  1. Really good weather except one little spot just before Hotham so we decided to go Plan B route
  2. Great you got home okay mate Beautiful morning after light rain last night. Some snow predicted this morning so will see how we go
  3. Sooo good to relax with a port night cap ... 😆
  4. Slightly windy today but I think for our direction roughly heading westwards hopefully means most of the rainfall will be behind us Going to give one of Rab's Insta360 cameras in-car today. Good thing will be wearing trousers in-car, wouldn't want anything to pop out inadvertently during the twisties Just took a peak outside again and I see blue skies
  5. Hear birds chirping - rise and shine! Let's just say it took me a long time to do things last night like setting up the WiFi and saving stuff off my microSD cards But unfortunately discovered that my main GoPro was taking snapshots and not vids so I have 27GB of photos on it ... (I've sorted that out hopefully for today )
  6. This cruise is ON Just heading out now and will see the VICs at BP Wallan and others in Tumut later today. Safe journeys everybody
  7. Okay sorry to hear, hope she recovers well. Civilian let me know he can't make it due to other commitments now, but would like us to post up pics and stuff often! Just a reminder to bring a spare set of keys ... I remember one year we waited several hours stop Mt Buller for RACV (who incidently unlocked the car in less than 50 sec )
  8. We may have to double back on Monday as it looks like snow Mt Hotham and road past Falls Creek closed due to landslide. Guess will have to check Monday morning if we have to do that or not.
  9. Spoke with Khancoban tourist information office today and the roads are still open but they're expecting some snow (I'd believe it - feels like Winter in Melbourne tonight). However, temperatures are relatively high towards end of week so the snow will probably melt away. The lake there is not flooded and as far as she knew, the BBQs were still working. LOL don't leave your drone battery in your drone for 3 years untouched ... flat as a tack and refuses to charge up - so down the drain one expensive Li-Po Mavic Air battery
  10. Looks like Friday and Saturday (the main day) the weather is mostly going to be good. It's Sunday when it's going to bucket down and still raining on Monday. But no snow. The roads still look clear on our intended route on https://www.livetraffic.com/ Please bring some spare cash for BBQ lunch at Khancoban on Saturday, I was planning on doing like what we have done in the past, just buy the meats (hope that fantastic country butcher is still there and open) and drinks at Tumut and divy up the cost amongst us evenly. I have some port *cough* truth serum *cough* for one of the nights if we can find a slot together, probably Saturday night at Jindy or if we are all still together in Omeo (as its pretty quiet in Omeo on a Sunday ...) Here's current cruise list as far as I am aware of it, let me know if there are some late comers please (never to late to join, even part of the way)? Cruise list 1. EvilDaifu VIC 2. k31th VIC +1 Kelli in i30 N-line VIC 3. El Andrew ACT 4. Rab VIC 5. YLD127 ACT 6. civillian ACT
  11. Anyone got a pic or description where the front one is? Thanks.
  12. Would anyone know where are the tow points on a sedan for front and rear towing (if you don't have a tow bar)? I'm currently checking on Internet and this was one thread that came up ...
  13. There's a pic of a horse on the page as the pics of what's on the menu but I'm okay for burgers
  14. VICs meet at BP Wallan 8am this Friday. Lunch usual Red Rooster Wodonga then arrive in Tumut around 4pm or so (taking into account photo opps). For others, please sort out how you will meet up amongst yourselves and hopefully aim to be in Tumut on Friday around 5pm for photo opp of us all together before dinner at Oriental Hotel. Probably do the old train station again as the river one had bad light from memory and might be a bit flooded right now ... There used to be a coin wash up the road from Oriental if you wanted to clean up before the photo opp (your car that is ). From memory Shell just before Tumut has 98 RON. There's another place in town for 98 RON that's a bit less expensive Mobil on the way out of Tumut. I'll send out private contact list little later on closer to this Friday to help us co-ordinate. Anyone else interested, please post up. You don't need to stay at same motels as us, there should be plenty of other options.
  15. I haven't rung yet but checking NSW live road conditions website today shows out route open to traffic currently. I guess the warmer weather lately has helped melt away some snow!
  16. I'll ring Tumut tourist info bureau to find out real road conditions and if the road we usually take to Jindy is going to re-open soon.
  17. Just checked from a bit past Talbingo to Khancoban is snowed under and road closed since 1 November. Hopefully it melts away and they re-open that stretch in time for our cruise! Alternative I'm thinking is via Adaminby. Thank goodness Jindy to Khancoban is still open The road to Omeo is currently clear and same Omeo to Hotham as well for now. I heard there may be some snow atop Hotham though!
  18. Falls Creek has road closures right now to maybe Christmas https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/landslide-threatens-to-bury-falls-creeks-summer-economy-20221031-p5bucf.html I'll check the other roads on our route. If anybody local near the Snowy Mountains has local news about Tumut or Jindabyne, please call it out thanks. If a cold snap comes through could be snow again like on a previous cruise ...
  19. Congratulations on getting the new job @El Andrew Can't believe it's October 24 already ... Have to find a weekend where I can reacquaint myself with using the DJI Mavic and make sure my Go Pro still work - been like over 2 years at least
  20. Just confirmed my booking at Golden Age Omeo for Sunday 20 November. Upstairs rooms vary and mine is $145. Downstairs budget rooms share bathroom are $70 (Except if you got at old price of $50 by booking much earlier!) Best to call Grant to book it ph 03 5159 1344. No breakfast unfortunately but there is a bakery across the road! My leave is approved as well. Also car is serviced. Had to change headlights so decided to do both H4's with Phillips White Vision (only $52 pair on Amazon) and K&N cleaned the air filter since I had to unbolt it anyway to get at the head lights ...
  21. Just my opinion but I would take it to somewhere which has good feedback on here. If that happened to me I wouldn't let them touch my car again. Just write it off as experience, you learn from it. I found asking around and taking it somewhere else has sorted out my problems and often cheaper than what the people who caused the problem quoted! The tuners you used don't seem to know what they're doing it appears on the surface, they should have done some checks to make sure no alerts would come up after a period of time. I also would have asked for a drive with the tuner before handing over the payment. Had my BA XR6T and FG F6 XCAL tuned my Mick in Frankston. Sadly he's not plying his skills any longer as far as I know.
  22. Well this thread saved me again today. Had to change out my 2 headlights on the F6(well one but decided to do both to match) and it's really amazing what you forget Since I had the air filter out decided to K&N clean it in preparation for Snowy's cruise in November
  23. I've booked in Oriental Tumut for Friday night and Alpine Gables Jindy for Saturday night. I tried ringing Golden Age in Omeo and still hoping to reach them. Hope they aren't closed (due to lack of tourists). Shall let you know more. Don't leave it last minute to book accommodation though. Can start to get low vacancies closer in to that time of year. Well, went up to work event on Gold Coast last week and came home with COVID so I'm isolating until this Thursday. Was bound to happen with such a huge number of people attending from around Australia ... I'm sort of okay, it feels like it's going to take a while for me to feel like normal again, still got plenty of aches in joints and am still spluttering like the proverbial 2 stoke mower that needs servicing But at least I have a some immunity (but reading up a bit as you do in isolation someone said your more likely to get it again if you have had it which seems strange). Anyways, that should not deter people from coming along. I think COVID is going to be something that will be around for a long time and we will just need to take precautions and deal with it if it happens. You can't let it rule your life and how you live it
