  4. hey guys just thought id update on the hideous manifold to turbo studs.Anyway today I decided to try and sort the missing mani/turbo studs issue I had.After alot of research on forums trying to find how to get that last lower right side stud in (youll know what im talking about) most people said the turbo had to be removed or the actuator bracket (which looks rather difficult with turbo on car) to refit the studs.Anyway after about an hour starring at my turbo today I had a brain fart.This troublesome stud can be easily removed/refitted/tightened without removing anything except the heatshields and turbo piping.So what I did is I acessed it from the drivers side above the engine, I used 2 of the small standard socket extensions stuck together with the 14mm socket on the end.I dabbed the stud in grease to help hold it in the socket.You can just slip the setup in just below the turbo although a tight squeeze as the strut tower is in the way.Then you must attach the wrench whilst the socket and extensions are in place on the stud bolt that you have just done up finger tight using just the extensions.Hope this makes sense to someone who has the same problem. cheers

Hey guys, how are ya? couple more questions for ya....In my last post I was talking about missing mani/turbo bolts.Im gunna bite the bullet and remove turbo so I can refit missing studs properly,possibly even brand new studs.Question I have does anyone know what gaskets I have to replace? ie oil return line? manifold gasket? dump pipe gasket? or can I just reuse the old ones? its just I wanna make sure I have ordered all the parts I need before I begin as I cant afford to have this car off the road more than a day, cheers fellas
  6. cheers for the replys guys, I found an old thread on here that mentions that maybe the actuator can be loosened and moved aside slightly but not too hopeful on that one but il let ya know when I have a crack at it.Those stage 8 fastners look pretty sweet! but for now im poor so some good old locktite will have to do.

Hi guys after doing lots of reading from this site I decided to put the earls inline filter on my ba xr6t.Whilst doing that I also checked my turbo to mani bolts as I read that a few here had loose/missing bolts.Anyway I guess I got kinda lucky out of the four bolts holding turbo to mani I had one missing and one barely hanging on by a thread.The lucky part was the missing stud and nut were stuck in the road grease/oil on top of the crossmember so I didnt have to find a replacement.I put the fully missing stud back in all good but the one that was loose just fell out when I touched it (right beside the turbo actuator).My question is how the hell do I get this stud back in? I have tried from the top and bottom of car but its in such a pig of a spot.Do I have to remove the whole turbo to do this or is there some little trick im missing? All my dump pipe bolts werenice and tight though.Also I dont suppose I can do any damage driving like this in the mean time? since it now has 3 out of 4 tight bolts rather than 2 tight 1 loose and one missing lol.I didnt notice any leaks either or lack of performance? not that I have been in another xr6t to compare
