. If not I spose I could have bent the bracket out a bit. Figure today would just be actuator, gap the plugs, injectors, wideband and tune. Plugs first cos why not. The car had a 150,000km service record but the plugs weren't done. Figure I may as well give it a comp test before I go to town cos #healthcheck Here are the comp numbers. Needless to say I didn't fit any parts or tune it, although I did waste some tuning credits to read the tune and compare it to the log. Called the dealer and said I'm returning it under the 2 day cooling off clause. Ironically the stuffed wg preload is probably what kept it alive...
  15. Lol you still good mate? 8 minutes to go bro!
  16. I actually pulled the stock tune to help diagnose the lag. In the stock tune it calls for a peak of 7.8psi at 2500rpm and it gradually falls to 5.4 to 4.4psi by 5500rpm. The car would have been extremely close to the overboost threshold in warm weather and a cold night probably had it driving like a bag of sh*t when you got on it. The car yard picked it up just after last winter so it kinda makes sense. Here is a pic of the desired boost map, cos we all like pics. Convert the numbers from inhg to psi.
  17. I'd rather do it myself cos it's an hour drive each way and then I have to wait for it to be done. Also it won't be done while I wait so that's 4 hours of driving. I can do it quicker with less stuffing around. I might just install the stock one first so I don't have to do the injectors or tune it plus there won't be any warranty issues with that.
  18. It still made nearly 7 up top after a 123 but nothing much down low. Rolling on in the mid would only make 4psi. I found that with a stock wg hole you can still make plenty of boost even if the wg is wide open. I only gave it a brief hit on the test drive and obviously it kicked down and made some boost. If I had been able to load it up I probably would have noticed it. Not the end of the world
  19. It appears my wg diaphragm is cactus. Oh well, I've got a spare stock one and also a 11.8psi one so it looks like I'm spinning spanners tomorrow. Needless to say the injectors will have to be swapped if I put the bigger one in. I couldn't really tell on the test drive cos it's 50 zones galore. Yay
  20. I plan to put some of it on but I don't think I'll put the bigger turbo on it though.
  21. Not after this morning I don't
  22. Lol I won't be spending anything on it for a while.
