  1. Yeh I'd like to know the source to! I know what I know but how do you know what you know? As for all this talk on fuel tanks needing to be bigger! I only have to fill up once a week at the most! I'm happy with that! I get about 560km out of a tank around town! I'm not in a T yet but! If it had a bigger tank then it would be heavyier again! Not good! BA2 will have a few changes but nothing huge! time wil tell more!
  2. I know that they take heaps of time to get the articles into the magazines! At least 3 months. I prefer your car to dynosteves so that's probably why I dont remember it! Awesome car! So have the followed the mods you have done or are they just looking at the engine upgrades?
  3. Was just flicking through the latest issue of "ZOOM" magazine that arrived in the mail today. I noticed an article on a Blueprint XR6t's Nizpro motor upgrade! After reading the story, I looked again at the car and the rego seemed familiar to me. Jumped on the forum and found that its BCL's car. Well done Brian, Look forward to reading more about your car! This is the forum link to the forum topic on Brians car! http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...topic=9402&st=0 Is Brian the first member to get his XR6T in a magazine? I know Esky had his suspension done by whiteline and that was in autospeed, but I can't think of any others in a mag!

    Oil cooler

me thinks the engine oil would be too thick so the oil flow would be low through the cooler! I recon the oil pressure would be too high as the trans runs high pressure but I dont think that pressure is seen at the cooler. And best of all the cooler in the radiator does bugger all anyway! Lucky to remove 10 degrees, so not worth the effort. I hope your running a trans cooler elsewhere if your not using the factory one! And it better not be in the way of the intercooler or radiator! otherwise I'll start ranting again!
  5. just got 986.2! anybody notice that it seems that is as far as it goes as we have about 5 people who have that score now! Must keep trying to get further!

    colours

haha! you funny guys! If I took pics of cars out here at the proving ground I would loose my job! I dont get my T till the end of may so someone will have a manderine one by then I think! If not I will post pics of it then!

    colours

I have just ordered a manderine Xr6T sedan! Its similiar to Blood orange but lighter, with a yellow/gold metalic appearance! I have seen it on the territories around here and I think it looks good! I dont like Envi either! I haven't seen the new blueprint! They are having trouble with paint matching the bumpers and stuff at the moment!
  8. The dealer is feeding you a line on that one! I have gravity bled the clutch on mine and if you crack the bleeder on the bell housing your then able to drain the fluid from the whole system into a clear hose and into a bottle! That way you can see when the fluid your draining becomes the colour of the new stuff! Takes about 2-300mls of brake fluid and 10 minutes! Very hard! My opinion is that the slave cyclinder on the gearbox is the problem! The have replaced my gearbox and the cluct now feels better than it ever has in any of the 3 BA Xr's I have owned! Maybe bad production tollerances causing poor fit and sealing? Will never know but I am keeping an eye on the clutch fluid!
  9. I have had the same problem! at 6500km I found the clutch was getting had to use in that it seemed to not be releasing right! checked the fuild and was mud! I changed the fluid and all was good, but about a week later it was the same! By this stage the gearbox was getting worse, hard to select reverse, catching on the way out of third and finally crunching into fifth! Not good! Booked the car in at the dealer and within half and hour they had a gearbox on the way and gave me back the car! Was funny watch the service advisor trying to get it in reverse. I had told him only my wife couldn't get it in to reverse! hahah tricked him and made him look like a girl!!!! While waiting the week to get the gearbox I chaged the fluid again as it was getting harder again! With the new gearbox fitted it all seems good so I am wondering if its related to the slave cyclinder that operates the clutch in the gearbox! I'll check the new one soon and see if it turns to mud, but I am pretty sure my other BA XR's have been okay!
  10. its suggested that when towing and the like to change the oil every 50,000kms. The trans has a sump like a motor so you can remove the sump and drain it then change the oil as well. the trouble with this is that your only changing about a third of the gearbox oil as the torque convertor holds about 7 litres of oil I think it is! So really the only way to change the oil properly is to drain the sump, change the filter, reassemble it all and then at transmission places and dealers they should have a pump/filter system that they plug into the trans cooler lines that they are able to flush the whole trans system with new fluid! not sure how long it takes but it used to cost about $150 due to the amount of fluid used! As another point. make sure that the gearbox adjustments are not touched! the reason for this is that the computer adjusts the clutch pressures and the like to suit the wear of the gearbox. you go playing with the adjustments and the gear changes will all turn to sh*t! Try putting an ecu out of a car that has done 75k in a new car and feel the gear changes! just horrible! When a new trans is fitted we put the computer in "green" mode which holds the clutches at a higher pressure until the parts have all bedded in and the like!
  11. I remember people with old bikes used to have a problem with the bike pulling to one side under hard braking because of the brakes on one side so I would use the system in the photo but one on each side! the advantages of this brake system would be many, from better mechanical advantage from the caliper being further out from the axle, to increase surface area so less heat buildup! wheel would get hotter than normal but it would not be a problem!
  12. I wish I had gone! other bums from work went and go there all the time! good for setting up traction control, Vehicle dynamic control and all the other safety related ABS type stuff!
  13. I was at the motor show the other day when I saw the brakes on the front of the buell motor bikes (sports harleys) The size of the brakes is dictated by the wheel size so bigger wheels would finally be of an advantage rather than currently showing how small the factory brakes are! will never happen but cause a customer couldn't remove a wheel! nice idea but!
  14. What out for that XR6 Turbo snow drift! This photo was taken in Sweden recently during testing. Awesome photo! I doubt you would ever want to drive into a snow drift over there for fun cause it might be a car or a massive rock, if you look in the back ground!
  15. My car is in the dealership as we speak getting a new gearbox fitted! I found that the clutch fluid got dirty really quick and then the gear changes got sh*tty, so I flushed the clutch fluid and then all was good for a week. Started being sh*tty to change gears again and checked the clutch fluid and was dirty again! Seems odd to me, maybe its a clutch throw out bearing and slave cyclinder problem! First off I found it very hard to get in reverse, the wife couldn't get it into reverse, then 3rd gear started catching on the way out to second or fourth, now the fifth gear crunching your all talking about started to happen and its very stiff to move around in neutral. Spoke to the dealer and within half an hour they had a new gearbox coming. Will see how it goes tonight! My car has only 7k on it and it isn't a T.
  16. Hi Newbie! Welcome to the nut house! You will have to ignore the Automatic drivers twitch that some of these auto loving automatic pilot driven cars get when someone mentions a clutch or gear stick!! any how back to the clutch shudder! I have had 3 BA XR6 manuals and none have had clutch shudder! the dealer is feeding you a line about the shudder going away! In my opnion it will only get worse! I have had a gearbox that wouldn't shift into 3rd from 5th that I was told was normal but it wasn't! and the current car has developed a sticking gear when hot from 3rd today! not good but I would never have an auto!
  17. As far as I am a where, the cluster/guage look has not changed since the BA came out! There was a different version when the BA XR was a prototype that had meters per second around the outside face of the speedo that was pretty cool! I liked it so much I would like to see it made but I think it wasn't allowed for some ADR rules!
  18. if your wanting a ford qualified mechanic for your service work but dont want to take it to a ford dealer I would suggest you go to GRK AUTOMOTIVE on Thompsons road near the old noddies drink place! Its a green garage on the geelong side of the road! He is a previously ford trained mechanic who was the head mechanic at the ford dealership I was trained at (Colin Kerr) and he has started his own mechanics shop! He is very competent with all aspects of mechanical work and as a bonus doesn't charge like a dealership! PM me if you need a phone number or the like! I used to work for gorrels when they bought out Colin Kerr and the service went down when that happened! I was travelling to west point but they let me down in both sales and serives! I now go to Esclips ford in Ballarat to buy cars!
  19. so far wrong its not funny! its a bit like the rumour I was told that the BA rear suspension was so bad that the rear tyre could rub on the fuel tank! I grabbed this person and shoved them under my car to show them that the only way that could happen is if the tyre managed to chew its way through the chassis rail and the like first! all bull sh*t!
  20. You mean those over priced oven mits, where they have one for ever purpose but they are really just the same mit dyed a different colour! Yeah, my mum likes 'em too! Yep thtats the ones .....LOVE EM they keep my car Smit! aahhh the enjo! Went to a demo of them today! Did the car demo and all that! Have to say they are crap! No soap to lift the dirt off before grinding it into the paint and it doesn't get the bug guts off like they say it does! Your not allowed to scrub as it flattens the glove causing it not to work! Not ripping my money out for them! as for the grease glove! It was amazing on a badly grease covered BBQ! Worked extremely well! I'll stick with the non scratch kitchen cloth to clean off the bugs on the cars but!
  21. I have been using one of those teflon scourers for the pots and pans on the front bumpers of all my previous cars. It never leaves a mark and is kind to the finish! I never used it on the panels until recently when I told one of the guys at work about it and he tried it on his T! It works a treat! No scrathes and no bug guts! and best of all they only cost about 90 cents from a supermarket!
  22. if the engine has no coolant in it you will not get stranded! these things have the failsafe cooling system on them that works very effectively! you can travel for miles and miles! I found a new BA fairmont the other day that had done 7k and had never had the engine fans connected from being built! amazing what can be wrong!
  23. if your in victoria you are over the power to weight limit and also your not allowed to drive a turbo'd car at all on the P's Althought that doesn't seem to stop some people!

    Rev Limiter

What sort of Cooler do you recommend and where would you say is a good place to put it? The cooler I think can be my first mod. this is a million dollar question! As I am sure you have seen, some people have fitted the engine oil cooler in front of the radiator behind the top grill! This is a bad spot to fit it on the T a its the only place the radiator gets full air flow as the lower hole in the bumper is filled with the intercooler! This causes engine cooling problems and will also cause the radiator to crack at its side tanks during its life! It already does that easily enough on its own with out blocking airflow! During development a few oil coolers were tried but not acceptable in terms of radiator air flow problems! If you dont like the front spot lights I would be inclined to remove one of them and fit it there! Or you could get creative and fit the oil cooler in the front wheel arch and modify the bumper lower plate and the like to force air into the cooler! That would be my option! More work but much better effect!

    Rev Limiter

funniest post I have read in ages! too capable! famous last words! Reving the T to its current RPM cut out is almost pointless! these things produce there best power around 4400rpm! rev it much more than that and it will start to slow down almost! Remove the speed limiter by all means just make sure you have an engine oil cooler before hand but dont fit it in front of the radiator like some fools do! From my time in the dealerships I'm sure the police have the speed limiter removed!
