  1. any AUII onwards will beep when the lock button on the key pad is pressed twice. BA's are the same. This happens even if there is no alarm. Hope this helps. If it isn't beeping then take it back and get it looked into!
  2. These cars are great. I have looked for models of cars I have had before but can't get them. same with my motor bikes. Might have to get one of these. Do you think if we asked nicely if they would put a little mini FORDXR6TURBO.COM sticker on the front and back windows? That would be good!

    Xr6t Speed Limiter

Guys, you will find in the XR6T that the speed limiter is at 230km\h not 239 or 240 like you have been saying. As for not have a speed limiter that has all be discussed in other threads so I wont repeat here. With the car going over the speed the limiter shoud have come in at it could be a number of things. One could be that the wheels have been changed to a different size from what the factory fitted and the speedo calibration is out. If you change the wheel size you need to update the ECU! It could also be an error in the speedo when its going that fast. The speedo's are set up to be accurate as possible in the normal operating speeds. by the time your doing 230+ the error has a big effect on the speedo speed. Hope this helps! By the way the xr6t's and xr8's hit the 230km/h limiter all to fast! The GT hits the 250km/h limiter quick too! what a job I have!!!! B)
  4. Its funny the miss information that floats around the place, just because people don't understand the cause of the problems. All this talk of brake shudder in these cars is beginning to get frustrating! The dealers are telling people the cause of the shudder is being hard on the brakes! In actual fact it can be the complete opposite! The cause of the shudder is possibly from not using the brakes enough with the brake pads just kissing the disc while travelling down the road at high way speed. Of those of you that have the brake shudder problem, have a think if you do alot of highway driving. Bet you do! I have done 6500kms in my BA and not a sign of shudder as its almost all around town stuff! How do I know this is a potential cause? We are working on it at the moment at the PG as its possibly the biggest problem with the BA so far. We should have a permament fix once we understand the problem and the causes better. Hope this helps some of you being able to understand why your car shudders when you've never given it a hard time on the brakes! I used to be quilty of thinking it was caused by hard braking only. Now I know it can be caused by many things! Another cause can be contanination of the disc surface from driving on dirty or muddy roads as the front bumper under tray has slots to allow air to flow to the brakes but we think it might be allowing dirt onto the brakes too. Hope this helps you understand brake shudder a bit more!
  5. what would the top speed these cars would reach around winton race track. I don't know the track but I'm just wondering how the comodorres were around 2.5 seconds faster when the other times for the monaro cv8 are about the same as the turbo. Odd. Did they have Garth Tander driving again?
  6. I would be more than alittle sceptical!!!! a friend of a friend of a friend type stuff. As Esky says "a mate of a mate who works at Fords" type stuff! but if they hadn't tuned the beast with 14psi at the manifold it could be scary if they were doing a power run. Anything could have gone wrong. anything could have gone wrong with a standard boost motor too.
  7. it would probably help a little but its all rubber mounted and the like so probably lot much. There are probably many reasons that I have no knowledge of for the fly by wire change, this could be one of them by certainly not the main reason. very expensive to do just for that!
  8. yep that's pretty right, it loosens up the motor and frees it up. The power output probably does change, but the main thing you notice it the smoothness of the power delivery and gear changes and the like. Also seems to get better on fuel to. This is when compared to a non run in car. V8's seem to have the biggest difference after doing this procedure! End up with a better car!
  9. Guys, I would suggest that if your doing a long trip in your cars when running it in to vary your speed alot. And I don't mean by 5 km/h. To make any difference, the speed really needs vary by about 20kms to make any difference. Sitting on one speed for ages during running in won't be good for the motor. Its almost the same as letting it idle too long. Best if your going to travel from Sydney to Melbourne, take the senic way and go by the coast and enjoy the drive. Might take longer but better for you and the car. There is no need to hurry and get kms on the car as soon as possible just to get kms on it, better to look after it and drive it to run it in. better car in the long run. why do you think we don't just sit on 100km/h for 1500kms. not good for the car.

    Missing Liner

okay! maybe its something we did for the press cars or something! worth the effort though I think! sorry for the misleading information guys!
  11. just remember that your not allowed to fit snow chains to your XR's with the 17" or 18" wheels. its in the owners manual! something to do with wheel to body clearances. They are worried we will damage the quards and the like. Its very annoying! Just learnt to ski last year and all to!!!
  12. To say the Fly-By-Wire doesn't provide anything that the old throttle cable can provide is alittle too simple! 1) It can supply pedal feel for smooth throttle applications, not on and off like high powered cars can get, making them hard to drive smooth. On the same point it can allow small throttle openings up to half throttle and then more after that. By the way you don't need more than 40% throttle on the XR6T to get full boost. 2) It allows the auto trans to shift when its needed rather than when the throttle is in a certain point, allowing the gears to be selected better for how the car is being driven. Better driveability is what its all about these days. 3) It allows for free cruise control as all you have to do is fit the steering wheel controls and then enable the codes in the ECU and you have cruise control. 4) It makes emissions easier to control in real world conditions as the motor and trans know whats going on before it happens not after, so it can be controlled tighter compared to cable stuff. 5) With Fly-By-Wire we can also calibrate the engine operation to smooth out any driveline shunts and the like. The XR8 has a generally looser driveline than the turbo but with calibration of the thrittle control we have made the 8 as smooth as it is. Turbo needs the same thing but I think the boost makes it to hard! These are just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head. hope this helps understand why we do things. we don't spend money for know need! I would think that the aftermarket suppliers computers would have the capability to do some of these things but I don't think the dyno operators or the tuners could be bothered spending the time to get it all Mickey Mouse. It takes months for Ford to get it just right. Factory ECU with Fly-By-Wire is the way to go. Learn how to get into the ECU and retain the driveability of the car. Piggy backing stuff isn't the best way with ECU's either. Mark
  13. it can be a bit hard to get into the ECU's of these new Falcon. Where I work its easy but that's cause we developed it! Once you find the right program and hardware its very easy. If I could, I would start selling upgraded ECU programs but I like my job to much. But don't worry the ECU can be reprogrammed once the tuners fugure out how. As for a ford motor being more expensive to hot up than a chev, how? I have no experience in modifiying these motors but to get huge power out of any motor costs money, no matter what brand it is! As for the turbo compressor map, how about removing your turbo to disect it. I don't think so. Play with your boost while watching your intake temp after the turbo and you should be able to figure it out reasonably well. I do agree that alot of people recon that this and that part needs to go into the motor to make it better, the samething with brand names, with out knowing why. parts suppliers must love these people. enjoy your car now and modify it later when its all been worked out. it goes good enough now standard for normal use!!!!

    Missing Liner

xr8's appear top get the boot lid liner. Its one of the few things different between the xr6's and the 8's. It does finish off the area better but I still hate how the boot carpet doesn't fit around the jack on the drivers side. I was doing alot of complaining when I noticed it on the first prototypes and they fixed it to what it is now. still not good enough but better. the reason for the carpet sitting up is due to the base of the jack aving to be wides to steady the car when jacking. otherwise with a slight road angle it could roll off the jack!
