  1. I had both problems on my ute. Three tyres had inside wall splits and across tread split other one just across tread. After heated discussion with dealer got four new ones including fitting and balance at 11,000kms totally free. Some people I know were told to take it up with Dunlop/Beurepaires and they ended up paying either pro-rata or fitting and balancing. The way I see it if they are the original tyres the issue is with Ford and if they have an issue with Dunlop that's their problem. I have pics but do not know how to resize or post them. :cussing:
  2. What is this plug and where is it available from? Is it for the unichip that fits the BA. I have an issue with Ford regarding a problem with my car and if I could temporarily remove the chip it could save some hassles if push comes to shove with Ford. Thanks, Chris

    Sorry Scotty, we had a customer come in the other day with 22 000 klms on the clock and he had splitting sidewalls, he drove away with 4 brand new SP 3000 A's. Not sure who told you only 4000klms, I have the service bulletin in front of me, and it says nothing of the like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ford CRC told me about the service bulletin, my Dealer denied/couldn't find it, but I got 4 new Sp 3000's completely free at 11500km, after much dialogue.   4. Chris with that MPH you should be good for low to mid 14's, it's your 60ft that let you down with a 2.27. It would be also interesting to see what you speeds were in each stage of the track, whether you lost or gained. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the reply. R/T .335 60' 2.271 330' 6.510 660' 9.826 @ 74.88mph 1000' 12.636 ET 15.003 @ 96.12 Ute including me 1920Kg. Auto in pwr mode. Standard 17" dunlop sp3000 at normal driving pressures. (I think maybe a lot of people adjusted their pressure????) Could these figures indicate excessive wheel spin????? Ford supposedly has a new pcm upgrade from the States which they claim (again) will fix my cutting out problem. it goes it on Tuesday. Here's hoping. Thanks again, Chris
  5. First time at the drags, had fun but a little dissapointed in XR8/myself. Had 6 runs and the utes engine cut out 3 times around the 1000ft mark between 4000-5000 RPM. (obviously the PCM upgrade by Ford has not solved this problem.) Of the remaining 3 runs my best was:- ET 15.003 MPH 96.1 60ft 2.27. (The ute with me in it weighed in at 1920Kg last week on an empty stomach) I felt that maybe the wheels were spinning a lot in 2nd gear but am unsure. The question for those that know is:- Does the ET and MPH match (I was hoping for a 14 sec pass). Where am I going wrong or is the car just crap or me or both? I intend to try again after Ford next try to fix the cutting out problem. Thanks, Chris. PS I am not trying to steal the thread with these questions.

  7. Got my four SP3000,s replaced yesterday for FREE. 3 tyres cracked across the tread and 2 of the 4 had severe splits on the inside wall. After trying to say they were "cuts or impact fractures" they rang Dunlop who accepted that there is a problem with some SP 3000's. Had done about 11000 kms. Cheers, Chris

  9. I rang Ford CRC regarding a cutting out problem in my BA XR8, and at the same time mentioned my SP 3000 inside wall splits. When they finally returned my call about half an hour ago he told me that there is a service bulletin regarding this. He told me to take it to my dealer and make sure I tell them that I have talked to Ford CRC. It will be interesting to see whether they cough up or try bull**it their way out of it and blame me.   10. Hope it's the same for my XR8 Ute. Same tyres. Have been racking my brains trying to figure out what I could have run over to get what appears to be knife cuts high up on the inner wall of the front tyres. My car is Feb 04 build 11,000kms. Will talk to the dealer and see if he fills me full of crap as with other issues. Only new to the forum but great benefit already. Cheers, Chris

    Xr8 Mods?

    I have got a similar ute to yours. Dyno'd a dissapointing 180 rwkw out of the box. Herrod Cat back exhaust and Unichip gave me 210 rwkw. I was happy with the 30 kw increase but a bit pissed off with the start point. Maybe my engine was built on the sloppy end of the tolerances! The day my car was on the dyno they had a XR6T Manual Sedan 205 rwkw stock standard. (Apparently that was really good figure stock.) I neeeed more power so it will be interesting to see what suggestions you get. Maybe a Vortec Blower? Cheers, Chris 04 BA XR8 Ute, auto, lightning strike, leather etc
