I know this sound very well, I have the same sound coming from my engine. Mines a BA standard valve springs, I was wondering what the chances are of having a bent valve rather than a bent rod, could the bent valve be stuck open with the piston tapping it every cycle? I guess im going to comp test it and see if its top or bottom, Im over the guessing game.

The good old Response amps, my mate is a audio fitter and dealer and he deals in these products and from what ive heard out of his car tells me there not bad. I just bought a response amp from another mate who just closed down a Jaycar stockist electronics store, I think its a 100wpc 4channel, plain looking but the quality is beyond the pretty case. -

I have to change mine, its broken in the handle end cause its a crappy plastic lever but the spare part is modified with some metal piece instead. The Ford guy said to pull out the grill and piece of scuttle over the radiator, remove the inner guard enough to move you hands around, I think he said to tie the new one to the old one to pull it through. If I get a chance on the weekend ill do it and post a how to do here. -

Yeah, that happens! It sounds like it drops 2 cyl. It used to happen on choke.
